District Tours: Train Ride

Prior to their departure, the Tributes have to suffer a photoshoot, a few interviewers asking them a thousand questions about how excited they are, and more than a few members of their style teams asking the Tributes to bring back mementos. "Don't worry about quality, dears, we can get that all here - we want you to bring us souvenirs for the novelty of it!"

The day of the trip, Tributes are roused bright and early, well before sunrise, and driven in Peacekeeper vans to the train station. It's all rather dour, and not like the start of a vacation at all; if one didn't know what was going on, and if the Escorts and head Stylists weren't chattering excitedly, they might think they were being hauled off to a war zone.

The trains, on the other hand, are plush, fancy things, and there is one per District. There's a single blockaded car for cargo, another for maintenance, driving and Peacekeeping staff, and then several others which are open to the Tributes. A dinner car serves three meals and has small snacks available throughout the day. Another car is an entertainment center with a selection of Capitol-approved films, and a the last one is the Tributes' temporary room. It has a bunk bed for each with sheets that was a truly intense threadcount, and a single massage chair in the back. The Stylists, Mentors and Escorts sleep in the same car, although separated by a partition.

Unfortunately, all the Tributes have to share the sleeping quarters, and it's first-come, first-served.

For the most part, the trip is so smooth that the surface of a glass full of water would not be disturbed. The trips to the closer Districts are a little under a day, but the furthest Districts - 3, 4, 7, 8, 11 and 12 - take nearly 48 hours.

[OOC: For Tributes accepted during the District tours, you can assume they arrived before the departure so they can participate in the District festivities. During the train ride there is still network access. There will only be this post and the party post from the mods for this event, so players are encouraged to make their own of their characters exploring their surroundings and enjoying the Districts.]

The first and only dragon. She hasn't so much as seen hide nor tail of any other dragon, even ones she only knows by reputation. Not that she entirely minds, but it's a little strange. She would have thought that it would have been more common, if only to make things more interesting for whoever was in charge of the strange series of fights they were meant to be engaging in.

"I am hardly going to kill you."

"Good to know."

And it was, legitimate. Because she was pretty sure eating damsels was a dragon's mo.

Though she was far from a virgin, so at least that was out of the way.

"You're a talking dragon, then."

Brilliant, De. Dazzle it with your wits.

Traditionally, yes. But Iskierka personally prefers other things, what with having spent so much time around humans and all. Which is perhaps not to say that she wouldn't try in a moment of desperation or need, but mostly she doesn't think to consider people a valid option insofar as food is concerned.

"Oh, of course. Whyever should I not be?"

"Well, this is my first dragon encounter so I'm sorta still feeling things out here." She said with a nervous laugh, knowing that whatever joke was suppose to be in that statement had fizzled out before it was even conceived.

Carefully, slowly, she inched in, wanting to see Iskierka closer. She was a beautiful thing, and even with her danger alarms going off, something drew De closer to check it out.

"Do they not have them where you are from?" Iskierka asked. Over the course of her stay, she's been slowly learning that there are lot more worlds that don't have them than ones that do, but she supposes it can't hurt to ask. And anyway, De had been the one to mention it first so she figures she may as well ask, if nothing else.

Aside from that, however, she moves not an inch. She is willing to be observed, if that's De's intention.

"Well, not that I've seen. Which doesn't necessarily rule it out, but I have seen some shit..."

God, she was a gorgeous thing, and it was sitrring up some kind of nostalgia trimmed awe in De, thinking of dragons and knight and princesses.

"Are you like...like. Shit. Like with knights? Do you fight them?"+

Given that De's answer isn'tterribly definitive one way or the other, Iskierka decides that it means that there probably aren't dragons, if only because she has yet to learn of any place that doesn't know about dragons, back where she's from and the idea that dragons might be rarer somewhere else doesn't much occur to her.

"I have not heard of any knights. Mostly we fight other dragons, although I suppose perhaps if their captains were?"

"Is this some Pokemon type shit?"

De realized as soon as it was out of her mouth that that would probably make no sense to the dragon, and that if it did, it probably wasn't something she would enjoy being compared to.

Oh well.

"Don't worry about Pokemon. What do you mean Captains?"

It doesn't make any sense. She's from a time centuries before Pokemon at the very least, but she's more than willing to put it out of her mind. There's too much else that will need to be considered, between now and the very unlikely occasion that she'll need to remember the reference. Besides, she has a chance to talk about about the Aerial Corps and that is something that isn't to be passed up.

"Oh yes. We must all have captains, you see. It is part of the Corps, and I am ever so much bigger back home. Enough to have a whole crew of my own."
