The advertisements hit hard today. Tune in at 6 o'clock, you won't want to miss this special! Everywhere a person could look, it was there, and the city was clearly excited for whatever this mystery event was.

As if that wasn't enough, escorts were encouraging Tributes to be in the commons, and a small feast of finger foods was laid out along one wall, extra avoxes available for drinks.

And, as promised, at 6 pm sharp, all the TVs flickered to the ever flashy Caesar, on an equally flashy tabloid-tastick reality style "interview" of the tributes. All the TVs in the common area light up with it, as well as the Districts suites, even if the TV had been off before.

Daniel smiled at some of the Tributes around him. "Well, how about that?" he asked. He couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable about having just watched the people around him on broadcast. "You guys looked great."

[polyturtle]

"...Urm...yeah." At this, Don awkwardly rubbed his head. "Especially loved the kung-fu grip."

Translation: Thank shell they couldn't take his answers out of context.

Dan smiled at him. "What did you think of the action figure? I thought it was a good likeness, but you might disagree?"

[polyturtle]

"Well, they did a decent job, I guess." Man, this was awkward. "Though, they...got my shade of green wrong. And I don't generally use swords outside of the Arena..."

...He remembered how Mikey would wish he had a toy action figure of himself when they were younger. It was ironic how he was making the wish reality, albeit in a way he hated.

"Maybe you can suggest the right color of green?" Dan suggested. He couldn't imagine having a figure made of himself, and he didn't really know what Don was going through. The only thing he could really do was try to be encouraging, even if he knew that it fell a little flat.

[polyturtle]

"I...guess, though I wouldn't know where to start." Don admitted. "My image isn't exactly in my own hands. But...I suppose it would be worth a try. Do you know the toy company who made the doll?"

[brother2dragons]

"I do, but it might be best to ask your Escort to help you reach out to them? My voice wouldn't have as much weight."

[polyturtle]

"Maybe." Don shrugged. "So...uh...what was the toy company name again...?"

This was surreal. Insanely so. A kung fu action grip.

Dan gave him the name of the company, which was one of the more popular toy companies in the area. They had been the ones to make some of the costumes he had had as a child.

"At least they didn't get the face completely wrong?" he pointed out. "There are times where those things look like squished potatoes."

[polyturtle]

"Eheh...yeah." Geez this conversation was awkward. "No, mine looks just like me."

"There you go. It's important to look on the bright side, isn't it?" Dan asked, trying to sound encouraging while still maintaining a professional tone to his voice.

[polyturtle]

"Eheh...yeah..."

Man it was a bit hard to keep that smile up. But he was trying. Really trying.

"So..." Changing topic now. "You're one of our Peacekeepers, right?"

[brother2dragons]

"I am," Dan replied easily. "Did you need something?"

"Did we?" Cindy had found herself standing near this guy (cute, glasses, not too shabby), and she couldn't help commenting to his own comment. "I was a little worried that they were making me look like a fat ass with that Burger King comment, but so long as I looked good doing it..."

She gave him a grin. "Maybe next time they'll let us give a few more answers."

"Maybe," Dan replied. When he looked at her he managed to control his urge to open his mouth. Instead of gawking at her beauty he looked her in the eye as he spoke with her. It was important to maintain his professionalism as a Peacekeeper, after all. "They could plan on releasing more than one of these."

Either way it was flattering. And this guy didn't seem like any of those leering sponsors she'd talked to. Not that he was in any way a sponsor, but did she just meet the one nice guy in the place?

"I think they should! You can always tell something is entertaining by the way people react to it. If everyone in here is going crazy with rage, then everyone out there must be loving it." Honestly, the whole thing was funny to her. Maybe not as funny to some people who were giddy with glee about it, but it was just so obvious how badly it was done.

"Celebrities do tend to dislike it when the public knows more about that," Dan pointed out with a small smile. "It's a little strange to see it from this side. I think that some of you turned out looking really neat. It wasn't all that bad, was it?"

"You see all of those little hissy fits on TV all the time, so I think you're onto something with that," Cindy tilted her head a little, giving him a smile as she looked up through her lashes. She really hadn't had a chance to flirt lately, what with all of these trainings and dead people stuff getting in the way. And creepy sponsors. Did she mention creepy sponsors?

"It wasn't too bad. Those definitely weren't the questions I was asked, though, but all in all, I thought everyone looked good."

Dan looked a little flustered by her flirting, but he instead of stumbling and looking foolish he managed to just clear his throat and continue with the conversation.

"What did they ask you?"

Aww, he really was a cutie. She'd give him a pass, instead of ramping up the flirting. Besides, the conversation was a tiny bit more interesting right now. Everyone else here thought it was either ridiculous or were horrified. So having someone who was... whatever he was. Maybe between horrified and amused? She didn't know.

"Pretty standard questions, I thought. How do you like it here, what do you miss from home, what's your favorite thing in the Capitol, yada yada yada."

Daniel thought about that for a moment. "Hm. I'm surprised they've changed it around so much. It used to be that you'd have a live interview on TV. It was harder to edit it then. Though I suppose they were trying to ramp up the hype over the new Victor."

"Changed it around so much? They changed it around a lot. I definitely don't remember being asked any of those questions." She pulled a face, taking a sip of her champagne with a sigh.

"Well, if they were trying to ramp up the hype, they did a good job with it. Maybe they didn't do it live because there's too many of us?"

[brother2dragons]

"There are a lot of you," Dan agreed. "I'm surprised they're able to support so many. The most we've had before was four to a district."

"You know, I was wondering about that," Cindy said, moving a little closer to him. Like this was an intimate conversation, something just the two of them should know about. Up close and personal, and all that.

"They keep bringing in new people all the time. Aren't they going to run out of room for all of us, if they keep going? There's definitely more then four to a district now."

Dan shifted a bit and cleared his throat, clearly responding to the way she moved closer. "I suppose they'll have to expand the Tower in that case," he replied.
