The shocking and thrilling adventures!

Who| Everyone
What| The Capitols oh so exclusive interviews~!
Where| Primarily the common areas, but the interviews would be on every TV everywhere.
When| This evening, at 6 pm sharp
Notes| Use this post to ICly react to the interviews (if you don't make plans of your own!)

The advertisements hit hard today. Tune in at 6 o'clock, you won't want to miss this special! Everywhere a person could look, it was there, and the city was clearly excited for whatever this mystery event was.

As if that wasn't enough, escorts were encouraging Tributes to be in the commons, and a small feast of finger foods was laid out along one wall, extra avoxes available for drinks.

And, as promised, at 6 pm sharp, all the TVs flickered to the ever flashy Caesar, on an equally flashy tabloid-tastick reality style "interview" of the tributes. All the TVs in the common area light up with it, as well as the Districts suites, even if the TV had been off before.

Hope you all enjoy your dose of fame!

Doctor of Romanceology.

Effie's jaw hurt from how tightly it was clenched. But given the way her District, and heer District's associates were presented, after the interviews aired, she had much more to deal with then her own personal life.

Still, later that night when she saw John, She was quick to pull him aside to..discuss things.

"What...what was all that?"

Of course Effie, don't remember that you watched those scenes yourself not too long ago.

John wet his lips anxiously. Well, here went nothing. He'd only been spending the last however long trying to think of the best wording to put the truth out there in a way that Effie would not only understand but also believe, without him having to take too much of a stance against the Capitol. Hopefully by now one of her own Tributes would have complained about the creative editing and he could build on that.

"Effie. I was going to come see you- to try and explain. That- I didn't say that, exactly, and I wasn't talking about Sherlock. They must have thought it was more entertaining to edit it like that. I think they did the same kind of thing with everybody, not just me..."

"So, that wasn't...you weren't pushing yourself..."

She was clearly barely containing herself. She wanted...well she wasn't sure what she wanted to do. But it wasn't keep everything in.

"Why would they do that?"
drpsychosomatic: (uhm...)

He shook his head, perhaps a little too vigorously.
"No, that wasn't- I don't know why they did it. They asked if there was anything else I wanted to say, in this interview they had us all do, and I said- something about wanting to be able to meet the people of the district I was representing. 'You have to let us meet the people we're fighting for'. I can't remember exactly what I said before that, but I definitely remember using the word 'connection'. They just cut my words up and rearranged them."

She frowned, clearly processing the concept, before relaxing. It was, then, not really anything unlike the way she presented Tributes sometimes, stretching the truth a little.

"I just don't understand why they'd stretch it that way."

He sighed. "Making out as if Sherlock and I are romantically involved? I don't know. The papers used to do it back home, too, though we never gave them interviews- they just assumed, because we were two men who lived and worked together. Don't get me wrong, Effie, I- Sherlock is my friend, and I will do everything I can to protect him, but not because we're together. Alright? I promise you."

"That's very...very reassuring. Thank you John."

She smiled, before reaching out to take his hand, squeezing it.

"It was silly...to get caught up in rumors like that. I just...lost my head." She squeezed his hand, before smiling brighter. "The papers back home? You were well known back home?"

Relief rolled off him in waves- he never had been very good at hiding his feelings. He squeezed her hand back gently, his thumb caressing over it reassuringly.
"No, it's alright. Honestly, Effie, I would have found it hard myself," he admitted. "Sherlock was getting famous, back home, and I worked with him. We solved crimes- he's ridiculously clever, you know- and I wrote up about them and published them on the Internet on my blog. We had write a wide readership, in the end. I suppose I must just have seemed a little too excited by it all, or something, who knows."
mannersmatter: (Drinks before dark.)

[personal profile] mannersmatter 2013-06-25 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
She chewed that over, nodding.

"Perhaps...I should get to know Sherlock a bit better. I admit I was...not very much myself the first time we met."

Though deep inside, she still had a little spark of pride at that moment.

John grinned. Sherlock had, of course, mentioned the incident, and he couldn't help but feel very fond of Effie at the thought.
"Wish I'd seen it," he laughed. "You really got him. It doesn't happen very often, and he could do with a bit of shaking up, some times."

"It was...something." She finally said, the corners of her mouth curling up.

Satisfying, was what it had been.

"I hope I haven't left too bad of an impression."

"Probably the same amount of something as when he asked me to punch him so he'd have the bruise for a disguise," he laughed. "God, I'd been wanting to do that for days. Sherlock- he inspires it, sometimes."

He didn't say what he probably should have said, that Sherlock never approved of his girlfriends, because they'd not quite got around to putting a title on whatever this was, and who wanted to hear about old girlfriends?
”I hear he wasn't exactly himself, either, so I wouldn't worry too much about it."

"Well, it's a relief to know it's not just an issue I've run into, then."

The smile that had been lurking now came out full tilt.

"It was a strange day for everyone, that's for sure. Some sponsors are..." She dropped her voice, her face going dark. "Quite troublesome, you know."

"So I've heard, though no-one's bothered to tell me which ones," he said, the smile that had spread over his face in response to hers evening out as her expression changed. He found he really missed that smile, and couldn't help but try and tell her.

"You really are- I must be the latest in a long list of people to tell you this, Effie, but- when you smile- it's beautiful," he said, colour slowly spreading under his skin.

Even under the pale makeup, a blush could be seen spreading over her own cheeks. Although she did hear that often enough, rarely with such sincerity.

"Thank you so much, John. It means a lot, coming from you." She pressed her lips together, trying to contain a much more girlish grin from taking over her face.

"I...uh...the, well...many of the Sponsors, actually are good people, but some...there is a large cultural gaps between them." She was trying, desperately, to get her mind back on track, still glowing from the compliment. "But some...like the Baron, are just sour."

John smiled, enjoying watching her try to keep herself composed- it was lovely, knowing that he'd managed to communicate the sentiment effectively, that it hadn't been taken the wrong way. He supposed Effie must be no stranger to compliments, but he rather hoped that not many of them came from people who felt hot as they said the words, people whose pulses jumped just a little as they waited to hear if the feeling they'd just expressed was welcome.
It was hard to concentrate on a subject as strange as sponsors, sour or not, when he was watching Effie suppress a smile, doing her best to smother it.

"People are people, I imagine," he said, simply. "Good ones, bad ones, mistaken ones-- and ones that I really hope will say yes when I ask them to dinner, tomorrow?"

"Well, any Sponsor would of course say-"

She paused, realizing that he was asking her, not about any actual sponsor, and that smile she was trying to keep down just got that much harder too.

"Well, I'm not actually allowed to be a sponsor..." She trailed off, realizing she was going into info mode again. "Id love to. If you meant me."

She suddenly felt 15 again, and wasn't sure how she felt about that.

"I did mean you, yes, and not because I'm hoping you'll send me things," he chuckled. "Though I wouldn't say no, obviously. You don't get in trouble for fraternising with enemy district tributes, do you?"

"No." She paused. "I double checked already."

Now would be the worst time to get fired for rule breaking, and it had never been an option she had before considered.

"I would love to."
