Who| Every tribute.
What| Interview time!
Where| The training center.
When| Through out the week after the arena's end.
Warnings/Notes| You can either reply in prose or action, but please use the text area box and leave the questions bolded for mod ease. Also, nothing will be left private, she's lying. We're not sure when part 2 of this plot will happen, so feel free to take your time responding.

Through out the week, each tribute is escorted to an office room. It is a nice, posh comfortable room, with light food and drink to the tributes preference set out on the table.

A screen comes on, showing a very friendly looking, but strangely generic female. Although it is too minor to truly be noticed, the avatar is geared to subtly reflect the tribute to put them at ease, and their style is very simple for the Capitol.

The avatar speak in a calm yet friendly and engaging voice. Again, pitched to a tone similar to the tribute being interviewed.

"Hello! Given the influx of new tribute, the Capitol would like to get to know you, one by one, in your own words. Everything shared here will be between you and the screen, so feel free to speak freely!"

The woman goes through her questions, waiting for a response from the tribute. If a tribute doesn't respond, they are left in 10 minutes of silence before the next question is asked. Anything, no matter how it relates to the question, is treated as a proper answer.

[being left alone Pepper bites her lip a moment thinking over the questions.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? I guess that there's no reports? I don't really know I just got here.

Least favorite? The fact I was brought here without being asked. Pretty sure my friends are working on trying to get me back by the way... [She stops herself from a long rant.]

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? hm... I don't know I haven't met him, but he looks creepy, and kinda like a jerk... oooh! what if he's some master criminal, he looks the part why else would he always wear glasses?

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? I don't know! I've only met a few people so far, though I don't think I could hurt them.

What do you miss from home? [Without thinking she mumbles two names.] Gene and Tony...

Anything you would like to add? [The whole interview only takes five minutes, she stays silent the rest of the time looking down at the floor.]

[Yeah Chris lets the questions be asked then gets a small wicked grin on his face. See there's a reason why back home Wesker, Barry or Jill were thrown in front of the camera.]

Fuck this.

[Chris punches the camera lens, shaking his hand after, but there had been a satisfying crack when he did so. Looking at his hand he saw it was just minor bruising. Turning away from the shattered lense he waits out the remaining time.]

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? All the parties. I mean, so many interesting and well dressed people to talk to and share deep thoughts with like will tangerine be the new in color!
Least favorite? I have a list. First and foremost is what happened to all the great video games?
What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? I really try not to think of him at all. Mostly I think of myself because no one here is going to... On that note I think anyone who isn't a raging psychopath would make an excellent winner.
Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? I'm a great ally for myself although I'm not sure I'm to be trusted at night. I have shifty eyes. As for targets, huh, I'm going to go with the guy who decided that gutting me like a fish was a proper hello.
What do you miss from home? My stuff. Video games. Did I mention my stuff?
Anything you would like to add? Shoes. You people need to rediscover the comfort and flexibility of the tennis shoe. Also, I would try and focus on bringing in people who are actually non-essential in their own world for your little game; some of us are worth far more than dangling from the end of a spear.

Sherlock was not about to be helpful, in any meaningful way.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol?

Sherlock said absolutely nothing, the only reply a slow, cold smile coming to his lips. He simply stared at the avatar for the ten minutes it took for the next question to be delivered.

Least favorite?

"Not enough murder." The smile broadened. It never met his eyes. He stared unblinking.

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win?

"Oh, yes, it makes complete sense to grant superhuman powers to a select few and then not expect them to win. And given who won on the Ice--" He paused, glared. "Who cares about the outcome when the game is rigged. Anyone could win it."

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets?

"Why, so you can fire more fireworks at them? Yes, let me just illustrate every person I consider useful, and you can make sure to render them completely useless in the next arena. Piranhas. Piranhas!"

What do you miss from home?

This got a very angry glare, four minutes of silence, and then, with complete bitterness: "My job."

Anything you would like to add?

"No."

Karkat rolls his eyes. "Fine," he says, stuffing a pastry in his mouth.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol?

"Probably the food," he says after considering the question. "The dessert stuff in particular. Unless you were a highblood, you didn't get access to shit like chocolate very regularly on Alternia." He shrugs. "Your movies are okay too."

Least favorite?

Karkat glares at the screen. "The fact that I have to share a suite with the douchebucket who killed me. Isn't there any way to switch Districts? Can't I trade with Doobie or Pruna or whatever the fuck she's called? She'd fit in great with Psycho McDickbaron."

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win?

Karkat wrinkles his nose. "Who's this douchebag?" He shrugs. "I want Signless to win. He'd be better as a mentor than a tribute. He's not much of a gladiatortainer."

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets?

He shrugs. "Cuthbert, Signless, and I were allies last arena. I wouldn't mind working with them again." He bites into another pastry. "I'm going after Hyperion first. Then maybe the Initiate."

What do you miss from home?

"Terezi. Everyone, really." He frowns. "Fuck, you said what, not who, didn't you? Shit. Um, The Thresh Prince. Romcoms with proper quadrants. My quadrant novels. Recouperecoons. Sylladexes."

Anything you would like to add?

Karkat sighs. "How many times am I going to have to explain troll romance before you humans actually get it? It's getting to be ridiculous. Also, horns don't come in all those colors."

Suze doesn't look the least bit happy to be here. She snacks on the food and glares at the avatar.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol?

She snorts in derision. "You're kidding, right?"

Least favorite?

"How about everything?"

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win?

She shrugs and takes another bite of food. "I wouldn't really call anyone a winner."

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets?

"Yeah. I don't think so. I'm not about to go naming anyone."

What do you miss from home?

Her glare grew more angry if possible. "Why should I tell you? Obviously no one cares around here, otherwise I'd still be home."

Anything you would like to add?

"You all suck and are terrible human beings. Congratulations." She gives a sarcastic smile and waves before settling back into her glare.

[The Psiioniic is quiet as he's escorted into the room. He doesn't seem too impressed by the room or the woman on the screen, and he's hesitant as he lowers himself into a seat.

His grabs a cup, taking a small sip of honey sweetened tea as he listens. He's surprised when his head doesn't explode, but he supposes this planet doesn't have mindhoney.]

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? The food, the drinkth, the ability to move.
Least favorite? I'd rather be dead thtill.
What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? I don't know him. [He shrugs.] I think the Grand Highblood could win. [He pauses for a moment, lips quirking up for a moment.] Even if he'th too young for that title...
Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? We're all targetth. Why thhould I bother with an allianthe, anywayth? Only one of uth will be able to thurvive.
What do you miss from home? [He bares his teeth, eyes narrowing.] Having actheth to my powerth wath pretty nithe, but athideth from that I like it more here.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? The ease and safety of the drinking water. The abundance of resources and technology are both excellent, of course, and very much related, but I believe that the water is the most immediately convenient and noticeable to me personally.
Least favorite? The state of the body politic or lack thereof and general ambivalence toward the despotism so prevalent in this country. A large amount of your population is, as I understand, under served, while everyone is underrepresented, if this nation's government can be consider representative at all. There is a profound dissonance in the accomplishments of Panem and the state of its people and of its culture.
What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? I have no opinion on him, nor should I like to speculate about such things.
Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? It's inadvisable to make statements about either of those things.
What do you miss from home? There is a café in Paris where my friends and I would study in the afternoons. I miss it and I miss them.
Anything you would like to add? Rousseau states in the first book of The Social Contract that "force made the first slaves; and their cowardice perpetuates their slavery." The institution of the Games was created to make slaves of the Districts. It continued for year after year, generation after generation, but it is only the cowardice and the apathy of those in Panem that continue to allow this slavery and perpetuate it. Now, more than ever, you have the means and the ability to protest this barbaric system! It no longer has meaning and your children are no longer forfeit! If you will not stand up for their protection than consider the sacrifice of foreigners brought here with no knowledge of your terms of reaping and quells. We have given you the opportunity to fight without fear for your families. Dare to do something for them and for your futures.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? The fashion.
Least favorite? It gets very crowded sometimes.
What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? I haven't met him yet. I suppose anyone could win if they kept their wits about them. I don't condone killing, though. If you need to kill to win then I suppose only heartless individuals can be victors.
Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? I'd prefer not to answer this question.
What do you miss from home? My father.

[As he gets to the bottom, he feels a pang of loneliness. Suddenly he doesn't want to do this anymore, and finishes up quickly.]

Anything you would like to add? No thank you.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? Hm. I suppose it would be the fact that the place is so densely populated. [That's an odd thing to say, but that's his answer.]
Least favorite? The needless wasting of food and overconsumption.
What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? [He hasn't had the heart to watch recently, but he remembers it was the man who killed Eponine.] I don't like him at all. He seems oddly adjusted to violence. Who I think truly could outwit the other Tributes, well... K of District 7.
Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? [Sigma is silent for five minutes before answering. Why would they ask such a thing? He won't hurt them for answering, will he? But not knowing he must wait a little longer for the question to be skipped, it seems he can't leave until he answers. So what does he say? Does he lie, or tell the truth? In the end, he decides his allies are rather obvious, and so slowly admits to the truth.] My allies are... Howard of District 1. Akane of District 2. Eponine of District 3. K of District 7. I currently have no targets.
What do you miss from home? [He smiles. His first instinct is to say "nothing", but that isn't quite true. So he gives them an answer useless to them.] A particular... 'machine' of mine.
Anything you would like to add? No. That will be all. [He'd just like to leave.]

[This place really just keeps getting better and better. And more confusing. And, most noticably, isn't home, so forgive Stiles if he sits, looking very unimpressed at the screen.]

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? Gee, between being kidnapped, manhandled to-and-fro, and the whole being graded on how well I'm going to kill people thing, how could I possibly pick just one thing?

Least favorite? [A light scoff.] Same answer as before. You're making this really difficult.

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? Don't know 'em. [He gestures vaguely with his hand.] As for next time, all I can promise is that it probably won't be me.

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? [He breaks just a moment, looking plainly confused as he considers the question.] ... I was under the impression that everyone in the arena was a target.

[... He probably shouldn't have said that. For all the "privacy" he has here.]

What do you miss from home? [His jaw tightens.] I'm gonna have to go with being there.

Anything you would like to add? It's a little sterile here. You know, you could get some warmer colors, brighten the place up a bit. I'm sure it'd do wonders for morale just before you send innocent people off to die violently in a bloodbath designed for entertainment purposes. And-- you know, while we're on the subject, haven't you people heard of the internet? I mean seriously. There's tons of entertainment to be found there. I swear, spend like, an hour on TVTropes, you'll be putting this whole deathmatch business to rest in no time. Trust me.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol?

[He seems to give this question some very serious thought, and a minute of the allotted time to answer has already passed before he speaks.]

The food is good. That there's a lot of it, and that it's so available. I particularly like the sweets.

Least favorite?

[This one takes even longer for him to answer. But, well, there's only one thing he can really say to this, isn't there?]

I don't like that you treat us like glorified barkbeasts to be fattened up and trained to kill for your enjoyment, and expect us to accept it without question, like good food and fancy clothing and parties can excuse being doomed to a future with nothing but pain. I will continue to refuse to harm my fellow tributes. I expect I will continue to die. I fully accept that.

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win?

I don't know all that much about him except what's been replayed on the screens. I guess I'm glad for him that he's no longer required to participate, if anything.

I don't know who else might win. In a game like this everything is up to chance. But there seem to be others who aren't really made for fighting, and I hope it's one of them.

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets?

I was with Karkat and Cuthbert in the last Arena, before I was killed, and I'll stay with Karkat at least if I can. There's safety in numbers, and he'll fight when I won't, even if I don't like it. I can't judge him for it. I know how it is to be afraid to die.

And I don't have targets. I will never have targets. Everyone is deserving of help, or at least being left alone.

What do you miss from home?

Being able to sleep during the day like a normal troll.

[He pauses. It's sad that not much else comes to mind, except...]

Meulin. My mother. [There's a distinct note of pain his voice.] The Mituna I remember, not whoever he is now that he's here. They were all I had to lose, really.

Anything you would like to add?

No. [A pause, and then,] No, wait. You should move Karkat Vantas to District 12, if you can; he's in there most of the time anyway. He's in a suite right now with the human that killed him. Us. It would be appreciated.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol?

"The food. The running water. Electricity. I mean, it could power a few less TVs of bloodbaths, but I'm glad to have it."

Least favorite?

[ Beck...isn't sure what to think about this place anymore. He's used to secrecy, working in the shadows. He was used to having two sides of himself: Beck the mechanic; and the Renegade, a Program who fought against the norm and stood for freedom (or chaos and terrorism, whichever side you were on). He's not used to being in a world like this. With Users and Games made for Users and being brought back from deresolution.

Maybe this would be an opportunity to show himself. To prove to these Gamemakers what he really could do.

The Users might need a Renegade, after all

A woman pops up on the screen, and the interview begins.. ]

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? [ Beck pauses, but surprisingly, it's not all that hard for him to answer. ] I like the architecture. The buildings here are all shaped a little differently, but it reminds me a little of home. [ Of Argon. A small little smile tugs at the corner of his lips, and he looks down to the floor for a moment. ] If they glowed, it would be even better.

Least favorite? [ Another pause. Beck returns his gaze to the screen...and his smile fades. ] I don't like your Games. We had something similar back in Argon, but they never went as far as pulling people from their zones, and forcing them to derez each other like you do. [ His tone has turned snippy and sharp; exactly how he feels. ] I always thought Users were better than that.

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? I hope he's happy. And anyone could win, I guess.

But it won't ever be me. [ He looks directly to the avatar, then. He doesn't say that out of low confidence, or anything of the sort. Beck's answer is solid, and so is the look that follows. ]

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? [ Beck's leaned back in his chair, arms folded across his chest. He pauses yet again and chomps on his lip for a second time. Would it be safe to mention names...? Or was he just being a little too paranoid? ] I think I've made a few allies, but I won't mention any names. And as for targets? I don't have any. I don't plan to kill anyone, even if it means being killed myself.

What do you miss from home? ... [ For once, his expression softens. Beck looks to the floor yet again, and for the millionth time, he feels a pang of homesickness. ] I miss everything. I miss being a Program, and playing Disc Wars with my friends. I miss working in the garage, and the energy, and how everything glows...

And I miss Tron. A lot.

Anything you would like to add? Don't take us for granted. [ This is something he was trained to keep under wraps. But knowing that he was going to say it now, and use it even as a threat (if it could be taken as a threat, anyway) gave him a rush. Beck leans forward in his seat, giving the screen in front of him a glare.

It doesn't matter if this is 'private' or not. Let them know! ]

In case you didn't already know, I came for a world where a single Program aimed to cure everyone with perfection. It was either give in to slavery, or be reprogrammed. The State was starting to take over the Grid, city by city. He gathered an army, and started to take innocent Programs under his wing, or get rid of them in the process.

But I was considered a renegade Program. You know why? I stood up against them, and tried everything I could to get in their way. I hid behind a mask, but I did what was right. And people started to stand up for my cause. [ His hands tighten into fists. ] And I can do the same thing here.

We don't have to stand for this. We will fight back! And when we do, I'll be fighting right beside them, and I won't be afraid.

That's it. Now let me go.

[Just between her and the screen. Sure. She keeps a sweet smile.]

What's your favorite thing about the capitol?
Well, the food and luxuries are certainly nice, but my favorite is the advance of technology between here and my home. It's quite interesting to see what they've come up with here that we back in my home haven't yet.

Least favorite?
That they watch people kill themselves and it's viewed as entertainment. [She's honest, at least. About that one.]

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win?
I don't know him personally and I've never really noticed him before, so I can't say.

Anyone can win. I wish it were one of the younger ones, though. Maybe Chibi-usa.

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets?
I consider no one to be targets. My allies are spaced out and changes with the conditions of the arena. I do trust some of these people, but I also understand why they would want to kill me and if they acted like it never happened afterwards, I would act that way as well.

What do you miss from home?
Everything.

Anything you would like to add?
... Can I leave now?

Shion sat awkwardly in the office watching the screen speak to him. He smiled at her, because he wasn't going to be rude even to something that probably couldn't see him.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? He was silent a few moments, though he knew he had to answer, for all he knew this was some kind of test. He hated having to be back in the mindset of No. 6, especially no he knew what cruelties could lie behind closed doors. But he didn't really have a choice. "You have books, books that anyone can read."

He wasn't sure what the motives behind not banning such things were, but he supposed that imagination in the minds of it's citizens went a long way to securing the success of the death matches, it wasn't just brutality, it was like a stage show. Like a piece of Shakespeare except the actors weren't actors and the pain and sorrow was real.

He tried to keep the pained look off his face as he waited for the next question.

Least favorite? He froze at this one, was it a trick? Were they trying to weed out dissenters?

He had no idea what to say, should he speak about the cruelty in taking pleasure from watching people kill and be killed, the horror he felt at the fact this wasn't secret. These atrocities were shown all over the city and people loved them. His anger at the fact that their was a hierarchy, that people lived in luxury and others were sent to suffer and die.

Or the disgust that this city seemed to have the technology to bring people back to the dead, and this was their use of it.

Or the fear he felt when he looked round the city, that somewhere out there there was perhaps a place like West Town and once again Shion was being treated as an elite, given food and nice clothes, because he was useful whilst not so far away children starved.

As it turned out he didn't have to say anything because the ten minutes passed with him lost in thought and struggling to answer and the next question was asked.

What do youthink of the newest winner? Who else could win? A slightly easier question, he blinked dragging himself back to this moment in this room. "Um... I arrived just as he was winning, he seems strong, brutal. I don't know him so I can't really make a judgement on him.

I'm not sure who else could win, I just hope your not counting on me."

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? "I don't know that many people. I don't know." He felt sick at the idea of anyone being targets, that he was expected to kill...

What do you miss from home? Just at the mention of home he looked down. He was trying to stay strong for this but he couldn't talk of home without breaking down.

The ten minutes almost passed by before he spoke in barely a whisper. "My mum." She had lost him once and now she had lost him again, after he had promised to bring her no more pain.

Anything you would like to add? He shook his head and left as soon as he could.

Pruna was led into the office and sat down before grabbing some food. She had finally got it into her mind that the capitol was probably not going to poison her as they wanted her to fight, and that giving people lots of food was just their way of saying they liked them.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? "I do be liking the food, especially the ice cream. That do be my favourite, it do be fucking delicious." Someone's been taking language lessons from trolls.

Least favorite? "Some of the dresses do be very stupid and the silly hair people do be making me wear shoes." Which she wasn't wearing at the moment, she made every effort to lose them.

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? Pruna wrinkled her nose for a moment before answering. "He did be being strong and killing lots of people. I do be thinking other strong people could be winning, but really it do be being open. That girl who did be making everyone die for her, she could be winning because she do be being smart and having a good tactic.

Even Howard could be winning, his traps did be being good, I do be thinking people who do no be crying about killing others will be more likely to be winning though."

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? "How do I be knowing you will no just be showing this on the television technologies and then people will be knowing who I do be going after!" She shook her head, "It do probably be being no secret that me and Sandy to be being allies though."

What do you miss from home? She wrinkled her nose again. "My sister. I do be missing her a lot." She shrugged, "And my job because that did be being fun."

Anything you would like to add? She shook her head, wanting to say a lot more but knowing she shouldn't get angry because she would get into trouble.

"What do you want to get to know us for?" he asked, eyeing the food suspiciously. But the woman went on to ask a question, ignoring his.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? He waited to see if she would answer his question and decided maybe she would in the end. He couldn't see what harm answering would do. "It's got pretty much everything here, I suppose."

The next question coming immediately after his answer made him resigned to answering the rest.

Least favorite? "The reporters trying to ask questions."

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? He shook his head. "I don't know." That was something he wasn't sure about offering an opinion on. So he kept it to himself.

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? "That depends," he said slowly. "An ally is someone who isn't trying to kill me at that moment and a target is someone who is."

What do you miss from home? He chuckled at that. If only they knew how long it'd been since he was home. "Beer, cricket, freedom."

Anything you would like to add? "Yes, what are you going to do with this information?" But all that happened was the screen went off. Ian waited for a little longer before sighing and leaving.

Do I really have to...? I mean, I didn't do much...

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? Uh... I haven't been around much, to be honest. The boat party was nice though?
Least favorite? [A small shrug.] Er... I dunno? I guess being brought here against my will kinda sucked...
What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? I don't really know the guy. I guess congrats to him though?
Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? I-I dunno, I'd have to talk to more people, I guess...
What do you miss from home? [He got a bit quiet at that; yeah, there was a lot of things he missed: the team, his partner, his job, Inaba as a whole. Like hell he was actually going to say that though.] Ah... not much, really. Heh...
Anything you would like to add? Ah... not really.

[His interview doesn't take long at all, and other than the question about there being anything he missed, most of his answers are rambled out quickly so he can get out of there as soon as possible.]

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? "I guess the food is pretty nice?" he admits.
Least favorite? "The part where I have to go fight to the death. I think that part is basically the worst."
What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? Volanz shrugs. "I don't actually know that person? I guess he is the best at killing people. I am not. I suppose other people who are good at that will maybe win?"
Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? He shrugs again. "Basically, I think I am kind of a target if anyone even cares because I am not all that dangerous, if I'm honest. I don't think I could kill anybody very well even if I try?"
What do you miss from home? He hesitates, chewing on his lower lip a little, before he speaks. "I miss my lusus. And my friends. But mostly my lusus."
Anything you would like to add? "I don't know? I'd kind of like to go home but I guess that is not actually a thing that will happen."

[Tim does not believe a damn thing that the woman says, as there is a world of difference between "the Capitol wants to get to know you" and "everything will be between you and the screen." This is a reality show confession room. Quick - what's a confession without actually giving anything new away?]

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? Oh, my absolute favorite thing's a secret. [Tim winks at the screen and simultaneously gives a half smile with that quick taach sound of tongue clinking off gums..] But I love the architecture and design here, lots of clean lines.
Least favorite? [There's a pause before this one, because he now knows that this is a recording, not a livestream. No interviewer wouldn't have pressed for more information on his favorite thing.] The suite's too small! [Laughter] No, the suite's great. It's just if you could see the size of the home I grew up in, you'd get it. I think we must have 10 rooms for each family member. Just enormous. So, yeah, I feel a little confined in the suite, and I keep heading out into the Capitol so I don't go stircrazy.
What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? Never ran into him, honestly. From what I saw of his highlights, he was smart and brutal. Well-deserved victor. Who else could win? Me. [More laughter]
Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets?
Allies? Bruce Wayne. He's my - he adopted me after my parents died. Stephanie Brown. She's my... friend. We've known each other for years. That's all I'm going to mention here - I can't give away everything. Targets? [Tim just smiles, but it's not jovial - it's cold and hard.]
What do you miss from home? My family and friends.
Anything you would like to add? I'd like to thank everyone I've met in the Capitol for making me feel so welcome in their city.

This wasn't the first time they'd done this to Wyatt. He'd been for for the last little get-together. Back when it'd been a real person on the other end.

His eyes are dark, his jaw shadowed with growth. He stares at the tabletop silently until he finally speaks. Then he looks up and stares hard at the screen.

What's your favorite thing about the capitol?

[Silence. The full, long ten minutes in which he simply stares at the varnished wood, his jaw working rhythmically.]

Least favorite?

[More silence.]

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win?

[He finally speaks, the words a hard rasp.] Can't say I'm surprised. He's what ya wanted, ain't he? The sort that yer happy to have?

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? Ya'll've seen the arenas, ain't ya? So I reckon ya already got yer answers.

What do you miss from home? [His mouth twists wryly.] My horse.

Anything you would like to add? Nah, I'd said that about covers everythin' I wanna say.

[Between them an the screen? Suuuuuuuure. Alex puts on a polite face, but does his best to keep his expressions either neutral or coy.]

What's your favorite thing about the capitol? Probably the food. I used to travel a lot when I was little, so trying new food is always enjoyable. And the parties, very nice. Wouldn't have been invited to any like the ones here back home.

Least favorite? The severe lack of football. I mean, it's only the best sport in the world. I was going to go pro back home, you know. Play for the The Blues if they'd have me.

What do you think of the newest winner? Who else could win? Never ran into him myself. But from what I've seen from the playbacks it was only a matter of time until he won. As to who else could win? Hard to say. We've had a real mixed bag of Victors. It could be anyone. Which is what's so interesting.

Who do you consider allies in the arena? Who do you consider targets? [at this, Alex arches an eyebrow and smiles mischievously] I really can't tell you that. Everyone knows you don't give away your strategy, even in 'confidential' interviews.

What do you miss from home? [his expression wavers for a millisecond before returning to the polite but bland one he'd started with] School, if you'd believe it. I was rather behind due to a prolonged illness and I had just finally caught up. Plus I finally made first team for football! Had a good shot at being captain next year, too.

Anything you would like to add? Look, as... interesting as being a Tribute is, I'd only just gotten caught up in school before you brought me here. Now I'm probably a whole year behind again. I'm never going to pass my GCSEs at this rate.
