Welcome to the Victoria Ascendant, latest in the Ascendant line of luxury yachts as built by the Nadir company. Tonight, the Victoria Ascendant is the stage set for a spectacular party, also paid for by the company and specifically designed and organised by a team of event specialists overseen by your host for this evening, Timaeus Nadir- wealthy eligible bachelor, melodramatic heir apparent to the company chair, frequent sponsor of the Games. The Victoria Ascendant is fully equipped with every obscenely luxurious item imaginable, and practically drips opulence.

When first welcomed aboard you will be assured that your every need will be seen to, your every desire catered for. Staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have or guide you to various areas of the ship, provide you with food, drink, or suggestions of how best to take advantage of the Victoria Ascendant's many amenities- they are here as hosts, but also as salespeople for those of the guests with money to burn- this party is serving more than one purpose. Tributes who responded to their invite will also receive a delicate, hand-written note in a golden envelope as they board- the content of which will be posted as a reply to their response to this post.(I'll do this once your character turns up.)

Although the Victoria Ascendant has a magnificent dining room for formal, sit-down occasions, the food for the party will be circulating the various lounge areas and decks. There is also a buffet table, for those of you who prefer to help yourselves, and a fully stocked bar. Provided are a baffling variety of foods and beverages, seemingly unconnected- but each tribute will find that if at any point during their stay in the Capitol they have requested a particular food or drink item, it is available here. Or, at least, the closest approximation the catering staff could conjure up. Seating is provided in intimate groupings around tables for the most part, though there are large, sprawling couches against the walls. Central to the dining area is a magnificent aquarium filled with brightly coloured fish. Anyone looking closely enough will recognise them- varieties of piranha- but don't worry, they've been more than adequately fed and the glass is thick.

While there are various screens displaying the Games throughout the ship, Viewing is also taking place on an enormous screen, set up in a seperate lounge area with full floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side. Here, staff wait to take bets or help organise the giving of sponsor gifts. Large, comfortable couches line the room, and the central table overflows with a spectacular arrangement of edible flowers and fruit.

Later in the evening, you will be told that the firework display is about to begin, and invited to go up onto the main deck to watch. The fireworks themselves will be launched from smaller boats across the lake, and the display is set to be truly spectacular. It will be set to some music that Tributes may find familiar- various melodies pulled from the most recent Arena. The large swimming pool on the deck is open, but it is too early in the year to be comfortable to use. Instead, it is being used as an unusual centrepiece for the evening. Floating in the illuminated water is a gigantic iceberg, sculpted into a stylised model of the current arena and populated with frozen figures. Eagle-eyed Tributes may be able to spot themselves depicted in ice- more often than not, the moment of their deaths are the pose of choice, if a little tweaked for the sake of a more dramatic scene.

She beamed, "I do be thinking they did be giving up." And decided that putting shoes on her feet would be giving her a potential weapon.

"They would no be giving up on the dress though."

"Good for you," said Momoko. She was usually in favor of shoes, but asserting their authority of these ridiculous Capitol people was a decent way to earn her approval. "You don't like dresses? They're the best part of being forced to go to these parties."

"I do be liking them, but only the ones that I can be moving in." She wrinkled her nose again.

"Well, that's good. I don't know what I'd do with you if you didn't like dresses. Just ask for shorter ones and you can move just fine." If the Stylists were swayed on the shoe issue, hem height probably wouldn't be too difficult. "Although there's the food, too, that's a nice part of the parties. That's about it."

Pruna wrinkled her nose, that was a good idea. If she managed to convince them. They didn't seem to listen to her a lot.

"Do we be being allowed to be eating it?"

"What, the food?" Momoko stared at her. "Of course we are, that's what it's here for, isn't it?"

Pruna really had no idea, she had just been told she had to come. She beamed though and looked around for some food to grab.

"I did be thinking we did just be here to be looking stupid."

"Well that's a big reason why we're here, yes," Momoko couldn't help but agree. "But the food is the good part of why we're here. Just--follow me. You really didn't think we could eat the food?" She turned to walk to the nearest display of food.

The girl shrugged, "It did be seeming a lot for people they do be wanting to be killing." But she followed with a smile looking at the food in wonder, not really recognizing most of it.

"Oh, that's for the other place, not here. Here they want a different sort of entertainment from us." Momoko waved a hand dismissively, then spread her arms wide, gesturing at the spread. "Well? What do you want? You do eat, don't you?"

"Of course I do be eating." She stared at the food, not even sure what to try first. She picked up a cake, automatically going for things she thought would be sweet.

"What entertainment do they be wanting here?"

"Not everyone here does, apparently," she said, remembering the poor plant lady with a shake of her head. She grinned a little when Pruna picked the cake, and followed her lead. An enjoyer of sweets, perhaps there was hope for the girl. "Good choice."

She selected some of the chocolate covered strawberries while she thought over an answer to Pruna's question. "Well, almost any kind, really. It depends on the person. I'm naturally cute, so I use that to entertain people. What can you do? Besides killing," she added hurriedly.

"Yes I did be meeting an alien who did only be eating grass." She said biting into the cake grinning as Momoko picked one up too. Also strawberries and... she wasn't sure what the brown stuff was and she poked at it suspiciously before licking her finger.

Alright she liked that, she popped the strawberry into her mouth with a grin and wrinkled her nose at the question. No one had ever asked her anything like that before. "Well... I can be stealing, and I do be being good at watching people and I do be being a good climber but they will no be believing me because that stupid tree did be breaking."

"I don't know why they bother taking in us plain old humans if they can get aliens," Momoko commented, watching Pruna's exploration of the food. "Get a bowl of just chocolate sauce, you can dip almost anything in it and it will be good."

Tips on eating sweets, this was a much better Mentoring job than trying to explain survival. "Watching and stealing, I don't think that'll be much help, unless maybe you make up some story about your life back home. Something like, the poor street urchin stealing bread just to get by. Why wouldn't someone believe you could climb? Most kids can, can't they?"

Was that the brown stuff? Pruna happily followed the advice finding a pile of small bowls and taking one, spooning chocolate into it. There were plenty of things on the table and she began to experiment dipping them into the sauce.

She wrinkled her nose, "'am no urchin." Though she knew a lot of kids who were. "And because I fell."

"It doesn't matter what you are. If what you are makes a good story, then tell it, if not, then lie. You can lie, can't you?" she asked, simply. "Why didn't you just climb it again?"

"I can be lying." She told her, not able to think of a good story at all. She was just her, there wasn't much story to be told.

"Because a stupid person did be landing on me and my foot did be being crushed and broken and I could no be climbing with it."

"Good, lying is important, especially if you're boring in reality." Momoko eyed the small girl. "Someone landed on you?"

"I do no be being boring." She told her wrinkling her nose and nodded, "Yes, two people did be, we did be falling together."

"You better be sure of that," said Momoko knowledgeably. "Boring is a death sentence. Is that how you died? People falling on you?" That would have been an embarrassing way to die.

I do be being sure, I will be being interesting." She hoped... She would have to work out how first.

She shook her head and wrinkled her nose again. "I did no be dying like that, I did be escaping but I did be being slow and a stupid man did be catching me."

"You were killed by someone stupid?" That was nearly as embarrassing. "I thought you were good at killing, I assumed that meant you were good at not being killed too."

"I do be being. I did be surviving eleven years did I no be?" That's an achievement. In her eyes.

She stuck her tongue out at Momoko because she was embarrassed that she had gotten killed. "I will be winning next time."

"Is that hard?" Her brows furrowed. "I survived 17 years before I came here, it wasn't exactly difficult."

Momoko resisted the urge to stick her tongue out back, instead taking the chance to try and shove a piece of cinnamon roll into Pruna's mouth. "Then you better avoid stupid people next time."

"Well maybe your world did be umpfffff," she glared as something was put in her mouth, but her glare lessened after a moment because that was delicious. She concentrated on eating it for a moment and nodded.
