The tunnel to District 2, main transport for Peacekeepers, is unexpectedly closed before dawn. In edition, a mandatory evacuation is declared for mile around the tunnel, clearing out a large section of the South East part of town.

The evacuation ends several blocks from the Tribute Training center, but they hear plenty about it. And can see the Capitol citizens unhappily trudging to friends, relative, and the shelter set up for those with none.

The recording that plays every few minutes on all the stations state that there is danger of a possible gas leak, and the evacuation is precautionary.

However, resident report seeing teams going into the tunnels and not seeing them come out.

Some report screams.

Luckily for the Capitol, most of the teams were made of avoxes, so that rumor is easy to silence.

"It would hardly matter to them what I enjoy." There was a bite to the remark, and it hung, not idly, but pungently over them. Enjolras' chin had lifted with an air of either insult or irony (potentially both at this point), a manner which contrasted sharply to his usual self-imposed neutrality. "Nevertheless, they have their duties, as our guardians. I merely meant that they will, of course, continue performing them with their typical self-import."

There was a loud crash and a few more suited figures ran into the tunnel. Scientific wonders of this type were well beyond Enjolras' understanding, he could freely admit that much, but all in all, their mission seemed to be going poorly. "I wonder what will become of the citizens they evacuated."

"I imagine they'll return home, once the trouble has cleared, eternally grateful for the protection of their keepers."

Enjolras might have been worried about something more sinister happening to them, but Wesker sincerely doubted it. There was making one or two, or perhaps even a small group if one was careful, disappear, and then there were hundreds, possibly of witnesses.

There would be no covering this up.

Unless the Capitol, like Umbrella, had developed a way to alter memory rather than just transferring it from body to body.

"And if it proves more than can be contained, well, I would expect they'll have more to worry about than what happened to their knick-knacks."

"As will we all." The idea of something the Capitol couldn't contain was terrifying in and of itself. Enjolras had a healthy regard for his own status as a relic here and the perception to which he clung regarding the Capitol and its scientific achievements, but even so. The seemed to have almost immeasurable strength. That something should be too much for them would certainly be more of an issue than a few lost trinkets or household items. "Though I meant more in terms of what kind of provisions shall be allotted for them. The people here are accustomed to a certain kind of life and I cannot expect they would be satisfied with much less."

His mouth twitched, corner ticking upward before settling again - the movement so quick it might have been a spasm, an itch, rather than the beginnings of a cold smile.

"Perhaps it will be a learning experience for them." His head tipped, morning sunlight flashing of the pale hair, turning it to gold as he peered down upon the exodus - rats, fleeing the sinking ship. "We can't always get what we want."
