District Tours: Train Ride
Prior to their departure, the Tributes have to suffer a photoshoot, a few interviewers asking them a thousand questions about how excited they are, and more than a few members of their style teams asking the Tributes to bring back mementos. "Don't worry about quality, dears, we can get that all here - we want you to bring us souvenirs for the novelty of it!"
The day of the trip, Tributes are roused bright and early, well before sunrise, and driven in Peacekeeper vans to the train station. It's all rather dour, and not like the start of a vacation at all; if one didn't know what was going on, and if the Escorts and head Stylists weren't chattering excitedly, they might think they were being hauled off to a war zone.
The trains, on the other hand, are plush, fancy things, and there is one per District. There's a single blockaded car for cargo, another for maintenance, driving and Peacekeeping staff, and then several others which are open to the Tributes. A dinner car serves three meals and has small snacks available throughout the day. Another car is an entertainment center with a selection of Capitol-approved films, and a the last one is the Tributes' temporary room. It has a bunk bed for each with sheets that was a truly intense threadcount, and a single massage chair in the back. The Stylists, Mentors and Escorts sleep in the same car, although separated by a partition.
Unfortunately, all the Tributes have to share the sleeping quarters, and it's first-come, first-served.
For the most part, the trip is so smooth that the surface of a glass full of water would not be disturbed. The trips to the closer Districts are a little under a day, but the furthest Districts - 3, 4, 7, 8, 11 and 12 - take nearly 48 hours.
[OOC: For Tributes accepted during the District tours, you can assume they arrived before the departure so they can participate in the District festivities. During the train ride there is still network access. There will only be this post and the party post from the mods for this event, so players are encouraged to make their own of their characters exploring their surroundings and enjoying the Districts.]

"A word of advice, if I may," he drawled coolly. "Do give it a moment if you can spare the time. A plan, however simplistic, will help stave off boredom."
He looked over again, head dipping to look at Gabriel over the rim of his glasses - red and gold serpent's eyes narrowing on him against the light. "Theirs, not yours."
Whatever Gabriel felt in the arena meant little, so long as the audience was entertained.

Gabriel munched on another grape as he thought that one over. "That's gonna be hard to do for someone with such a big ego and a super low level of caring of 'em." Besides, he was always oh so very busy, what with drinking and sleeping and all.
He enjoyed entertaining people - he really honestly did - but he wasn't going to do it in chains. At least, not on purpose. The less Wesker expected of him, the better.
no subject
In limbo for however long or short they chose.
He turned away again, making a note on Gabriel's page.
"But the choice is yours, of course."
no subject
Assuming he was dead in that world, of course... That brought about even more questions, though, and he really really really hated not knowing.
At least he was able to show that he knew Wesker wasn't really in all that better of a position than he was. "We all have roles to play," he said again, "but that's more for people who don't have a brain to think for themselves. To the rest of us, it's a lot like your helpful suggestions."
no subject
If Gabriel wished to believe Wesker was taking the easy way out, had simply taken his chains without fuss, he was more than free to do so.
Wesker had bigger fish to fry, and had never been one to stop to nurse hurt feelings.
no subject
It wasn't like Gabriel was completely ignorant, though he was a lot more out of place than he was comfortable with... as usual, in a lot of his cases. He just never really did give two shits about the powers that be. At least, those who thought they were above his Father.

But still, it was the way he said it. Gabriel didn't like making deals or having people like that on his side, but that was when he had all - if not most - of the cards in his hand. "Has anyone ever told you that you don't have a very warm personality?"
no subject
He finally looked up again, pen tucking once more into the crook of his thumb.
"I'm here to do a job, and I do intend to do it to best of my considerable ability. ...But I cannot help those who refuse it. Nor will I waste limited resources when they could be better spent on one who gives a damn."
He was a business man, first and foremost. He wasn't going to waste his time and energy playing nice with a man who - while talented - couldn't see beyond his own feelings.
Let Gabriel play the poor, puffed-up popinjay, bemoaning the terribleness of it all. Wesker had a government to overthrow.
no subject
"You think I could win," he said, wondering what this guy might be on. Yes, Gabriel was a very powerful angel... when he was an angel.

Gabriel was very very selfish back home... or that's what he would like a lot of people, including himself, to believe. He didn't leave Heaven because he didn't want to fight. He didn't want to see his brothers slaughter each other. He also didn't stand up to Lucifer out of pride or territory. He cared for Kali and humanity. Despite his love for his brothers, he wasn't going to watch everything burn.
"Just not enough of that for me here," he said, eating some other piece of candy. If he felt like he could actually make a difference, maybe, but he wasn't even sure if his own home had been saved. There wasn't a whole hell of a lot of point to it.

Wesker has hardly a good man, as Eva had so eloquently put it, but it still hadn't been terribly hard for him to find a reason to work against the Capitol.
They were going to pay, quite simply, for meddling in things they'd no business with.
They would regret not leaving him be.
"It hardly matters to me. There are plenty of others with both to offer."
no subject
He'll be cursing about it during the arena and he knew it, but it was more of Wesker's attitude than his own that he'll be annoyed over.
