Who| Eddie and Open
What| Recuperating after a hard night.
Where| The Cave at night, district 3's floor and the common area the next day.
When| Spread from one night to the next morning/afternoon
Warnings/Notes| Feel free to jump in anywhere in the post, from the club to the training. Some non-explicit references to being bid on.
It had been a long night of being arm candy, and he needed a drink.
Luckily, it had just been arm candy duty. He knew it could have been far worse, but after the attack, and everything else going on...yeah, he needed a break. A loud, noise, mind numbing break. As soon as the overly dressed and very overly scented Capitol woman had been escorted home, he sought out the dig closest to her home, ending up at The Cave. It was a little too full of try hard Capitol kids, but it was loud, and after a few drinks, Eddie was busy being mindlessly social, bouncing into people, grabbing any cute girls (or boy) for a quick dance, and generally ignoring everything clinging onto the back of his mind.
As the night wore on, he found his way "home", and into his own stash of morphling. Which made his 10 am wake up call just beautiful. He spent most of what was left at the morning varying between hating the avox who woke him up, and feeling guilty he was being such an ass to some poor avox that had just done exactly what he has asked of them.
But the arena was soon, ans he should really at least pretend he was being a mentor. After grumping around the district 3 suites for whoever he could find there, he set out to find his herd in the rest of the building.

"Long night, sugar?"

And whatever discomfort the thought left running through him, he still couldn't keep a grin off his tired face as he saw her.
"You know, party all night, work all day."
no subject
She smiles up at him, although the smile can't quite hide the worry she feels for him. She hopes this Eddie isn't doing heroin, that that particular monkey hasn't found its way on his back, but he does look pretty strung out right now.
Eddie--like Cuthbert and Harley--is one of the few bright points of this whole sad and sordid experience.

Though he wished he could. Being in the Capitol was already wearing him down, and it didn't look like there was any end in sight. At least not any time soon.
"Is your mentor taking care of you?"
no subject
Of course, her district mates also included quite a few Oriental types and a gent made out of rocks, so it wasn't like she was drowning in a sea of whiteness either. She's not exactly the most 'out there' person on her floor.
no subject
Maybe a poor choice of words, but Eddie was hoping that wouldn't be called. He was really doing awful at this.
"I'm glad. There's good people in 10."

The Cave
He liked this place though, it was dark, it was loud and it was slightly less pretentious than the other places he ended up.
Alright so it was a different kind of pretentious, the music made up for it though. He was just past pleasantly drunk and was pretty happy to be dragged to the dance floor. This kind of dancing he could actually manage.

He was also pretty sure right now he didn't care too much. He loop his arm around the boy, nearly dragging him out to the dance floor.
"You look like you need a break, kiddo." He said, flashing a wide grin. He should probably get out of the habit of calling people around his age kiddo. But this one looked at least a bit younger.
no subject
It took him a few moments to get into the rhythmn of the dance with people jostling him from every side.
no subject
He had to talk loud, to be heard over the music, but that was part of the appeal, wasn't it.
"You're one of the Tributes, right?"
Because he's feel like an asshole if this was just some Capitol citizen. But he didn't seem like it.

When finally, he walks into district three for the third time to find this one instead of the one he was looking for, he gives up and makes his way up him.
"AY, YOU! You a motherfucking tribute up in three here, brother?"
no subject
"You mind taking it down a few octaves, buddy." He said, rubbing the bridge of is nose as he looked over at the other man.
It was too early for this shit. It was barely noon.
no subject
Unfortunate about and for that hangover, it is.
no subject
Whatever.
"I haven't been a tribute for awhile, but I'm district 3, yeah. What's up."
no subject
The initiate glances upward himself, but sees nothing of note. It was exasperation then. Well, the issue hadn't been pressed. He can't say he's not grateful for that. Messiahs bless.
"You're all like to be a victor, then? MENTORING MOTHERFUCKERS? He's looking at for another tribute. A GIRL WHAT ALL GETS ABOUT HERE. The smaller of two teals what all be having pointed horns. YOU GOT GANDER AT OF HER BEING AROUND?"

Finally, when he had a few sips down him, he sank down across from Ian, looking at least some what more alert.
"Morning." He squinted, forcing his protesting brain to filter through who should be hanging around in 3. "Ian, right?"
no subject
"How are things going?" he asked. "I imagine this is probably your busiest time."

If Eddie knew what this arena has in store for him, he sure as hell wouldn't be out partying late at night. But as he didn't, well, here he was. Spending his energy dutifully exploring the fine line between getting sponsors and escaping reality.
"How are you doing? Feelin' ready?"

"Had I not seen the cat already this morning I would have assumed she dragged thee in here just now. What were you getting up to and how can I join in?"
no subject
"Taking names." He looked over at Bert with a lop sided, tired little smirk. "I'm sure they wouldn't object to you tagging along next time."
He had a feeling Bert could play this game well. Walk the line well. He had since he meet him at the auction.

Cuthbert was getting better and better at reading social situations in the Capitol, and he was finally feeling like he could successfully be out in it without causing trouble. Well, without causing more trouble than he could handle.
In consideration of Eddie's apparent condition Cuthbert kept his voice quiet and didn't make any sudden gestures. There was little more he can do to help, though, so he would settle for staying out of his mentor's way.

He gave a strained sorta smile, the kind that said 'it is what it is.' Which pretty much summed up the Capitol. If you can't fight them, join them. At least take them for what they worth.
