Welcome to the Victoria Ascendant, latest in the Ascendant line of luxury yachts as built by the Nadir company. Tonight, the Victoria Ascendant is the stage set for a spectacular party, also paid for by the company and specifically designed and organised by a team of event specialists overseen by your host for this evening, Timaeus Nadir- wealthy eligible bachelor, melodramatic heir apparent to the company chair, frequent sponsor of the Games. The Victoria Ascendant is fully equipped with every obscenely luxurious item imaginable, and practically drips opulence.

When first welcomed aboard you will be assured that your every need will be seen to, your every desire catered for. Staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have or guide you to various areas of the ship, provide you with food, drink, or suggestions of how best to take advantage of the Victoria Ascendant's many amenities- they are here as hosts, but also as salespeople for those of the guests with money to burn- this party is serving more than one purpose. Tributes who responded to their invite will also receive a delicate, hand-written note in a golden envelope as they board- the content of which will be posted as a reply to their response to this post.(I'll do this once your character turns up.)

Although the Victoria Ascendant has a magnificent dining room for formal, sit-down occasions, the food for the party will be circulating the various lounge areas and decks. There is also a buffet table, for those of you who prefer to help yourselves, and a fully stocked bar. Provided are a baffling variety of foods and beverages, seemingly unconnected- but each tribute will find that if at any point during their stay in the Capitol they have requested a particular food or drink item, it is available here. Or, at least, the closest approximation the catering staff could conjure up. Seating is provided in intimate groupings around tables for the most part, though there are large, sprawling couches against the walls. Central to the dining area is a magnificent aquarium filled with brightly coloured fish. Anyone looking closely enough will recognise them- varieties of piranha- but don't worry, they've been more than adequately fed and the glass is thick.

While there are various screens displaying the Games throughout the ship, Viewing is also taking place on an enormous screen, set up in a seperate lounge area with full floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side. Here, staff wait to take bets or help organise the giving of sponsor gifts. Large, comfortable couches line the room, and the central table overflows with a spectacular arrangement of edible flowers and fruit.

Later in the evening, you will be told that the firework display is about to begin, and invited to go up onto the main deck to watch. The fireworks themselves will be launched from smaller boats across the lake, and the display is set to be truly spectacular. It will be set to some music that Tributes may find familiar- various melodies pulled from the most recent Arena. The large swimming pool on the deck is open, but it is too early in the year to be comfortable to use. Instead, it is being used as an unusual centrepiece for the evening. Floating in the illuminated water is a gigantic iceberg, sculpted into a stylised model of the current arena and populated with frozen figures. Eagle-eyed Tributes may be able to spot themselves depicted in ice- more often than not, the moment of their deaths are the pose of choice, if a little tweaked for the sake of a more dramatic scene.

"Well, you are of course very welcome to leave," he replied a little stiffly. “I wouldn't want anyone to have an unpleasant experience."

"Wouldn't want anyone to have an unpleasant experience." Parker mimics the statement with all due lack of respect.

"What'd you think I'd like?"

Other than the stuff to steal, so much stuff to steal, but she can't steal it. This just makes her hate it more.

"Or you just get off on death?"

"I don't believe anyone here is planning on killing anyone else tonight, my dear," he reminded her coolly. “We're here to celebrate the brave tributes of the Games in good company with good food, drink and entertainment. If you find that kind of treatment too distasteful, then as I said, you are more than welcome to leave. Where is your escort? I'd be happy to discuss the appropriate arrangements with them."

"Mean the statues." Hello, even by Parker standards, she was pretty clear, she thinks.

"Wow," there's a moment of realization. Others would likely mean what she says next as a dig, but she just thinks she's stating facts.

"You're stupid too. Don't think they make drugs to cure that." Maybe that's the issue. Everyone here has too much money and not enough brains. Nate would run circles around them.

That idea makes her smile. "Gotta go meet someone in the bathroom."

She has a dress to exchange with Eponine, after all. The girl reminds her a little of Peggy, but except with skills that are useful.

More importantly, "Don't think I have an escort." Then again, it's likely she does but has blown them off so quickly, she hasn't even bothered to remember they exist.

"You're sort of useless anyway."

To think, she'd thought the rich dude might help her get Lindsey dead. She should know better. Nate would be ashamed. Archie would be ashamed.

"Parker, there you are." Chris had noted the conversation and casually walked over. "I was hoping to find you here."

He addressed Timaeus politely enough. "Mind if I take over being her escort, I don't think she'd take kindly to most citizens of Panem, no offense." He placed his hand on the blond's arm hoping to signal to her to cool it for now. See! Chris can play the white knight if he has to. He's just really bad at it.

Timaeus turned a slightly icy smile on the new arrival, though he was pleased to see him join them- he wasn't sure how much longer he could keep up the diplomacy.
"I think it might be wise if you did. Perhaps if she has such issues with Panem citizens, she might think twice before seeking them out purposefully to insult them, particularly when she's dining at their expense. Do, please, enjoy the rest of the evening."

"Hey!" Chris will actually get a smile. "Sandwich guy!"

"Wasn't here to insult you." Parker's back to looking at Timaeus like he's the crazy one of the trio.

"Didn't choose to come, got given this dress, told to be here. You're the one who's not saying what you want."

Chris, remove her, remove her now.

"She's just not good with new people that's all. I'm sure she'll warm up to you." He apologized wondering briefly if this was how Jill felt when he got pig headed.

"Come on Parker, let's go get some air alright." He kept his hand on her arm.

"Don't worry She'll behave." Or Chris'll have a fit, but hey keeping an eye on her would prevent him from doing something rash at least. "Again sorry if you felt insulted, she can be a bit blunt, it's part of her charm."

Yeah, he's already working on it.

Timaeus frowned, slightly. He hadn't been aware anyone had been forced to come. He'd have to have words with Parker's sponsor, quite obviously.

"Just see that she keeps her charm to herself," he advised with a carefully maintained civility. "There are some very influential people here, and not all of them are as amicable as I am."

If only Parker knew he thought that. It would only confirm her opinion about his lack of intelligence. Why else would people be here, unless someone made them?

But she'd be happy to send him to find her sponsor, as she doesn't have a single one.

She leans over and whispers to Chris, "He means there are other people here who are smarter than him." Who mistakes being amicable for being completely obtuse?

"So you don't want anything from us." She shrugs her shoulders, hardly an elegant move, or an appropriate one in the pink dress.

"I don't have any charm." Chris should know this.

Chris nodded with a chuckle. "Don't worry I know most the people to steer her clear of." He was fighting hard not to out right laugh at Parker's comment though. Oh tonight was going to be one of those nights he just knew it.

"Not everyone wants things Parker." As he escorted her away he did laugh. "You have a lot of charm, it's just not everyone's taste. I find you entertaining in a good way."

Timaeus was more than content to let them go, calling aside a member of his staff and murmuring instructions to keep an eye on the graceless Tribute once they had moved far enough away.
Stupid, was he? In his mind, the word was slightly more fitting when applied to an ill-mannered tribute insulting one of the few people who might have tried to help keep her alive.

He would certainly have words for her escort later- but for now, he had a party to oversee.
