Who: Glinda Upland and OPEN
What: A support group for people who've lost their powers in the Capitol.
Where: A suitably swankified meeting room in the capitol.
When: Sunday afternoon/evening.
Warnings/Notes: It's a support group intended for those who've lost their powers but there's nothing to say that other characters wouldn't hear about it and want to come along. Glinda wouldn't have anyone removed that wasn't invited. Feel free to use this as a party post and talk to other power nerfed characters.

The invitation had been sent to the Capitol escorts with the intention of them passing it on to the correct people in their groups of tributes. It was clearly intended for people who'd had their powers taken by the Capitol with no way of using them, though a few got given to those that shouldn't have received them.

Glinda's invitation. It's pink with charmingly fancy script. It invites the tributes to a gathering of 'likewise' people.

The meeting place was tastefully but sparingly decorated with lots of comfortable chairs for sitting and tucked away corners that would be perfect to discuss matters privately if an individual was shy about their particular power. Every care had been taken to ensure that the tributes would feel at home in the small cosy meeting hall and Glinda would take every care to ensure that she spoke to each and every tribute to welcome them and learn their name. She had been slacking in her self appointed duty of caring for those who needed it most and there were some here that definitely required her attentions.

After everybody had been sufficiently welcomed in and it seemed no more tributes, mentors or escorts were to arise the witch took to the pupil. "My fellow tributes. I can only thank you all for attending as gracefully as I might wish to though it pales in comparison to the gratications I feel toward you all." She pressed a hand to her heart. "I have brought you here as I know I am not the only person within these walls that has had her powers taken from her for her own protection and that of our gracious hosts; the Nation of Panem and President Snow. I am sure each and every one of us understands deep in our hearts the depth of feeling that the nation holds for us as it's tributes. And it's sincere wish to keep us safe when not competing in the arena." A subtle warning to the more foolhardy in the audience.

"But, for once I wish for us to have a unique opportunity that we have brought about ourselves. There is many a person in this room whom you have doubtlessly never spoken with before." She spread her arms. "Let us speak and know each other better. For we should be there to support our fellow tributes who have lost what so many believe to be an essential part of ourselves in the Capitol's rightful strivances to protect both us and it's citizens. I suggest that perhaps we might learn that we are in fact more than what we have had taken. But most of all, I wish that you all might find close friends and good fortune here."

And with that charged little speech she gestured to little crowd of avoxes who began circling with food and drink and all were encouraged to socialise among themselves whilst polite music played in the background.

"I was thinking of the Games," Nikola says lightly. "It would seem many of us have given something up to be here, so to speak."

That's a question he had been wondering about for a while-- the way some worlds (like his) were overrepresented compared to others, why so many of them seemed to have some sort of power that was just taken away anyway, the differences between the people chosen now and the way the games were run beforehand.

"Your guess is as good as mine," is what he says, though. "Apparently it used to be children from the districts-- kids from this world, not other ones. And they were, uh... more permanent. So there has to be some sort of reason for changing demographics when they changed it..."

"Yes, I've heard that," Nikola says lightly. "I'd imagine the purpose of the Games has not changed, but something in their efficacy, perhaps?"

"It might be there's some wiggle room in who actually makes it here," he suggests aloud, the closest he can come to wondering if they're actually able to control who arrives at all, or if they're just making do with the ones who get pulled in. "But either way... bread and circuses, right?"

Nikola has wondered the same thing. He isn't convinced they chose wisely with him as a Tribute. Especially if they intend to keep muting his powers.

He tilts his head. "They do seem to have managed a rather impressive circus. Is the bread equally ostentatious?"

"Yeah, I bet it's a barrel of laughs from above." But he moves past that fairly quickly, not wanting to be overheard dwelling too much on how terrible everything is. "But I'm telling you, they go all out for the food."

One hand in his pocket, he nods at the spread around the room. "This isn't even the half of it. It's crazy."

"The view from the top is general best," Nikola agrees. He would not echo the sentiment, so perhaps it's best it isn't voiced.

"I have to say I'm intrigued by the opulence. If we run with the obvious parallels to Rome, we are remarkably well-treated gladiators..."

"Speak for yourself," he mumbles, taking a sip of his drink and making a face at it-- safer than at anything else. "I'm more for the run and hide plan than the fight it out one."

"How has that worked for you thus far?" he asks, arching an eyebrow elegantly.

"...Not well," he admits after a second, smiling almost sheepishly. "I keep getting treated like a gladiator, anyway." Someday, though, maybe he'll be boring enough to change that-- though, given certain problems, it's not entirely in his control.

"Perhaps if you fought instead of hiding, you could get past that," Nikola suggests lightly, an amused smirk playing at the corners of his mouth.

"No thanks," he says immediately, ducking his head as if he's laughing it off-- but it's more so he doesn't look as obvious averting his eyes, so he can hide the little grimace he makes at the idea. "Third time's the charm, right?"

"So the popular adage goes," Nikola agrees with a smile. "I suppose we'll have to wait and see if it holds true."

He smiles, too, but more nervously. "I wouldn't hold your breath."

But he doesn't want to talk about him, not for anywhere near this long, so he presses on almost immediately. "Bruce Banner, by the way."

"Nikola Tesla," he says with a smug smile. He doesn't exactly expect to be recognized, but there's always the possibility.

He laughs, because he assumes this is just someone with a coincidentally famous name (why would Nikola Tesla, of all people, be here, and at a party for people with powers?). "I bet science class in high school was a pain."

Nikola smirks a bit. At least his name rang a bell.

"When I was that age, it didn't carry quite the weight it does today."

"Yeah? I hear the class of 1885 was a good year," he says with a smile of his own, still clearly joking.

"1872, but close," Nikola answers with a chuckle.

He frowns slightly, going over the dates in his head--

"...Are you saying you're Nikola Tesla? Er, the Nikola Tesla?"

"The very same," he says, smiling brightly.

"That's..." and he laughs, because he can't actually be talking to Nikola Tesla. "Really? And you're at a party for people with..."

Is that how someone gets that many patents?

"Powers, yes," Nikola finishes easily, smirking a little. "Don't tell me you're surprised."

"I mean, you're sort of held up as the peak in human ingenuity, but..."

Once he says it out loud, though, maybe it makes a lot more sense.

"...Is that what the pigeon thing was all about?"

He was mostly that way before the experiment, but he does attribute some of his intelligence to his heritage, at least.

"About my powers? No."
