On the morning of February 14th when the Tributes come down for breakfast they're greeted by an impressive holiday themed spread. Pink and red baked goods, chocolates shaped like hearts, beautiful red and pink flowers, adorable stuffed animals all line the table.

On the table is also a sign in cursive that reads:

To our beloved Tributes, Victors, Mentors, Escorts and Stylists. Enjoy your holiday. -- Bartlett Industries

Most of the sweets are completely harmless, but if the Tributes taste the chocolate covered cherries or caramels they find themselves suddenly acting very strangely...

Chocolates were one thing Clint could get behind at this shindig.

"So you don't poke, what makes you think things are buggered?"

[mudbloodhater]

Draco just smirked, popping another chocolate into his mouth in turn, looking really quite proud of himself, "I've been here a little while; I can tell when things are buggered, thanks."

"So how are they buggered here?" He asked, stealing another chocolate himself.

[mudbloodhater]

"Look around you, mate," he stated, one arm waving in a slightly grandiose gesture that - when accompanied by the look he was giving Clint - came up to Draco very much thinking that he was dealing with someone who couldn't follow basic conversations. Perhaps it was just his own fault, for not being clear enough in things. One or the other.

But then he dropped his voice, leaning in a little. "I can't tell you that, though. They're always watching us. It's sort of creepy, if you ask me."

Clint was totally fine with him thinking he was a little slow. It served him well sometimes when people didn't realize just how much he saw.

"Lab rats, huh?"

[mudbloodhater]

"In a sense. You really haven't been here that long, have you?" He questioned mildly, warily eyeing him for a moment before shrugging and letting it go.

"What, you don't watch the show? Thought everybody here did."

He didn't have all the tributes down yet, but he at least knew everybody who was still in the arena when he died.

[mudbloodhater]

"Only when I have to. I've so many better things to do with my time," he chirruped, "So only really when Effie says I have to."

"You're not a, uh, tribute, then?" Clint asked, looking him over.

[mudbloodhater]

Draco merely rolled his eyes. "Would I be here if I weren't a Tribute? I like to distance myself from all of it when I can help it."

[from_a_distance]

"And you don't see the need to try and work out what everyone here can do?"

[mudbloodhater]

"I've seen what most of them can do first hand. What do I need to watch the screens for?" He shrugged. "That suggests I get some sort of kick out of it."

"Things are clearer from a distance," he said, shrugging as well.

"So what do you get a kick out of?" he asked, smirking as he leaned in a little closer to steal another chocolate.

[mudbloodhater]

"Fun things, obviously. Depends on who's asking, though." A grin started to tug at the corners of Draco's mouth, the chocolates taking hold and slipping a flirtatious thread through the words.

"Say I'm asking. What kinda fun things?"

[mudbloodhater]

"Well, reading, but that's generally by myself. And I wouldn't say it's a 'kick', per se; it's a bit boring, if you think about it. But other than that? I don't know, I rather like getting to know people, if you will."

And goodness, if those chocolates weren't making him prone to just talking.

"It is a bit boring, yeah," Clint agreed with a laugh. "How do you like getting to know people, if I will?"

[mudbloodhater]

"Generally over a drink or two." Theoretically. Assuming they wouldn't give him looks because he was only 16. "Possibly on slightly more intimate terms than the Capitol parties allow."

Clint was a really bad judge of age, or he might have commented on the drinking thing.

Or not.

"Intimate, huh?"

Probably for the best that Clint was a bad judge of age regardless.

"One of the better ways to get to know anyone, I'd think."

"Yeah, I can definitely think of worse."

He's just gonna take a step closer to you, Draco. Don't mind him.

[mudbloodhater]

The smirk tracing along his mouth suggested Draco didn't mind at all. He merely cocked his head to one side, "And it's not like the lot of us don't have plenty of time to get to know each other, either."

"That is...also true." He leaned against the wall on one arm. He did have to look up at Draco, but he didn't mind so much. "Got a lotta time on my hands right now."

[mudbloodhater]

"I think we all do. Between Arenas and all that - what's there really to do besides wander about the Capitol in hopes of finding something-" Someone? "-interesting?"

There was something to be said for being tall, and he let himself lean against the wall as well, at least doing his part to lessen the distance Clint had to look up at him a little.

Clint's lips twitched up into a smirk. "What's your definition of interesting?"
