Welcome to the Victoria Ascendant, latest in the Ascendant line of luxury yachts as built by the Nadir company. Tonight, the Victoria Ascendant is the stage set for a spectacular party, also paid for by the company and specifically designed and organised by a team of event specialists overseen by your host for this evening, Timaeus Nadir- wealthy eligible bachelor, melodramatic heir apparent to the company chair, frequent sponsor of the Games. The Victoria Ascendant is fully equipped with every obscenely luxurious item imaginable, and practically drips opulence.

When first welcomed aboard you will be assured that your every need will be seen to, your every desire catered for. Staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have or guide you to various areas of the ship, provide you with food, drink, or suggestions of how best to take advantage of the Victoria Ascendant's many amenities- they are here as hosts, but also as salespeople for those of the guests with money to burn- this party is serving more than one purpose. Tributes who responded to their invite will also receive a delicate, hand-written note in a golden envelope as they board- the content of which will be posted as a reply to their response to this post.(I'll do this once your character turns up.)

Although the Victoria Ascendant has a magnificent dining room for formal, sit-down occasions, the food for the party will be circulating the various lounge areas and decks. There is also a buffet table, for those of you who prefer to help yourselves, and a fully stocked bar. Provided are a baffling variety of foods and beverages, seemingly unconnected- but each tribute will find that if at any point during their stay in the Capitol they have requested a particular food or drink item, it is available here. Or, at least, the closest approximation the catering staff could conjure up. Seating is provided in intimate groupings around tables for the most part, though there are large, sprawling couches against the walls. Central to the dining area is a magnificent aquarium filled with brightly coloured fish. Anyone looking closely enough will recognise them- varieties of piranha- but don't worry, they've been more than adequately fed and the glass is thick.

While there are various screens displaying the Games throughout the ship, Viewing is also taking place on an enormous screen, set up in a seperate lounge area with full floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side. Here, staff wait to take bets or help organise the giving of sponsor gifts. Large, comfortable couches line the room, and the central table overflows with a spectacular arrangement of edible flowers and fruit.

Later in the evening, you will be told that the firework display is about to begin, and invited to go up onto the main deck to watch. The fireworks themselves will be launched from smaller boats across the lake, and the display is set to be truly spectacular. It will be set to some music that Tributes may find familiar- various melodies pulled from the most recent Arena. The large swimming pool on the deck is open, but it is too early in the year to be comfortable to use. Instead, it is being used as an unusual centrepiece for the evening. Floating in the illuminated water is a gigantic iceberg, sculpted into a stylised model of the current arena and populated with frozen figures. Eagle-eyed Tributes may be able to spot themselves depicted in ice- more often than not, the moment of their deaths are the pose of choice, if a little tweaked for the sake of a more dramatic scene.

Harley ordered one...apparently another one, and took her friends advice on the olive. Upon sampling it she made a purring sound.

"Yeeeeees~ That's what that needed! You are the best!" She cheered, not shy about buttering up one of her newest friends.

Just to look at Gaila made Harley stomach pang with homesickness. She was so much like Ivy and yet not. There was some things missing. The stinging indifference for example.

But Harley had long since mastered the art of denial...or so she told herself as she sipped her lemony beverage.

Gaila grinned. Of course she was the best. She was her.

"I'll have one of those too." She told the bartender. She glanced over at the other woman. "So, enjoying the opportunity to rub shoulders with the rich people?" She asked.

Harley pulled a face "It's nice being the center of attention." She confessed with a lopsided grin. "But these stiffs are so boring! It's like my life is the only excitement some of them have. And the rest are so bubble headed they don't even realize how dumb some of this stuff is." She leaned forward looking disgusted, "Did you hear they throw up after eating just to eat more food? Ewwwww!"

Gaila pulled a face of complete disgust. "That is so freakin' gross." She agreed. Eating was bad enough, but then throwing it up? It was an Orion's worst nightmare. "That's nasty."

"I knoooow!" Harley groaned but she smiled despite herself. "At least the foods good. What do you like? Got any favorites?" Eager to know more about her new friend, more importantly logging away information so she could cheerfully gift things to Gaila for later.

"I don't eat, sweetie." A statement that might seem mildly suspicious given Gaila's generous curves but it was technically true. "I photosynthesise. Food and the whole chewing thing is kinda gross to me." But it did give her a small advantage in the arena, provided she could get enough light.

There was a pause, the Harley cried out in joy and wrapped her arms around Gaila. There were actually tears in her eyes.

"An entire universe away, and you're so much like her I can hardly stand it!!!" She cheered and giggled snuggling the green skinned beauty, and drawing some attention once again.

"Whoa!" Harley had caught Gaila off guard and she just about managed to catch herself before they stumbled over, arm going around the other woman's waist to support her.

"Her?" Oh hell, maybe there was an Orion running around Harley's world.

"Yeah!" The blond haired girl let out a happy sigh still clinging closely. "My best pal Ivy! You two could be sisters!" She grinned broadly. "Scept you don't seem to hate humanity with a burning passion. Which is good because some of my favorite things were made by humanity.

Only occasionally when she had to deal with certain members of the male species, but she neglected to mention that in favour of giving Harley a squeeze instead. "N'aw, that's cute." At least she'd found someone to replace her friend in the short term. Panem was sorely lacking in Nyota replacements.

Harley warmed to the squeeze brightly, "So does everyone where you come from do that? Drink up sunlight like it's kool-aid and seduce there way into long nights of horizontal mambo making?" She inquired winking mischievously.

Gaila pursed her lips. "Uh. Pretty much, yeah." It was a pretty good way to sum up an Orion slavegirl's life in a more pleasant way. "But usually we just fuck, dancing is something for slaves only." She added.

Harley just laughed with fresh red in her cheeks, "That's just a saying. It means making whoopie! The beast with two backs! Or if you're feeling raunchy, fucking." She giggled once more because she rarely used that word and it felt naughty.

"Ooh." Gaila replied. She would have to add that one to her mental dictionary. Humans had so very many ways to saying fucking. Perhaps that was why they were so obsessed with it? The Orion grinned and tickled her new friend's sides because, by the Goddess that giggle was adorable and she wanted to hear more of it. "Raunchy my ass, fucking is fucking, simple as that."

Harley's blush wasn't fading anytime soon, "Tell that to my Ma. The first time she saw my Harlequin outfit? Such names! I'd never heard some of the words she invented to describe how much of a harlot I was. And the outfit is full body. But it's so close to the skin she just can't stand it." Harley cackled clearly happy to irritate her mother.

Gaila giggled along with her. "Don't need to tell me. I used to preform on stage naked sometimes. I swear to the Goddess that the human guests were worse off than anyone else. Meaner too! No Orion ever called me bad things for preforming naked!"

Harley sighed, "Yeah, it's stuff like that that makes me ashamed to be human. But at least you know we're not all like that." She grinned hopefully.

"But you were a performer? That's so cool! I've never actually been on TV or stage without it being some kind of crime...well until I was brought here anyway."

"I know you ain't. There's some bad Orions too. Some people just suck, regardless of species." Gaila shrugged in reply. She was smart enough know that a few bad apples didn't ruin the rest of the grocery store.

She cocked her head curiously. "A dancer and slavegirl." She informed her. "You were a criminal?"

"Whoa whoa whoa, slave girl?" Harley perked at the term face screwed up in a quizzical fashion. "That's either kinky or awful." Harley for one never afraid to work a little blue.

As for her own past she was an open book, "Well I started out as a Psycologist, really great stuff to study. But well...ya ever meet that someone special? You know he's bad for you but you kinda love that? And they change your whole life?"

Gaila smiled in reply. "Kinda a mixture of the both to be honest." She told her.

Her next few questions just confused her. "Not really, I love everyone I meet, it's hard to love just one person at a time for me."

Harley still looked puzzled, "Well...I'm curious. What's the deal?" Because Harley barely knew the meaning of tact.

She sighed at Gaila's response. "Fair enough. But for me I met Mister J and the minute I lay eyes on that pasty complexion, those shiny black eyes so full of laughter, I knew I wanted to be laughing with him into the sunset. He just had this...way about him. The way he moved the way he laughed, the way he choked me the first time we met in person..."

Gaila waved her hands. Way too much information way too fast for her to be able to handle. "Whoa, hold up, before we get onto the whole slave thing."

"He choked you and you love him? The fuck is up with that? The last guy who tried to choke me doesn't have balls any more." Not an exaggeration.

Harley giggled and sighed. "You shoulda seen the passion in his eyes, the swirling madness. Just thinking about it is enough to make my heart skip a beat." She smiled dreamily.

"We had out ups and downs, and I know it's unhealthy, but even after everything we went through I know I can never say know to that pasty white face or those big shiny teeth." Harley looked hopeful that her new friend would understand...or at least not shun her for what she admitted was a bad relationship.

Gaila patted her on the had. "Goddess knows I can't say anything about bad relationships. I've been in love with half of my Masters, even when they treated me bad." And then there was that thing with the Klingon dude that hadn't been particularly healthy either.

Harley nuzzled and purred into the patting like an eager kitten.

"Gotta love the bad boys, am I right?" She grinned that toothy grin. "Not everyone can really appreciate how dark they can be."
