Welcome to the Victoria Ascendant, latest in the Ascendant line of luxury yachts as built by the Nadir company. Tonight, the Victoria Ascendant is the stage set for a spectacular party, also paid for by the company and specifically designed and organised by a team of event specialists overseen by your host for this evening, Timaeus Nadir- wealthy eligible bachelor, melodramatic heir apparent to the company chair, frequent sponsor of the Games. The Victoria Ascendant is fully equipped with every obscenely luxurious item imaginable, and practically drips opulence.

When first welcomed aboard you will be assured that your every need will be seen to, your every desire catered for. Staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have or guide you to various areas of the ship, provide you with food, drink, or suggestions of how best to take advantage of the Victoria Ascendant's many amenities- they are here as hosts, but also as salespeople for those of the guests with money to burn- this party is serving more than one purpose. Tributes who responded to their invite will also receive a delicate, hand-written note in a golden envelope as they board- the content of which will be posted as a reply to their response to this post.(I'll do this once your character turns up.)

Although the Victoria Ascendant has a magnificent dining room for formal, sit-down occasions, the food for the party will be circulating the various lounge areas and decks. There is also a buffet table, for those of you who prefer to help yourselves, and a fully stocked bar. Provided are a baffling variety of foods and beverages, seemingly unconnected- but each tribute will find that if at any point during their stay in the Capitol they have requested a particular food or drink item, it is available here. Or, at least, the closest approximation the catering staff could conjure up. Seating is provided in intimate groupings around tables for the most part, though there are large, sprawling couches against the walls. Central to the dining area is a magnificent aquarium filled with brightly coloured fish. Anyone looking closely enough will recognise them- varieties of piranha- but don't worry, they've been more than adequately fed and the glass is thick.

While there are various screens displaying the Games throughout the ship, Viewing is also taking place on an enormous screen, set up in a seperate lounge area with full floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side. Here, staff wait to take bets or help organise the giving of sponsor gifts. Large, comfortable couches line the room, and the central table overflows with a spectacular arrangement of edible flowers and fruit.

Later in the evening, you will be told that the firework display is about to begin, and invited to go up onto the main deck to watch. The fireworks themselves will be launched from smaller boats across the lake, and the display is set to be truly spectacular. It will be set to some music that Tributes may find familiar- various melodies pulled from the most recent Arena. The large swimming pool on the deck is open, but it is too early in the year to be comfortable to use. Instead, it is being used as an unusual centrepiece for the evening. Floating in the illuminated water is a gigantic iceberg, sculpted into a stylised model of the current arena and populated with frozen figures. Eagle-eyed Tributes may be able to spot themselves depicted in ice- more often than not, the moment of their deaths are the pose of choice, if a little tweaked for the sake of a more dramatic scene.

"Good, lying is important, especially if you're boring in reality." Momoko eyed the small girl. "Someone landed on you?"

"I do no be being boring." She told her wrinkling her nose and nodded, "Yes, two people did be, we did be falling together."

"You better be sure of that," said Momoko knowledgeably. "Boring is a death sentence. Is that how you died? People falling on you?" That would have been an embarrassing way to die.

I do be being sure, I will be being interesting." She hoped... She would have to work out how first.

She shook her head and wrinkled her nose again. "I did no be dying like that, I did be escaping but I did be being slow and a stupid man did be catching me."

"You were killed by someone stupid?" That was nearly as embarrassing. "I thought you were good at killing, I assumed that meant you were good at not being killed too."

"I do be being. I did be surviving eleven years did I no be?" That's an achievement. In her eyes.

She stuck her tongue out at Momoko because she was embarrassed that she had gotten killed. "I will be winning next time."

"Is that hard?" Her brows furrowed. "I survived 17 years before I came here, it wasn't exactly difficult."

Momoko resisted the urge to stick her tongue out back, instead taking the chance to try and shove a piece of cinnamon roll into Pruna's mouth. "Then you better avoid stupid people next time."

"Well maybe your world did be umpfffff," she glared as something was put in her mouth, but her glare lessened after a moment because that was delicious. She concentrated on eating it for a moment and nodded.

"I will be being."

"And you should learn to talk properly as well," Momoko added thoughtfully. "They'll find it cute for awhile, but they'll get tired of it eventually, especially if they start to think it's too much work to figure out what you're saying." Although she had to admit to herself it wasn't really that hard once you got used to it. But audiences were fickle and lazy.

"I do be talking properly." Pruna glared at her, "It do be all of you who do be talking silly and it do be difficult for me to be figuring out what you do be saying but you do no be hearing me complaining."

She sniffed. "You're outnumbered. As far as we're concerned, it's the people out there," she waved her fingers in the direction of the city, "Who decide what's proper and what's not. However horrible their sense of propriety actually is."

"Well they do be being stupid." She wrinkled her nose, she understood why she had to do as they said, as they held power over her, but she didn't like it.

"Yes," Momoko nodded, popping a strawberry into her mouth. "Yes, they are. But so are most people. It's annoying, but useful."

Pruna nodded, it was useful even if irritating. She took the opportunity to dip another strawberry into the chocolate. "At least their food do be being tasty."

Momoko grinned. "You have better priorities than nearly everyone else I've met here. You're smarter than most of them too, I think. You might actually get out."

"I will be getting out." She told her pointing the strawberry at her for a moment before grinning. "Did you be winning your first arena?"

She shrugged, attempting to look careless, not embarrassed. Or traumatized. "No, not my first time. I was in...a few. But I had completely useless Mentors. And Stylists and Escort, and just, everyone really."

Pruna nodded, she hadn't thought she'd won the first time, she had said she had won by being smart so she had probably studied everyone lots.

"Useless people do be being stupid, you do be being good to be winning despite them."

"I was," Momoko agreed, pleased, before an unexpected twinge of conscience compelled her to add, "I mean, I did have help. Allies, in the Arena, they're important too."

Pruna nodded, they did seem important. She thought her and Sandy could be allies, they would make a good team. "But you did be killing them all in the end right? So you could be winning?"

"Well," Momoko started, spurred into something like honesty mostly because it was all out there on tape, even if Pruna didn't seem to have watched any of it yet. "Mostly I let them kill each other, until I was the only one left." Until it was her and Wyatt, and he--he decided she should win.

Yes well, Pruna had learned how to turn the TV on and watch whatever was happening then, but watching old tapes was still beyond her.

"Well that do be being a good tactic." She grinned, "You must have been killing someone yourself though."

"A few." When they asked her to. "Not on the ice, though, not when I won. I didn't kill anyone that Arena, didn't have to." She glanced over at Pruna. "Did you manage to kill anyone?" She couldn't remember if Pruna had already said if she had or not, wasn't sure which was more believable.

"You did be winning without killing anyone?" Pruna didn't know whether to be impressed or disappointed.

"I did be, only two though, I will be doing better next time."

"Not a single person, not with my own hands," confirmed Momoko, doing her best to sound proud and to push Wyatt's face out of her mind.

"That's right, you will, now that you've got me behind you." There were probably rules against Mentoring someone from a different District, but Momoko didn't care. She'd rather back someone she liked, who seemed clever enough to actually win, then the random Tributes who shared her arbitrary District.
