The tunnel to District 2, main transport for Peacekeepers, is unexpectedly closed before dawn. In edition, a mandatory evacuation is declared for mile around the tunnel, clearing out a large section of the South East part of town.

The evacuation ends several blocks from the Tribute Training center, but they hear plenty about it. And can see the Capitol citizens unhappily trudging to friends, relative, and the shelter set up for those with none.

The recording that plays every few minutes on all the stations state that there is danger of a possible gas leak, and the evacuation is precautionary.

However, resident report seeing teams going into the tunnels and not seeing them come out.

Some report screams.

Luckily for the Capitol, most of the teams were made of avoxes, so that rumor is easy to silence.

"Gee lying politicians. Now that doesn't shock me. It was a cannibalistic Cult back home; you'd think they'd be creative here." He did glance at her though. "You don't have the look of law enforcement, must be EMT?" He shook his head, that wasn't right. "Naw, you have the look of some authority, so I'm gonna guess a doctor?"

She leans to crane her neck, trying to see around a Peacekeeper. "Used to be. I doubt they care about licenses, though."

She sighs, and turns to the man. "Cannibalistic cult? Really?"

"This makes two that I've met then." He flashes a small grin at her. "I'm Chris and yeah they don't seem to care if you're law enforcement here either." He couldn't see anything past the Peacekeepers even with his taller frame.

"Well they had to explain why the bodies were showing up with bites out of them. Human and animal. Trust me that was better than saying the Z word."

"The Z word."

Humans and animals with bites taken out of them. Oh.

"They would rather be a cannibalistic cult than admit to the existence of zombies?"

"Chief Irons thought it wouldn't be as much of a panic." He sighed. "We're not going to get anywhere with this crowd." He was scouting for an opening, after all was time to see how much they really cared about the tributes right?

"Though maybe you shouldn't follow, they already have their eyes on me. Wouldn't want to get you into trouble Doc." He thought about Holiday, and Calico, they'd probably both be pissed for what he was half assed planning. "Besides I can't stand around if there are people hurt, not my style." He wasn't sure if he'd find an opening, but hey he'd try.

"I'm not sure we're going to get very far," she says, eyes narrowed. There are Peacekeepers everywhere. "It might be easier if we come back at night."

She looks back at him. "I'm Joan, by the way."

He held his hand out for her. "Pleased to meet you Dr. Joan. Though wish it was better terms." He nodded to the thugs of a police force the Capitol hired.

She was right though, they'd probably have better luck after the sun went down. "Yeah, you're right. Just, guess I'm thinking body count if it is a leak, these guys will send Avoxes, and really they're still people." Yes he hated how they were treated and tried to at least thank them if they helped him with anything. Even if it wasn't 'protocol'.

She shakes his hand. "Just Joan. I'm not a doctor anymore." She looks back at the line of guards, eyes narrowed in thought. "Somehow I suspect they're more likely to give the Avoxes protective gear than us. I mean, they're hardly considered people, but that's no reason to just kill them indiscriminately. At very least, it would be one less servant, right?"

Chris shakes his head. "Right,I would believe that if you had been working your way away from this mess not towards it. You might not be able to practice but I'm not going to bust ya for it." Because to him, unless you were hurting others, you're not breaking the law and here... well fellow tributes are excused for the most part.

He shrugged. Chris was pretty sure they had more Avoxes than what the tributes saw on a daily basis, probably more people in the wings to be made into them too.
