The band drew Some right away, luring him out of his intentions to just lurk against a wall and be as unnoticed as a seven-foot-tall quadruped can be at a party full of humans. Instead, he found a space beside a pillar where he could see the players and their fascinating instruments. A head above everyone else nearby, he had an unobstructed view, and when people cleared space to dance, he was out of their way.

It didn't take him long to notice, though, that he was being avoided. People, the locals anyway, went out of their way to steer clear around him, despite the crowd near the band.
