After Some woke up in his room, a few days ago, he gave himself time. A little peace, a little space. He stayed in his room, he favored his restored leg. He tried to get reaccustomed to the paste they pretended was food for him. He stole a pair of tribbles from the room down the hall, and rebuilt the nest that the avoxes had tidied away in his absence.

On the third day, though, he armored himself in shawl and hat, deliberately asking Two's stylist to help him choose clothes to be a little silly, a little disarming. He wanted to be approachable. And then he headed out. He rode the glass elevators, looking out, down one and up the other and down again. He visited the rooftop garden, and and picked twigs there off the potted trees. He went to the dining hall, to eat, or play along in that pretense again at any rate. He left the tower, going out into the streets and looking for a cafe he thought he remembered from before. And everywhere he went, he sought company.

WHO: Sam Winchester and OPEN
WHAT: Sam's been killed. Now he's alive. He's not really happy about either.
WHEN: Anytime after his death in Week 4
WHERE: District 4 Apartments, Training Center Common Area, and as he explores, the vicinity
WARNINGS: None yet

The last thing he remembered was being dead. Okay, that didn't narrow things down much, because this wasn't the first time Sam had woken up when he shouldn't have. He'd had an inkling this would be the case, here, given their technology and even more advanced sadism. But he hadn't really been thinking about it, in his final moments. He'd been trying to protect De. Why? He wasn't sure, except it had seemed the thing to do.

And anyway, he'd gotten out of the Arena without killing anyone. Wasn't that a sort of victory?

///

Sam wandered around the training center, poking into any corner he could find, looking for any information that would lead him out. It was fruitless, he already knew this, and his search was, at times, perfunctory. Habit. Because he had to be doing something, but sometimes, that something resembled the shuffling of an automaton. Everything he knew was gone. And he alternated between manic rage and dogged acceptance. Both were exhausting, even if his body no longer felt the effects of starvation.

///

It was inevitable that he'd start to explore. When he wasn't stopped, he ventured further. And it occurred to him that their captors were supremely confident that they would be unable to escape. It was also likely, he thought, that he was being watched constantly--which was why he'd yet to use the communication device. But he could not be deterred from action, even if it was just staying in motion, looking for those he'd met before, inquiring into the deaths of those he'd been briefly comrades with.
7th-Jan-2014 07:31 pm - District Tours: Train Ride
etcircenses: (Default)
Prior to their departure, the Tributes have to suffer a photoshoot, a few interviewers asking them a thousand questions about how excited they are, and more than a few members of their style teams asking the Tributes to bring back mementos. "Don't worry about quality, dears, we can get that all here - we want you to bring us souvenirs for the novelty of it!"

The day of the trip, Tributes are roused bright and early, well before sunrise, and driven in Peacekeeper vans to the train station. It's all rather dour, and not like the start of a vacation at all; if one didn't know what was going on, and if the Escorts and head Stylists weren't chattering excitedly, they might think they were being hauled off to a war zone.

The trains, on the other hand, are plush, fancy things, and there is one per District. There's a single blockaded car for cargo, another for maintenance, driving and Peacekeeping staff, and then several others which are open to the Tributes. A dinner car serves three meals and has small snacks available throughout the day. Another car is an entertainment center with a selection of Capitol-approved films, and a the last one is the Tributes' temporary room. It has a bunk bed for each with sheets that was a truly intense threadcount, and a single massage chair in the back. The Stylists, Mentors and Escorts sleep in the same car, although separated by a partition.

Unfortunately, all the Tributes have to share the sleeping quarters, and it's first-come, first-served.

For the most part, the trip is so smooth that the surface of a glass full of water would not be disturbed. The trips to the closer Districts are a little under a day, but the furthest Districts - 3, 4, 7, 8, 11 and 12 - take nearly 48 hours.

[OOC: For Tributes accepted during the District tours, you can assume they arrived before the departure so they can participate in the District festivities. During the train ride there is still network access. There will only be this post and the party post from the mods for this event, so players are encouraged to make their own of their characters exploring their surroundings and enjoying the Districts.]
