gamemakers: (capitol exclusive)

The shocking and thrilling adventures!

Who| Everyone
What| The Capitols oh so exclusive interviews~!
Where| Primarily the common areas, but the interviews would be on every TV everywhere.
When| This evening, at 6 pm sharp
Notes| Use this post to ICly react to the interviews (if you don't make plans of your own!)

The advertisements hit hard today. Tune in at 6 o'clock, you won't want to miss this special! Everywhere a person could look, it was there, and the city was clearly excited for whatever this mystery event was.

As if that wasn't enough, escorts were encouraging Tributes to be in the commons, and a small feast of finger foods was laid out along one wall, extra avoxes available for drinks.

And, as promised, at 6 pm sharp, all the TVs flickered to the ever flashy Caesar, on an equally flashy tabloid-tastick reality style "interview" of the tributes. All the TVs in the common area light up with it, as well as the Districts suites, even if the TV had been off before.

Hope you all enjoy your dose of fame!

"Your... what? That made no sense to me, I'm sorry." Peeta didn't understand any of that. Wriggler games? Physical friends were stuffed? What the hell was that all about?

So he's going to go to something he actually knows. "Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm going to do. I figured out how to do this. If you throw something into the force field, it'll throw it back at you. So, toss an apple in..." And here he throws one in, catching it when it pops back up.

Terezi lifts a brow at the apple, sniffing curiously. Welp. That is something, isn't it?

"Okay, I have to admit! That's a pretty neat trick. Let me try." She holds her hand out patiently for one of the apples that she now assumes he collected for the sake of having things to throw at the forcefield.

"...I was talking about children's games, by the way. Wrigglers are troll children. And I'm pretty sure that you should already know what stuffed animals are, so I hope I don't have to explain that one?"

"Here you go." Peeta handed over the apple. Yeah, he always had a supply of apples and oranges, just to throw them into the force field. At least they got some use this way. He didn't know what happened if they weren't used by the end of the day.

"...Yeah. That makes a lot more sense, now." He had to laugh. Now it just made him feel stupid. "The terms confused me for a second there."

"It's okay. We have a lot of stupid terms for a lot of stupid things. Even more-so when you consider how needlessly complex lowblood language is!"

Terezi turns the apple over in her hands, giving it a critical once over... Then lobs it against the force field. At the very least, she seems intrigued when she catches the returning fruit. Interesting.

"I could teach you sometime, if you want. Not all the words, obviously, that would take forever... But some fun ones, maybe!"

"See, there's another one that I don't understand, how can blood be high or low?" Peeta is assuming right now that all blood is the same color, so there's that whole thing. But it doesn't make sense. He'd heard doctors in the Capitol talk about high blood pressure, could that be it?

Okay. He tosses his orange into the force field and catches it when it comes out. It was almost therapeutic, really, and gave your hands something to do. Kept his hands in shape for baking.

"I'll take the teaching lessons. Can I trade you anything for them, I feel bad about getting something without returning the favor."

"...Has no one given you the basic biology course yet?" Terezi lifts a brow at him. "Wow, it would be a crime if I charged you for something this fundamental."

She lobs the fruit at the wall, continuing on in a casual tone. "Lowbloods are trolls who have blood colors from the lower end of the hemospectrum: Reds, browns, yellows. Some consider green to be lowblood too, but that's your general elitism. Lowbloods have a reduced social status and are expected to cater to those who have a higher blood color than them. Highblood is the opposite of that--elevated social status, privileges, what have you--with colors at the high end of the spectrum: purples, indigos, and blues. Tyrian is the highest blood color, that's our Empress. She's the only one with that color because she murders all her potential rivals for the throne."

Peeta just shrugged. No. They'd never had a biology course back home. What use was that when it came to mining coal, baking, or butchering? Biology was a science, right?

Still, he wasn't sure what to make of that. Really, people based someone on the color of their blood? That was insane, that would be like basing someone on the color of their skin, or what their job was. it didn't matter, that's just how it was. What was the point?

"Humans only have red blood." This was crazy. "Who decided what the colors mean? It's a spectrum that still has all the colors on it."

"The Empress, of course! Or at least, I would assume so. It's been used for so long, I don't know where it came from. Maybe she just inferred the social statuses from the lifespans of the caste groups. Warmer colors don't live nearly as long as cooler colors. Or maybe that was just the easiest set-up and she didn't really care so long as she was on top."

Terezi shrugs back at Peeta. "We'll never really know at this point."
