On the morning of February 14th when the Tributes come down for breakfast they're greeted by an impressive holiday themed spread. Pink and red baked goods, chocolates shaped like hearts, beautiful red and pink flowers, adorable stuffed animals all line the table.

On the table is also a sign in cursive that reads:

To our beloved Tributes, Victors, Mentors, Escorts and Stylists. Enjoy your holiday. -- Bartlett Industries

Most of the sweets are completely harmless, but if the Tributes taste the chocolate covered cherries or caramels they find themselves suddenly acting very strangely...

"Oh, are you going to be an actor?" Atticus asks, shifting sideways in his seat.

"Yeah. Or a musician. The best would be a Broadway star. My goal is to make art and music."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"Yeah? That's cool. That's what I was studying. Music, I mean."

[mediumdrip]

"What do you play?" Blaine asks, clearly excited that they have this in common.

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"Piano mostly. But, you know, guitar and violin and harmonica..."

[mediumdrip]

Blaine grins a bit. "I play the piano," he says. "Mostly I sing."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"That's cool! I sing too, but the piano was really my focus."

[mediumdrip]

"Yeah? I wonder if we can find one here..." he says thoughtfully. He moves a little closer to Atticus and puts a hand on his arm. "I'd love to hear you play."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

Atticus smiles at that, leaning a bit closer. "I could play and you could sing?"

[mediumdrip]

"Sounds like a good idea to me," he grins. "Other than music, what else do you do?"

[kind_of_a_nerd]

He grabs another chocolate and pops it into his mouth.

"Um...you know. The usual stuff. Movies and video games and shit. You?"

[mediumdrip]

"Movies, theater. I like sports too. I'm not as sure about video games, though I'm not opposed to them. I guess I don't have a lot of time for them."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

He laughs. "But you have time for sports?"

[mediumdrip]

"Sometimes. I watch more than I play. I used to do competitions for polo and fencing."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"You do fencing? That's so cool!"

[mediumdrip]

"It's a great work out."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"Yeah, I've done a little bit of it, but I never got very far."

[mediumdrip]

"Well, we'll have to train here. Maybe I can teach you what I know? It's not really going to help you in the Arena though. People don't follow the rules there."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"I've done a little stage combat?" he offers. "I could teach you that."

[mediumdrip]

"Every little bit helps," Blaine says with a smile. He puts his hand on Atticus, as if checking to see if he's real again. There's also a part of him that just wants to touch for the sake of touching.

"How can yo let your curls just hang around like that? They drive me insane." Which would explain the gel that is currently cementing his into place.

He laughs and reaches up to touch Blaine's helmet of hair.

"I was just wondering how you got yours not to."

[mediumdrip]

"It's a whole technique, really," Blaine admits. "A process that I'm very dedicated to. I could teach you that too?"

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"How long does it take you?"

[mediumdrip]

"Half an hour? Forty five minutes? About that... Longer if I fell asleep with wet hair."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

Atticus laughs, snorting a little. "I don't remember the last time I got up more than forty-five minutes before I had to be somewhere."
