OPEN Valentine's Day Plot

WHO | Everyone
WHAT | Baron sends Valentine's Day gifts to Tribute Tower.
WHEN | Valentine's Day!
WHERE | Tribute Tower
WARNINGS / NOTES | Warnings for drug use and all of the things that go with that. Possibly also sexual themes. The OOC post for this is here.

On the morning of February 14th when the Tributes come down for breakfast they're greeted by an impressive holiday themed spread. Pink and red baked goods, chocolates shaped like hearts, beautiful red and pink flowers, adorable stuffed animals all line the table.

On the table is also a sign in cursive that reads:

To our beloved Tributes, Victors, Mentors, Escorts and Stylists. Enjoy your holiday. -- Bartlett Industries

Most of the sweets are completely harmless, but if the Tributes taste the chocolate covered cherries or caramels they find themselves suddenly acting very strangely...

Sherlock gave him the flattest look possible, though his eyes were not quite capable of fully articulating the depths at which Sherlock was unimpressed by Blaine's lack of understanding sarcasm.

"Quite." He said, the word as flat as his expression. He took another chocolate. "Where has my mind gone? Mixing up my barbaric atrocities..."

Blaine managed to look a little embarrassed over Sherlock's expression, but he was determined not to let things get him too far down. It was hard enough coping with what had happened to him.

"I'm a little surprised they still celebrate Valentine's Day here," he said. "It's supposed to be so far in the future. Traditions have a way of sticking around but I thought they'd at least have changed some of the ways they celebrated."

Having rendered embarrassment as far as (he believed) it was due, Sherlock didn't bother to extend the torment. Instead he frowned slightly at the comment, rolling the chocolate between his fingers.

"I suppose it fits. A culture entirely devoted to distraction, consumerism and hedonism? Can you think of a more appropriate holiday for them?"

Blaine smiled a bit at that, because it's true. He liked the thought behind Valentine's Day still, the fact that it was a day to risk everything to tell someone how you felt about them, but being single and realities away from the man he loved didn't make it easy for Blaine to feel sappy.

"Not to mention the fact that they seem to like tacky colors," Blaine mentioned, thinking of some of the clothing styles he had seen out there. Though he had been known for putting together weird pattern choices in his clothes, there was something to be said about a woman who would dye her skin bright pink. He picked up a cookie that was frosted with the very same color.

"God, don't remind me," Sherlock said with a groan, eating the other cherry and then throwing himself down melodramatically on the couch. Odd. He almost felt as if he had partaken of some sort of alcohol...

"It's enough to make my eyes feel like they're bleeding," He complained lowly as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

He paused for a second. "Where did you get the chocolates?"

"Downstairs," Blaine supplied easily as he took up another chocolate covered cherry and bit into it, moving his hand a bit to catch the sugar that spilled out. "From the cafeteria?" he adds once his mouth is clear.

Sherlock narrowed his eyes at them, watching Blaine until he was fully finished eating his chocolate before saying: "I believe they've been laced with something. I would say alcohol but it seems to be tasteless so I'm leaning towards an engineered drug..."

Blaine's eyes narrowed a bit. He pushed the candy far away from him.

"A drug? Do you know what kind?" Now that the idea had been put into his head he thought that it explained why he was so warm and why the urge to be friendly with everyone had come over him. He even wanted to touch Sherlock, when he was sure that Sherlock wouldn't appreciate that kind of affection.

"Absolutely no idea." Sherlock said, launching himself from the couch and striding back to the chocolates to grab one. He didn't have any equipment, but...

Chocolate in hand, he strode back towards the kitchen to see if he could build himself a make-shift chemistry set.

Blaine frowned at the food he had brought up and then moved to the kitchen after Sherlock to throw it all away. He wasn't about to give the other Tributes something that was laced.

"STOP!" Sherlock nearly launched himself across the room before Blaine had a chance to toss the chocolates out. "Do you know how long I've gone without nicotine in this god forsaken place? Put that down!"
mediumdrip: (wibbly)

Blaine was surprised by that and paused. "Oh, sorry," he said. He handed the chocolates over to Sherlock. He didn't approve of drug abuse but he wasn't about to tell Sherlock how to live his life. "Here."

There was a moment where he thought he would get away without trying to nose in but the worry had to override the part of him that said he should leave Sherlock to do things on his own. "Are you sure that's wise though? You don't even know what's in them."
alldeduction: (oh that was kind of tasty actually)

"I'm not about to swallow them all. Of course I want to know what's in them. But there's no point sacrificing them before we've collected the data, is there?"

He took the chocolates and carefully put them in the fridge before he started to pull out a wealth of pots and pans and cooking supplies.

"Though it is likely impossible to determine anything of use, from here. -don't even have a microscope- But at the least we may be able to separate it from the chocolate and get a closer look. Maybe."

"Do you think it's possible to get you a microscope? I mean, they have to have those here, right? We're in the future after all." Blaine moved a little closer to Sherlock, almost bordering on invading his personal space. In the times they been around each other Blaine had always given Sherlock more than enough space but the drugs in his system were leading him to think it was a good idea to break that a bit.
