Who| Timaeus Nadir and all his guests. If you are in the Capitol, you've been invited!
What| A spectacular Viewing Party and opportunity for tributes to get sponsorship
Where| The Victoria Ascendant, on the lake
When| After the most recent death roll!
Warnings/Notes| Probable skeeviness of the Nice Guy variety.

Welcome to the Victoria Ascendant, latest in the Ascendant line of luxury yachts as built by the Nadir company. Tonight, the Victoria Ascendant is the stage set for a spectacular party, also paid for by the company and specifically designed and organised by a team of event specialists overseen by your host for this evening, Timaeus Nadir- wealthy eligible bachelor, melodramatic heir apparent to the company chair, frequent sponsor of the Games. The Victoria Ascendant is fully equipped with every obscenely luxurious item imaginable, and practically drips opulence.

When first welcomed aboard you will be assured that your every need will be seen to, your every desire catered for. Staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have or guide you to various areas of the ship, provide you with food, drink, or suggestions of how best to take advantage of the Victoria Ascendant's many amenities- they are here as hosts, but also as salespeople for those of the guests with money to burn- this party is serving more than one purpose. Tributes who responded to their invite will also receive a delicate, hand-written note in a golden envelope as they board- the content of which will be posted as a reply to their response to this post.(I'll do this once your character turns up.)

Although the Victoria Ascendant has a magnificent dining room for formal, sit-down occasions, the food for the party will be circulating the various lounge areas and decks. There is also a buffet table, for those of you who prefer to help yourselves, and a fully stocked bar. Provided are a baffling variety of foods and beverages, seemingly unconnected- but each tribute will find that if at any point during their stay in the Capitol they have requested a particular food or drink item, it is available here. Or, at least, the closest approximation the catering staff could conjure up. Seating is provided in intimate groupings around tables for the most part, though there are large, sprawling couches against the walls. Central to the dining area is a magnificent aquarium filled with brightly coloured fish. Anyone looking closely enough will recognise them- varieties of piranha- but don't worry, they've been more than adequately fed and the glass is thick.

While there are various screens displaying the Games throughout the ship, Viewing is also taking place on an enormous screen, set up in a seperate lounge area with full floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side. Here, staff wait to take bets or help organise the giving of sponsor gifts. Large, comfortable couches line the room, and the central table overflows with a spectacular arrangement of edible flowers and fruit.

Later in the evening, you will be told that the firework display is about to begin, and invited to go up onto the main deck to watch. The fireworks themselves will be launched from smaller boats across the lake, and the display is set to be truly spectacular. It will be set to some music that Tributes may find familiar- various melodies pulled from the most recent Arena. The large swimming pool on the deck is open, but it is too early in the year to be comfortable to use. Instead, it is being used as an unusual centrepiece for the evening. Floating in the illuminated water is a gigantic iceberg, sculpted into a stylised model of the current arena and populated with frozen figures. Eagle-eyed Tributes may be able to spot themselves depicted in ice- more often than not, the moment of their deaths are the pose of choice, if a little tweaked for the sake of a more dramatic scene.

Enjoy!

Gaila laughed, cheeks dimpling as she did so. "Could be worse. Imagine if it was all colour-mood changing. Mood changing boxers've gotta be awkward if you popper a boner."

"Wow, that was a horror that I didn't need in my head." Suddenly he was back in high school again. Those were memories better left dead and buried. "Let's not give them ideas."

He leaned back and looked around with a slight frown. "This is the future but it's not very future like. No aliens or moon bases and while magnetic levitation is neat it's hardly put to any practical use. I'm a bit disappointed really."

"Well there's aliens. Don't know if there's moon bases here or not though. And I guess I'm not their alien technically." Gaila replied thoughtfully, waiting for the inevitable 'oh my goodness you're an alien? I would have never guessed if not for your greenness and lax morals' squealing that she usually got.

Oh, he knew what sort of alien she was, or at least he has a pretty good idea; he had grown up on TOS after all. "Yeah, alien imports aren't exactly what I imagined for the future." The future was less future than he had hoped for, but then again he never thought he'd actually see the future outside of being uploaded into some future Doll for mainframe maintenance or whatever Rossum would use employee wedges for in the future.

He grabbed a fizzy drink from a passing Avox and downed half of it in one go. It made his head feel light and his nose itched. Definitely not the alcohol of the 21st century. "So, being the only alien that I know of you must be the bell of your stylists' ball."

"Not really." Gaila crinkled her nose in reply, more comfortable with talking about fashion than the breakdown of ethnicities in her generation. That seemed too complex for her. "She and I have a somewhat tumultuous relationship. She tries to dress me in bread and every time I she does I take it off and wander around naked until she's forced to give me something not made out of food to wear." Not that she minded being naked.

"Did you tell her about the danger of being attacked by pigeons if you wear bread?" Food as clothing. It was weird in his world and weird in this one. "Also, bread is more of a fall fashion isn't it? What with Thanksgiving and all." Did aliens from the future have Thanksgiving? He did remember TNG had an episode that mentioned it, but Gaila was so TOS.

"Maybe you should design your own stuff. Show them the fashions of space. I bet they'd eat it up here."

She laughed. "You're funny. I like you." She abruptly announced.

"But, I don't want to see a shit-ton of green gals around. I don't want people stealing my style and doin' it badly. It'd reflect badly on me." Gaila replied with a toss of her hair over her shoulder. "It was bad enough on Orion where every girl looked practically the same. I had to dye my hair to even get recognised. Oh my goddess, you don't think that's gonna become a thing if I win, d'you?" She asked, crinkling her nose.

He wasn't sure he wanted her to like him, but he wasn't going to dissuade her. "Of course. I bet they're already lining up for skin dying as we speak. Nothing is off-limits in this place, even food." Topher grabbed a snack off the tray of a roving servant and shoved it into his mouth.

"So, what did you do back home?" He had an idea but it would be a bit rude to ask how the slavery thing was going.

"On Earth? I'mma computer engineer with a specialisation in warp tech." She replied, tucking a wayward curl back off her face and taking a sip of her drink. The idea of people dying themselves green didn't sit well with Gaila. It really had been bad on Orion. Dying her hair had been one of her first moves of defiance to show that she wasn't like any other slavegirl. She didn't need a load of bubble brains copying her.

"I used to be a slavegirl back home though. Used to dance as my talent." She added after a moment.

He's in love. 'Computer engineer with a specialization in warp tech.' Love. It was entirely possible that he had not been resurrected after his death and was now in heaven. A special heaven filled with green women who possibly loved tech the way he loved tech. His shirt was now fire engine red and he couldn't take his eyes off Gaila.

"I would love to look at your mind. Just a peek because I'm not sure I could handle it all at once." Topher grinned. "Who am I kidding, I could totally handle it."

"Hey look! We match now!" Gaila gleefully pointed out, gesturing between her red dress and his shirt with a bright smile, reaching over and tugging on the fabric playfully. There was a discrepancy by a few shades but nothing too different.

"And sweetie, I wouldn't inflict my mind on anyone. Humans aren't built to understand my species, let alone our brains." She said with a grin of her own. "There's things up in here that would make you outright faint."

[personal profile] amoral_savior 2013-06-04 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
He glanced down at his shirt and felt his face heat up enough that he probably now matched as well. Great.

Ignoring the shirt and trying not to look too much like some love sick idiot Topher smiled and shrugged. "You'd be surprised my green friend. The mind holds the soul and I'm a soul man. Right now you're saying no, but someday my genius will sway you to the dark side."
freebitchbaby: (029 ♥ (Thinking) Only of you)

[personal profile] freebitchbaby 2013-06-07 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Gaila laughed before her expression turned darkly mischievous as she leant into his personal space, lips coming but a centimetre from his ear so that she could purr into it. "Sweetie, you can't sway someone to the dark side who's already there. I'm practically corrugated hyperbolic metamaterial already." The Orion had absolutely no qualms about what side of the moral compass she lay on.
amoral_savior: (Time and again boys are raised to be men)

[personal profile] amoral_savior 2013-06-12 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
If possible his face became redder and he backed away into the corner looking for a way to escape. Oh, he was having bad thoughts. Uncomfortable thoughts. Hey look, Timaeus was over there looking like he wanted to talk!

"Heh, you are bad for my health. I'm, uh, I'm going to mingle more because that's why I'm here, right? So, uh, see you around." He escaped as quickly as his legs would let him.
freebitchbaby: (Default)

whoops, wrong one

[personal profile] freebitchbaby 2013-06-24 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Gaila waggled her fingers at his back.

"Bye Topher." She called after him. At least she'd achieved her good dead of the day by getting him away from being a wallflower.
