Who| Timaeus Nadir and all his guests. If you are in the Capitol, you've been invited!
What| A spectacular Viewing Party and opportunity for tributes to get sponsorship
Where| The Victoria Ascendant, on the lake
When| After the most recent death roll!
Warnings/Notes| Probable skeeviness of the Nice Guy variety.

Welcome to the Victoria Ascendant, latest in the Ascendant line of luxury yachts as built by the Nadir company. Tonight, the Victoria Ascendant is the stage set for a spectacular party, also paid for by the company and specifically designed and organised by a team of event specialists overseen by your host for this evening, Timaeus Nadir- wealthy eligible bachelor, melodramatic heir apparent to the company chair, frequent sponsor of the Games. The Victoria Ascendant is fully equipped with every obscenely luxurious item imaginable, and practically drips opulence.

When first welcomed aboard you will be assured that your every need will be seen to, your every desire catered for. Staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have or guide you to various areas of the ship, provide you with food, drink, or suggestions of how best to take advantage of the Victoria Ascendant's many amenities- they are here as hosts, but also as salespeople for those of the guests with money to burn- this party is serving more than one purpose. Tributes who responded to their invite will also receive a delicate, hand-written note in a golden envelope as they board- the content of which will be posted as a reply to their response to this post.(I'll do this once your character turns up.)

Although the Victoria Ascendant has a magnificent dining room for formal, sit-down occasions, the food for the party will be circulating the various lounge areas and decks. There is also a buffet table, for those of you who prefer to help yourselves, and a fully stocked bar. Provided are a baffling variety of foods and beverages, seemingly unconnected- but each tribute will find that if at any point during their stay in the Capitol they have requested a particular food or drink item, it is available here. Or, at least, the closest approximation the catering staff could conjure up. Seating is provided in intimate groupings around tables for the most part, though there are large, sprawling couches against the walls. Central to the dining area is a magnificent aquarium filled with brightly coloured fish. Anyone looking closely enough will recognise them- varieties of piranha- but don't worry, they've been more than adequately fed and the glass is thick.

While there are various screens displaying the Games throughout the ship, Viewing is also taking place on an enormous screen, set up in a seperate lounge area with full floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side. Here, staff wait to take bets or help organise the giving of sponsor gifts. Large, comfortable couches line the room, and the central table overflows with a spectacular arrangement of edible flowers and fruit.

Later in the evening, you will be told that the firework display is about to begin, and invited to go up onto the main deck to watch. The fireworks themselves will be launched from smaller boats across the lake, and the display is set to be truly spectacular. It will be set to some music that Tributes may find familiar- various melodies pulled from the most recent Arena. The large swimming pool on the deck is open, but it is too early in the year to be comfortable to use. Instead, it is being used as an unusual centrepiece for the evening. Floating in the illuminated water is a gigantic iceberg, sculpted into a stylised model of the current arena and populated with frozen figures. Eagle-eyed Tributes may be able to spot themselves depicted in ice- more often than not, the moment of their deaths are the pose of choice, if a little tweaked for the sake of a more dramatic scene.

Enjoy!

She snorted, more a noise of agreement than anything else, and took a long drink of her ale before looking down into the dark waters herself. "My uncle is a prophet," she said casually. "A more enlightened man, they say, though he's likely had more seawater than the Drowned God himself. 'What is dead may never die,' he says; we rise again to be feasted in the water, all the dead drinking together around us."

She took one more swig, then emptied the dregs of her cup into the ocean with a laugh. "I'd love for him to see how right he was. He might die of happiness himself, if he didn't choke on the rage that nonbelievers came back as well."
knifewithnoname: (sadness)

Pruna had no idea what a prophet was, or why a god had drowned. But she listened anyways. "What is dead may never die." She said slowly getting her tongue round the weird grammar.

She looked around, the dead drinking around them seemed right and they had food on the water. "He did be being right then... but everyone do be saying we do no actually be dead."
doesnotsew: (now you gotta kick the guy)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-04-28 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
"That's the idea," she said with a smile, the familiar words sounding surprising from an outsider. "'But rises again, harder and stronger.'"

"Don't say that too loudly, or he might appear," she said with a roll of her eyes. "They may say that, but when I kill someone, I generally don't stop until they're dead."
knifewithnoname: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-04-28 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Who might be appearing?" She looked around warily. And then shrugged, "Well I do always be finishing a job and I did be seeing someone who I definitely did be killing, and they did be there talking to me. And apparently it do be because they do be having technology that can be bringing us back."
doesnotsew: (the sky and I we've had our fights)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-04-28 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
"My nuncle. He's not very pleasant to be around." Though having another Ironborn around might be more comforting, at least so she wasn't the only one who didn't understand any of this.

"And who did you be killing?" she asked with amusement-- she should have know the girl would be capable of it. "I only know of bringing men back from drowning, not pickaxes to the stomach."
knifewithnoname: (oh really?)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-04-28 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Pruna didn't actually know what an uncle was either, her concept of family came from what she had observed outside of the inn she had grown up in. And though she understood concepts like father and mother, uncle was something she didn't know. "Well I will be avoiding uncles then."

She smirked, "Two stupid people. Though I should have been killing more." She was quite disappointed really, but she had had to pick her battles carefully, to try and avoid injury."
doesnotsew: (now you gotta kick the guy)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-04-28 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
"A good policy in general. I've four, and it's trouble enough." She said it cheerfully, but it was deadly serious-- though the Reader was good, and Victarion tolerable....

She made a face of mock concentration, ticking off her fingers. "And my count's four again. Though, of course, I should have been killing more."
knifewithnoname: (silence)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-04-28 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Well Sandy do be saying they will be making us go in again, so we can be doing better next time." She stared at the ocean again.
doesnotsew: (and he's heading out the door)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-04-28 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
"We fight again?" That was good news, she thought; she'd get another chance-- and maybe this time get some weapons of her own from the start. Of course, there was an easier possibility... "And what if I leave? I've more important things to do than fight strangers-- like fighting people I know."
knifewithnoname: (oh really?)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-04-28 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
"You can no be leaving." She scowled at the people around her, not really lowering her voice at all. "There do be being no way back." Except she was hoping if they won, then they might have enough power to demand to be sent back.
doesnotsew: (rain come round and it don't come out)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-04-28 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
"So they say." She couldn't tell what was stopping her, really; all she had to do was find a port with a boat, and find herself a shore she recognizes, somewhere in Essos, even Westeros if she kept her banners down... though it would help to know where she was now. "We're already on the water."
knifewithnoname: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-04-28 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
She shook her head, "We do be in a different world, we can no just be sailing home. They did be bringing us here with technology."
doesnotsew: (I'll never have to speak again)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-04-28 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know of much technology that would do that." Magic, however... The idea that this was something of her uncle's doing came up again; that could explain it, maybe. "Then again, I don't know of much of any of this."
knifewithnoname: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-04-28 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well I do no be knowing nothing about technology but it do be being everywhere here." Honestly she would rather it be magic too, she understood magic, a little bit at least.
doesnotsew: (I fell into the water now I'm free)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-04-28 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've noticed." She could see the flickering lights from whatever was showing the rest of the arena; whether this was technology or magic or both was beyond her, and after a point it didn't seem important which was which. "But the ale is the same and there's more than frozen horsemeat, and that's enough."
knifewithnoname: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-04-28 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well that do be being good, the food do be being tasty even if it do be being strange." And for the most part not sweet enough, but even if she didn't feel as hungry as she should have after the arena she still remembered the weeks with barely enough food and so she was determined to try it all, even the weird stuff.
doesnotsew: (now you gotta kick the guy)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-05-01 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's certainly enough of it." It had been far too long since she had anything near this sort of variety, and she wasn't going to complain about that. "Though they might've given us more during the fight, if they were waiting with all of this."
knifewithnoname: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-05-01 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
She wrinkled her nose again. "I do no be knowing why. They do be being stupid."
doesnotsew: (Default)

so sorry about being late!

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-05-19 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's one thing that's true," she mumbled agreeably into her drink. The girl was smart and funny, though the latter didn't seem to be on purpose; it was a shame she had to be stuck here. Perhaps with enough practice, she could get out.

She scowled at the thought of being here long enough to practice, and decided to move past it. "I am Asha, of House Greyjoy. Of the Iron Islands in Westeros, as we don't seem to be there any longer."
knifewithnoname: (oh really?)

No worries <3

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-05-20 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
"It do be nice to be meeting you." She smiled, though she had no idea where the Iron Islands were, but if she were of a house that meant she was a noble.

And she had heard of no House Greyjoy, so she wasn't from her world.

"I do no be having a name," She told her, "But I do be from Gauig, I think that do be in a different world than you do be coming from."
doesnotsew: (now you gotta kick the guy)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-05-20 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd say you're right, as I've heard of no Gauig." There was also a matter of how the girl spoke, but she wasn't going to point that out; she had assumed she spoke something other than the common tongue, but she had already mocked her once for it, and once was enough. Either way, if she was going to end up in a strange world, there was no reason to presume they could only take people from Westeros.

She was vaguely amused by the namelessness, though it wasn't unheard of; she'd assume religiousness, but the girl didn't seem the type. If it was for religion, I'd've heard of it by now. "Do they call you anything, or shall I bother to make something up?"
knifewithnoname: (oh really?)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-05-20 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
She shrugged, "You can be calling me what you do be wanting. Sandy do be calling me Ash but that do be being close to your name." And could get confusing fast.

"Just do no be calling me brat. I do no be liking that."

And it was only here, where people seemed to worry about what to call her that she felt like she could ask that, but Peeta had said he wouldn't and she would see, he might forget if he got mad at her.
doesnotsew: (the sky and I we've had our fights)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-05-22 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ash and Asha? I'd think not. You could borrow Esgred if you'd like, though brat is shorter..."

She smiled teasingly, though she had to wonder how one had no names or titles, or at least preferences.
knifewithnoname: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-05-22 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Pruna just shrugged, she didn't want to borrow anyone's name, she didn't need one and if Asha wanted to call her brat she didn't think she could really stop her.

"It do no even be mattering, you can be calling me what you do be wanting."
doesnotsew: (you sat alone under billowing sky)

[personal profile] doesnotsew 2013-05-25 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Did those you lived with before not have a name to call you, or was that just 'brat' as well?"

It's not said incredulously, as if this could never happen; more with a mild interest.
