The avoxs have replaced three pillows since she returned and somewhere in her haze, she hoped they didn't get in trouble for the mess they were throwing away. Torn to shreds, covered in green tears, it's not their fault. She's the one acting like a wiggler. Acting like her whole world has fallen apart. Childlishly holing up in her room, waiting for Signless to come to her, to apologize for the hell he put her through. But that's stupid, she realized. Selfish. Cruel.

Eventually she forced herself to watch the coverage. Watch every moment, from Psiionic and Signless, to Terezi and Karkat--the Ininiate who makes her blood boil...To the death in her arms. She watched it twice more, until the tears stop falling and she could face it as it is.

And she still does not know what to say to him. The hate boils but mixes with pity and god she needs a pap, she needs a soothing touch because the Ininiate is somewhere in these walls and she wants to--needs to hunt him down and make him pay.

That's how she ends up wandering around, trying to find him. Down to District 1 where Karkat lives and up to Twelve where he lives. Her stupid selfishness needs to end.

As much as he doesn't want to adjust to living here, he should meet the rest of the people in his district. They're supposed to be teammates, as much as anyone can be when the ultimate goal is to kill everyone else. So when the Disciple comes back out the elevator, Justin is waiting. He's wearing his normal robes, because he promised the stylists he won't leave the floor.

She looks a little surprised to see someone out and about--Somehow she was used to some solitude in their lounge. A new face did prompt her to try to pull herself together, as much as she could have her experiences.

"Hello..." She wasn't sure if her appearance would spark surprise or be completely overlooked.

He smiles, empty politeness. Justin Law would rather be out and about than hiding in his room all day.

"Hello. Do you live here as well?"

"Yes--well I just came back after well...the arena." She paused and looked around. Not that their living quarters were full of people, but usually there were a few more noises in the rooms beyond this. More of their district must have had luck in the arena.

"There aren't many of us back yet are there?"

"Not yet. I believe I was the first to return, and it has been rather quiet." His own first death was nothing short of humiliating.

"It'll be busier soon enough." She ran a hand though her hair, snagging it after a moment and giving up, "...I'm not good with first impressions. Are you simply waiting to meet people or..."

"Ah," he pulls out a friendly smile, "No, I simply noticed you leaving the floor and decided to take it upon myself to make your acquaintance."

She smiled back hesitantly, nodding as she takes a seat. It seems easier to be comfortable when she is having a conversation.

"Well it's nice to meet you I suppose? Not exactly in these circumstances. I'm The Disciple."

"Disciple of what?" He sits, at the very least looking like he's interested in what she has to say. The headphones (and the dull pulse of rock music leaking from them) might add something like a lack of sincerity, but he's following the conversation well enough.

"Signless. I'm his follower, his disciple." She pauses, "If you know who that is. He's been on the television I'm sure."

She tilts her head at the headphones, not sure exactly what he's doing. The music is audible but she's not sure what purpose that serves or if he's just perpetually bored.

"Ah. The adult male with the small horns." He'd seen the Signless on the videos. Hard to miss the troll in the highlights reels.

"Where I am from, 'disciple' usually indicates religious affiliation."

She raises an eyebrow and shakes her head a little. Humans. Strange. Not that she hasn't heard of religions, but they were merely more of the cultish type, relegated to those indigos in their rainbow madness.

"It's my title. It simply means I was his most faithful follower, the one who wrote his words down and such. He...espoused a philosophy, not a religion."

"How fortunate! To be able to write down the words of your leader as he spoke them! To pave the way for generations to follow!" Justin can get really excited about religions.

She's a little startle by the enthusiasm but she brightens, spreading her hands. Even if her faith in this whole philosophy is slightly diminished, she will still be glad to talk to someone about it without being written off as a crazy person.

"It was a gift--I've learned most of my work and writings didn't survive the sweeps but I don't regret it in the least. It was there for someone and that is what counted."

Justin isn't honestly the best person to talk about sanity and religion.

"Ah, I suppose it is. To do the will of the person most important to you is all that anyone can hope to do."

She brightened even more, smiling and nodding along with him.

"Precisely. It's...the most I could have hoped for."

"What sorts of things did you write down?"

"His words, his philosophies--the things we all did. The places we went. Any stories I think might prove interesting, useful or--well--inspiring?" She feels her cheeks heat, green showing under gray before she shakes her head roughly, "I was part of a group of his close followers and we took off all over Alternia. I was young and I thought we might do great things some day...So I thought I would write what I would want to know about our journey and the things we believed in, if I were to find it all later."

Justin Law is more than just slightly religious. Religion is the one thing in his world that makes complete sense, that he clings to no matter what else happens.

"Could you tell me one of the stories?"

After a moment of pondering, she hesitates. Most of their stories require a bit of explanation for someone who is not a troll. She hopes he doesn't mind.

"Well the story of his childhood is fairly interesting but I don't know how remarkable it would be to a species that doesn't seem to have lusii. Do you always raise your young?"0

"Generally." Not always. "What are lusii?"

"Lusii, or if just one, a lusus, are creatures that take care of wrigglers--er small trolls, until they come of age and can fend for themselves. Mine was a great purrbeast, with a mane and two tails, he was wonderful. And you can have all sorts of things, a dragon, a baabeast, barkbeasts; they took care of you, fed you, and helped you learn the skills needed to survive."

There's a hidden tone of 'obviously, why don't you have one, how do you survive with an adult taking care of you who has so many responsibilities of their own'. Even living with a troll who was raised by another troll, there's an ingrained sense that it was an anomaly. After all, The Dolorosa had to leave her post and her calling in life to do it, running and fighting her way across the deserts to simply survive with a wriggler. Things were much simpler with a lusus.

"Ah, do they not have their own young to care for? Why would they watch over another species?"

"I don't know, I suppose they must if they survive, but they've always taken care of our young and in turn, when we're old enough, we provide them with food and protection in turn. It's a relationship of mutual benefit."

"It seems strange. I would not have thought a species so focused on survival would let their young be cared for by another species."
