Welcome to the Victoria Ascendant, latest in the Ascendant line of luxury yachts as built by the Nadir company. Tonight, the Victoria Ascendant is the stage set for a spectacular party, also paid for by the company and specifically designed and organised by a team of event specialists overseen by your host for this evening, Timaeus Nadir- wealthy eligible bachelor, melodramatic heir apparent to the company chair, frequent sponsor of the Games. The Victoria Ascendant is fully equipped with every obscenely luxurious item imaginable, and practically drips opulence.

When first welcomed aboard you will be assured that your every need will be seen to, your every desire catered for. Staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have or guide you to various areas of the ship, provide you with food, drink, or suggestions of how best to take advantage of the Victoria Ascendant's many amenities- they are here as hosts, but also as salespeople for those of the guests with money to burn- this party is serving more than one purpose. Tributes who responded to their invite will also receive a delicate, hand-written note in a golden envelope as they board- the content of which will be posted as a reply to their response to this post.(I'll do this once your character turns up.)

Although the Victoria Ascendant has a magnificent dining room for formal, sit-down occasions, the food for the party will be circulating the various lounge areas and decks. There is also a buffet table, for those of you who prefer to help yourselves, and a fully stocked bar. Provided are a baffling variety of foods and beverages, seemingly unconnected- but each tribute will find that if at any point during their stay in the Capitol they have requested a particular food or drink item, it is available here. Or, at least, the closest approximation the catering staff could conjure up. Seating is provided in intimate groupings around tables for the most part, though there are large, sprawling couches against the walls. Central to the dining area is a magnificent aquarium filled with brightly coloured fish. Anyone looking closely enough will recognise them- varieties of piranha- but don't worry, they've been more than adequately fed and the glass is thick.

While there are various screens displaying the Games throughout the ship, Viewing is also taking place on an enormous screen, set up in a seperate lounge area with full floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side. Here, staff wait to take bets or help organise the giving of sponsor gifts. Large, comfortable couches line the room, and the central table overflows with a spectacular arrangement of edible flowers and fruit.

Later in the evening, you will be told that the firework display is about to begin, and invited to go up onto the main deck to watch. The fireworks themselves will be launched from smaller boats across the lake, and the display is set to be truly spectacular. It will be set to some music that Tributes may find familiar- various melodies pulled from the most recent Arena. The large swimming pool on the deck is open, but it is too early in the year to be comfortable to use. Instead, it is being used as an unusual centrepiece for the evening. Floating in the illuminated water is a gigantic iceberg, sculpted into a stylised model of the current arena and populated with frozen figures. Eagle-eyed Tributes may be able to spot themselves depicted in ice- more often than not, the moment of their deaths are the pose of choice, if a little tweaked for the sake of a more dramatic scene.

Chris had spotted her as soon as he boarded, the gunner could tell just with how she was standing she wasn't comfortable with the boat.

"Glinda, here, why don't we go have a seat for a little bit, looks like you could use a breather." He slid out of his dress jacket slipping it over her shoulders. If anyone asked and she didn't want to answer he'd just say the alcohol wasn't agreeing with her.

Glinda gave a terse nod. She was afraid that if she opened her mouth then she would feel even worse. Talking seemed too dangerous. Sitting down in a nice peaceful corner would be a far preferable happenstance. Unconsciously she held onto his arm, not liking the feel of how the boat moved and rocked.

He was careful leading her to a bench, even helping her sit down. not sure if she'd wants him to sit next to her he stayed standing, gently rubbing her back with one hand hoping it helped.

"Too bad they probably don't have ginger ale here, would help ease your stomach." God knows he used the trick enough times stationed on a boat before he was discharged from the air force. He didn't mind her holding his arm though. His mind was reeling on how to distract her.

The witch had gone extremely pale in the face and dizzy. "I do not think I care for boats." She announced in a small voice. Oz was a landlocked nation and Glinda had never experiences travel beyond trains. "They're even worser than trains."

He shook his head and crouched before her. "Hey, it's okay, not everyone can handle it, just focus on something else okay? Like, the firm ground, a street under your feet."

Glinda closed her eyes and nodded. That sounded like what she used to do with Elphaba. But it was far more difficult to do without her there to help. At least when Elphie had been there she would stroke her hair and rub her back until she felt better.

"I do not think it's working." She told him in a delicate voice.

Chris after a moment of hesitation reaches up, brushing the hair from her face. "It'll be okay, just try to relax." He would move up beside her, but she was a lady and he wasn't sure if she'd be okay with it. Hey his mama taught him right about that at least. Though he made it clear he wasn't going to leave her alone unless she ordered him to.

She gave a small nod, opening her eyes for a second before closing them tightly once more as she stomach turned. Glinda gave in the fight and put her forehead against her knees and struggled in a deep breath. "I really rather dislike boats, I have found." She weakly announced.

He kneels so that he's next to her gently rubbing her back.

"They're not for everyone. If I ever get a chance here, I'll see about taking you flying."

Glinda looked up, risking opening a single eye to look at him.

"With all duetiful respects, Mister Redfield, unless it is in my bubble I do not think I should care much more for flying either."

He crouched down so she wasn't looking up too far. "See. I've never flown that way, but I can't see it as safe. too out in the open." He's thinking protection wise. "What if you're going fast and a bird flies in front of you?" He's genuinely curious.

"I would stop or make it drop down so as not to harm the bird." Glinda answered. "My bubble is under my control. I could definitely stop it in time."

"Okay that sounds better than a plane. Because we can't stop in midair on a dime." And the fact that the reference may have been wasted on her doesn't even phase Chris.

Glinda cocked her head at him, curious now. "Then how does one stop a plane?" She asked.

"Land it safely, or... land it not so safely. Flying objects tend to get hurt if it's a larger plane, but I like smaller ones which are a little slower and you get time to move around them or they move out of your way."

Glinda pursed her lips. "Forgive my saying so, but that does not sound exceptioncationatedly a good way to travel."

he chuckled a little. "It's safer than driving in a car, but... I guess when compared to your mode of travel, I'd guess it's barbaric sorry."

"Most things are." She patted his arm. Things were simply more elegant in the Emerald City. "It doesn't mean they are wrong though."

"Well it's what I'm good at if you believe my sister. Apparently I'm a horrible ogre when it comes down to it, so guess barbaric transportation just has to go along with it to keep up the appearance."

"Oh no, Mister Redfield." Glinda shook her head, blonde curls bouncing vociferously. "You aren't an Ogre. I have met Ogres. They can be most unpleasant and you have been nothing less than a gentleman."

"You've yet to see me in the morning before coffee." He did smile though, wasn't often women complimented him like that.

Glinda smiled back him, finding herself feeling somewhat better when she talked. "I have no doubt that you are a gentleman, even before coffee, Mister Redfield." She replied softly.

He chuckled again. "Chris, really, just call me Chris. Mister Redfield was my dad." And he felt they were friends enough for her to call him by his name. "Titles aren't really my thing."

"That must be nice." She said, without thinking. "Not having to worry about what is expected of you all of the time."

"Never really thought about it really. I mean other than bein' big brother to Claire and making sure my team makes it back from a mission in one piece I just focus on stayin' alive it's all I've ever done.
