gamemakers: (capitol exclusive)

The shocking and thrilling adventures!

Who| Everyone
What| The Capitols oh so exclusive interviews~!
Where| Primarily the common areas, but the interviews would be on every TV everywhere.
When| This evening, at 6 pm sharp
Notes| Use this post to ICly react to the interviews (if you don't make plans of your own!)

The advertisements hit hard today. Tune in at 6 o'clock, you won't want to miss this special! Everywhere a person could look, it was there, and the city was clearly excited for whatever this mystery event was.

As if that wasn't enough, escorts were encouraging Tributes to be in the commons, and a small feast of finger foods was laid out along one wall, extra avoxes available for drinks.

And, as promised, at 6 pm sharp, all the TVs flickered to the ever flashy Caesar, on an equally flashy tabloid-tastick reality style "interview" of the tributes. All the TVs in the common area light up with it, as well as the Districts suites, even if the TV had been off before.

Hope you all enjoy your dose of fame!

The smile wasn't returned, but at least he gave a hum and a nod of agreement before turning back to the screen and eyeing it curiously. This was a technology that had yet to be invented, back in his Paris of 1832, and it—as well as the inaccurate interview that had just been broadcast—did puzzle him greatly.

"Are people truly entertained by this?"

"They seem to be..." Entertainment hadn't been considered important in No. 6. People worked or studied, they weren't even encouraged to make emotional connections to others in their work place or school never mind distant people on a screen.

"It seems to be important here... I don't really understand it."
saisamour: (i know you know)

He tilted his head almost imperceptibly and a thoughtful look crossed his face. Certainly, they had their own forms of entertainment back in Paris: there were the theatres, the dances, and the volumes of novels from the bookstores and booksellers along the streets. It was hardly as... grandiose and misleading as this, however.

"This is a strange world." That was all he could say on the subject, really.

And then his eyes widened, as if suddenly reminded of something. With flushed face, he turned back to the boy and said, "I am sorry. I had failed to introduce myself. I am Marius Pontmercy."

Shion nodded, he could agree with that at least.

Then he gave a small smile, "It is nice to meet you Marius Pontmercy. I'm Shion."
saisamour: (you move through the room)

"A pleasure."

Again, he did not smile in response, but the sincerity was evident enough in his voice. His natural timidity did not permit him to say anything more, however, and he began to fidget, his eyes cast to the ground.
savedbyasong: (serious)

Shion was quite awkward himself but he didn't like seeing people uncomfortable or upset so he gave another soft smile. "Are you new here?"
saisamour: (being as in love with you as i am)

[personal profile] saisamour 2013-06-16 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. That question he could answer simply enough, and besides, it would not hurt for him to attempt conversation, even if he wasn't very good at it.

"Yes, I suppose." There was a beat, followed by, "And you?"
savedbyasong: (tiny smiles)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2013-06-17 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes... well I have been here a few weeks. I haven't been in an arena yet though so I guess that counts as new." He shrugged.

"I see."

There was another awkward pause before he cleared his throat and grasped for something else to say.

"And..." He really was terrible at this, wasn't he. "And what district have you been sorted into?"
savedbyasong: (tiny smiles)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2013-06-18 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Four." He told him, "How about you?" Not that it meant much, but it was good to know where people were staying.
saisamour: (i see you deliver my heart with the)

[personal profile] saisamour 2013-06-19 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Three."

No sooner had he said that when it dawned on him that he was engaging in conversation with someone who he would be forced to fight against. Only one survivor; that was how the Games went, wasn't it? Would Shion kill him, if it came to that? Would he himself do it?

The sudden confusion cast a troubled look on his face, and he took a step back, wanting no more than to escape from the crowd, from the observers, from the Capitol and the Games and this world that meant nothing to him.
savedbyasong: (oh but I thought...)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2013-06-20 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
Shion blinked at him as he stepped away, but he understood, mostly. At least he understood the need to escape and touched the man's wrist lightly before gesturing to him to follow.

He wouldn't take him far, just out of the lounge into the lobby where there were at least less people and the air was cooler.
saisamour: (like breathing was easy)

[personal profile] saisamour 2013-06-21 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
The touch on his wrist served to snap him out of his momentary panic, and Marius stared for a moment, before he followed Shion out onto the lobby. Once he got there he instantly felt somewhat more collected; nowhere near the calm that washed over him whenever he thought of Cosette, but definitely more preferable than his agitation inside the crowded room.

And so a small, grateful smile formed on his lips as he cast Shion a glance. "Thank you."
savedbyasong: (tiny smiles)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2013-06-21 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Shion smiled nervously, "It's okay... I get panicked easily too..." And lost in his own thoughts, bogged down by everything he had to think about. "It's difficult to breathe in there."
saisamour: (I CAN'T REPLACE)

[personal profile] saisamour 2013-06-27 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah, then you understand, monsieur." He didn't really have a lot of friends, back home, and the group he was most acquainted with could be described as people in the various stages loud and opinionated. To know someone as easily stifled in groups of large people as he was a relief and... well, perhaps also somewhat nice. So he smiled, ever so briefly.

"This entire... presentation, and the attention it showers us with. It's rather unwanted, for me."

Shion nodded with a tiny smile, he was used to being around more confident people as well. "It is... I'd much rather be not known..."
saisamour: (I LOOK AROUND)

"Although, I suppose our mentors would not allow it." He looked rather deflated as he said that, staring at the ground and shuffling his feet.

But he looked back up and met Shion's eye shortly after. "I am sorry, monsieur, for having disturbed you. I will leave you to your solitude, if you allow it."
savedbyasong: (tiny smiles)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2013-07-06 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Shion nodded, "Of course," He didn't want to keep the other man from anything, "You haven't disturbed me but please go and rest."

He looked a little grateful at that, because he really did desire to retire to his room, where he could at least have a little peace and quiet away from curious and appraising eyes. So he gave Shion a nod and a tiny smile before turning away.

At least he had made an acquaintance, he supposed, which was likely the only good thing that had happened today.
