The tunnel to District 2, main transport for Peacekeepers, is unexpectedly closed before dawn. In edition, a mandatory evacuation is declared for mile around the tunnel, clearing out a large section of the South East part of town.

The evacuation ends several blocks from the Tribute Training center, but they hear plenty about it. And can see the Capitol citizens unhappily trudging to friends, relative, and the shelter set up for those with none.

The recording that plays every few minutes on all the stations state that there is danger of a possible gas leak, and the evacuation is precautionary.

However, resident report seeing teams going into the tunnels and not seeing them come out.

Some report screams.

Luckily for the Capitol, most of the teams were made of avoxes, so that rumor is easy to silence.

Pruna looked up the wall, "There do be being plenty." At least to someone who had spent most of her life climbing onto roofs. "Be following me."

Sandy found that scaling the building came surprisingly naturally to her. Maybe it was living most of her life in New York, or maybe it was because Pruna went first and she could find the same hand holds and places to brace her feet. Her hands had been freshly manicured and she was sure her Stylist would weep over the damage being done.

Pruna grinned to see that Sandy could climb quite well but it was only a moment before she felt her ankle being grabbed and she fell.

"Be getting off me." She screamed, panic setting in as she began lashing out at whoever had grabbed her.

Sandy heard the shout and her heart froze.

"Ashley!" She whipped her head back them, just in time to feel the back of her shirt yanked hard, ripping her from the wall.

Busted.

"Be leaving her alone!" Pruna twisted to try and get to Sandy. She couldn't let her get hurt when it had been all Pruna's idea in the first place.

"We weren't doing anything you...fascists!" Sandy protested as she was dragged unceremoniously to the ground. The barrel of a gun found it's way jabbed into her side as the helmeted peacekeepers tried to usher them back past the barricade line.

Pruna fought harder, her teeth clamping down on the hand of the peacekeeper as she saw them bring the weapon into Sandy's side. She fought panicking trying to drag Sandy away from them, but once they got them over the barricade the peacekeepers just dropped them, with dire warnings of what would happen should they cross the line again.

Pruna however was not listening, she rushed to Sandy's side, turning her over to where the peacekeeper had stabbed the weapon, expecting a bloodstain and hoping she wasn't too late to save her friend.

"I'm OK, I'm OK." Sandy repeated as Pruna rolled her over before she could get her barrings. In fact her side had a small red spot that might bruise but other then that she was fine.

"He didn't shoot...but I think he might next time." She looked warily at the shapes of the peacekeepers backing away slowly and keeping their helmets turned towards the girls.

Pruna frowned, confused, "But I did be seeing him, he did be stabbing you with that..." She had no idea what it was called the weapon he had held. She hadn't got a good look at it either it had all happened so fast. She examined the small injury before deciding Sandy was fine.

"Shoot?" She had seen no archers. She looked around, on the top of buildings, expecting to see some hidden that Sandy had spotted.

Sandy blinked, realization dawning on her.

"You have no idea what a gun is...do you." She guessed feeling once again floored by the amount of things she knew that Pruna didn't. Having lived in a shitty city had it's advantages when compared to a mid evil fantasy sort of world.

Pruna pulled Sandy, deciding that if she was okay then they should get away from here, especially if they might get shot at. "No, I do never be hearing about one. Do it be being a weapon?" They'd held it like a weapon anyways.

Sandy nodded in confirmation letting Pruna lead her back through the crowd who was parting to get out of their way and avoid trouble.

"Imagine a tube alright? A metal tube. Now put a metal ball in there OK? Now imagine that ball can shoot out of the tube at such a high speed it can rip in one side of you and out the other. That's basically a gun."

Pruna nodded, imagining that. A metal tube. Metal was the shiny thing that so many things were made of here. A metal ball, she could imagine that too, her eyes went wide at the description.

"That do be being a really powerful weapon." She looked back at the peacekeepers, if her and Sandy could get their hands on such weapons... She guessed they would be kept away from tributes though, since they were so powerful.

As the crowds thinned out around them and they made their way back through the buildings Sandy nodded. "All it takes is one shot to kill someone. Sometimes you get lucky and it doesn't hit anything really important. And sometimes they make guns that can hit someone a long long ways away."

One shot. Like an arrow, but more powerful. Pruna liked the idea of that. "Do you be thinking we could be getting some?" She asked leading Sandy down an alley, a shortcut that would get them away from the crowds and the peacekeepers and near to the park near the tribute tower.

"If we did be having really powerful weapons no one could be stopping us."

Sandy shook her head.

"Not unless the Capitol gave them to us. I mean...we could try stealing one from the peacekeepers but that's one gun against like...hundreds. And they have armor. Armor can stop bullets sometimes."

She hated to dash Pruna's hopes like that, but better she keep the girl from getting herself killed then give her false hope.

Pruna frowned, "I will be thinking of a plan then." Now that she knew what kind of weapons they had here they could plan better.

"Maybe we do be needing some of their armour instead." After all if they couldn't get their hands on their weapons they could at least protect themselves against their weapons.

Now armor was something she wouldn't mind.

"I don't know how to make it, but it's a good idea." She glanced at the cuff on her wrist.

"I really hope they aren't listening." She grumbled for what felt like the thousandth time.

"Guns can be really complex. I've only ever seen like...the kind of guns they have in my world. The kind they used to kill that girl on TV? Who knows what weird guns they have here. They might shoot like, fire beams or lightning or stuff."

"I do no even be caring if they do be." She lashed out her wrist, crashing it against the nearest lamppost not caring that it jarred her arm.

"We should be finding out, and then we will be knowing what kind of armour we do be needing."

"I guess we could check the library." Sandy reasoned though she really doubted they'd just leave information like that laying around. Especially if it wasn't something they'd need to use in the arena.

"That do be being a good idea." She nodded and changed direction, they could go and look now as far as she was concerned, as long as Sandy didn't have anything important to do.

She didn't, so research time it was...

...but maybe first a stop at the ice cream parlor.

Yes indeed, for ice cream and research should always go together, in Pruna's mind at least.
