Dan's lab had been created shortly after his mother's death. He had built it to help him make gadgets for his team as he was back in the city to deal with her burial. In the end, it had mostly been a way to deal with being alone. Once he was back in the Districts the place had fallen to misuse. With the spur of the moment invitation he had given Tesla he found himself in it again, cleaning and getting it ready. By the time he had made arrangements for the Tribute's transportation to his home, everything was back in working order.

He was out of uniform when we went to great Nikola, but he wasn't entirely comfortable in his clothes. He wore something that was close enough to his uniform to pass him off as an off-duty Peacekeeper. He wasn't sure it would have been appropriate for him to see a Tribute while wearing one of his comfortable sweaters.

Nikola was inclined to be impressed at the man's home. He hadn't thought Peacekeepers were so well paid, though he supposed it made sense that you'd want your army to be satisfied with their positions, give them more reason to be loyal than not.

He stepped into the building with a smile. "Mr. Dreiberg. A pleasure to meet you in person," he said, eyes quickly flicking over the man's form.

Dan had gotten into the records just enough to confirm that Tesla was who he said he was. The fact that Tesla's identity is confirmed fueled the grin on his face, which was far less the official Peacekeeper expression he should maintain around a Tribute and is much more a slightly giddy fanboy. "You too," he said. "Come on in. I can take you right to the lab if you like, or I can give you a short tour of the grounds? It's my family's home." It wasn't as impressive as one of the ruling class estates, but it was still from money.

Nikola glances around the space, taking in the state of it and comparing it to what else he's seen in the Capitol.

"Why don't we go to the lab first and save the tour for later?" he suggests with a smile.

Dan grins a bit and nods. "Come on, it's this way." He has to lead the way into his house and then down to the basement where he's created his lab space. The things he has are actually pretty state of the art, even though it's been a few years since he's there. He's managed he clean down there though so it's presentable. It's much better than anything Nikola would see in the Sanctuary.

Nikola takes in his surroundings as they go, a bit impressed by the entire set up. When they reach the basement, he smiles as he looks around.

"Why, Daniel. You've been holding out on me."

Dan just looks a little embarrassed. "Are you sure? It's a little... much."

"Why shouldn't it be?" Nikola asks, moving quickly about the room to examine the equipment, fingers sliding almost lovingly over machines both familiar and not.

Dan watches the way he moves through the lab. He knows this is a little dangerous. After all, if Nikola builds an earthquake machine and takes down a couple buildings, Dan's job could be on the line. He finds that he can't really bring himself to care when he sees the way that Nikola touches his equipment. "Did you have anything you wanted to work on?" he asked. He figures if he's here to keep an eye on Tesla then he can at least notice if he does anything too out there.

Nikola has, at present, no plans for destroying the Capitol. (Though, to be fair, most of the destruction he's caused from laboratories was unintentional.) "I didn't have a specific project in mind," he admits, turning to smile at Dan. "What are you working on at present?"

"A new radio system for my team. We, um, we have to plan for some of the changes here." He can't really get into detail about how seriously he was taking the Rebellion. Officially, it didn't even really exist.

Nikola has not yet heard of the Rebellion, but he does assume it must exist in such a place as this.

"Well, that sounds like something I am uniquely qualified to work on."

"Well, you did invent the base model," Dan says with a grin. "Have you had a chance to look at some of the new technology?"

"I have. It's...fascinating."

He's spent a lot of time snooping around the District Ten suite. Only his hovering escort has kept him from practically tearing the place apart to see inside.

"Fascinating in a good way? Or in a flashy, unnecessary way?"

"Perhaps a bit of both," Nikola says thoughtfully. "But I suppose technology will always lend itself to entertainment, at least if its going to be funded."

Dan shrugs a bit at that. "That's where the money tends to go, towards anything that can make more money."

"I suppose it's somewhat comforting to know how little things change."

"Here all of the good ideas have to be for the Games too. It's a little disheartening."

Nikola arches an eyebrow. "You disapprove?"

Dan winces a bit because it's always bad to bad mouth the Games. "Not exactly. I wish that I could have my own projects, not have them be the property of an entertainment industry."

"It is a bit like selling your children into prostitution."

Dan nods a bit at that, though he isn't sure if the harsh comparison is completely accurate. "Are you ready to make some children then?" he asks, completely unaware how that might get taken.

Nikola smirks and looks him over slowly. "I wasn't aware technology had advanced quite that far, dear boy."

"I thought you said that you checked some of it out?" Dan asked, still not quite catching on.

His smirk just deepens and he steps closer to Dan. "Is this a tribute breeding program you're referring to? I haven't been introduced to that side of things..."
