On the morning of February 14th when the Tributes come down for breakfast they're greeted by an impressive holiday themed spread. Pink and red baked goods, chocolates shaped like hearts, beautiful red and pink flowers, adorable stuffed animals all line the table.

On the table is also a sign in cursive that reads:

To our beloved Tributes, Victors, Mentors, Escorts and Stylists. Enjoy your holiday. -- Bartlett Industries

Most of the sweets are completely harmless, but if the Tributes taste the chocolate covered cherries or caramels they find themselves suddenly acting very strangely...

"Movies, theater. I like sports too. I'm not as sure about video games, though I'm not opposed to them. I guess I don't have a lot of time for them."

He laughs. "But you have time for sports?"

[mediumdrip]

"Sometimes. I watch more than I play. I used to do competitions for polo and fencing."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"You do fencing? That's so cool!"

[mediumdrip]

"It's a great work out."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"Yeah, I've done a little bit of it, but I never got very far."

[mediumdrip]

"Well, we'll have to train here. Maybe I can teach you what I know? It's not really going to help you in the Arena though. People don't follow the rules there."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"I've done a little stage combat?" he offers. "I could teach you that."

[mediumdrip]

"Every little bit helps," Blaine says with a smile. He puts his hand on Atticus, as if checking to see if he's real again. There's also a part of him that just wants to touch for the sake of touching.

"How can yo let your curls just hang around like that? They drive me insane." Which would explain the gel that is currently cementing his into place.

He laughs and reaches up to touch Blaine's helmet of hair.

"I was just wondering how you got yours not to."

"It's a whole technique, really," Blaine admits. "A process that I'm very dedicated to. I could teach you that too?"

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"How long does it take you?"

[mediumdrip]

"Half an hour? Forty five minutes? About that... Longer if I fell asleep with wet hair."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

Atticus laughs, snorting a little. "I don't remember the last time I got up more than forty-five minutes before I had to be somewhere."

[mediumdrip]

"I guess that means you're a roll out of bed and throw on the nearest clean thing sort of guy?" Blaine says. "That's not me at all."

[kind_of_a_nerd]

"Yeah, pretty much," Atticus agrees. "I mean, I have to do something with all this." He gestures to his hair. "But if I sleep late, I just don't worry about it."

"I can only do that when I'm depressed," Blaine comments lightly.

[kind_of_a_nerd]

Atticus smiles a bit and shifts closer, oddly content with this kid who looks just like him.

"Yeah, I usually just don't get out of bed at all, then."

There had been a couple of days, just after the first time he'd shifted, that had turned out like that.

Blaine's hand ends up moving to Atticus's hair. He plays a bit with the curls, curious about them. It's easier to be curious about curls that aren't his own. He doesn't have to be disgusted looking at them on another person's head. It feels nice to be touching Atticus, even if they are basically strangers. It's strange how much he wants to touch him, to prove that he's real and just for the sake of touching. He tries to tell himself it just has to do with the fact that they're doppelgangers.

"I was that way after my boyfriend and I broke up," he says, using the statement as a way to out himself without just flat out saying 'I'm gay!'

Atticus finds himself smiling more as he leans into the touch. It feels nice. He's kind of a touch/feely sort of person, but he doesn't know anybody here well enough for that yet.

"Oh, man, I'm sorry. That sucks. Were you guys together long?"

Blaine nods a bit. "Long enough... It's not even about that though. I did something really stupid to lose him." He looks away from Atticus's hair to focus on his eyes. "Are you any good at relationships?"

[kind_of_a_nerd]

Atticus ducks his head, blushing a little. "Not really? I mean, I don't really know. I've never had a boyfriend."

"What about a girlfriend?"

[kind_of_a_nerd]

He laughs, snorting again. "Oh, god no."

[mediumdrip]

"Good," Blaine says before he thinks. "I guess that means we're both gay?"
