The advertisements hit hard today. Tune in at 6 o'clock, you won't want to miss this special! Everywhere a person could look, it was there, and the city was clearly excited for whatever this mystery event was.

As if that wasn't enough, escorts were encouraging Tributes to be in the commons, and a small feast of finger foods was laid out along one wall, extra avoxes available for drinks.

And, as promised, at 6 pm sharp, all the TVs flickered to the ever flashy Caesar, on an equally flashy tabloid-tastick reality style "interview" of the tributes. All the TVs in the common area light up with it, as well as the Districts suites, even if the TV had been off before.

"Good," he replies, "they can kill each other over them and forget about me."

His fingers are twitching again though, he really needs a cigarette. Thinking about spending the entire time in the arena without a smoke or a drink or a gun makes him a bit uncomfortable even if he can handle himself without them.

"And you? You got your own rivalries?"

"And I thought you were itching for a fight?" she asks with a raise of her eyebrows, but doesn't push it as far as she normally would. Not now, anyway, not when she still isn't sure of all the details.

"Here? Not at all." There weren't any people she remembered enough to be set against, not after meeting the axman. "Though they might see it differently."

"If they want to kill themselves, let them. I'll still get my fight," he cracks his knuckles, "I don't got a death wish." Although it usually seems like he does.

He smirks at her, "and ain't that the way to do it."

She smiles at that, and is about to say something about it-- but she found out the hard way that they'd come back anyway if they died here. It's only fair that others do the same.

Instead, she says, as if it's what she was going to say all along, "You'll get your chance soon enough. Then maybe you'll get your interview up there, and you can talk about how much you love everyone here."

He snorts, "oh yeah, I can give some bullshit answer about how everyone here is great and they can make it sound like I think everyone here is an asshole or I can just tell everyone that they're fucking assholes."

The people here will love him, sponsors will jump at the chance to help him out.

"But you'd miss the fun the rest of the room is having." She gestures to the others with a grin. "Surely it's much better to bond before you break their heads open."

"I'll make my own fun," besides, they look like they're having just as much fun as he is but if they want to twist his words then whatever they can do what they want.

He raises an eyebrow at her, "betrayal turn you on or something?"

"That's my brother's job," she says flippantly, as if he would know him-- she's still so used to people knowing as soon as she gives her name, and it's better to keep going than acknowledge that he must be dead by now. "I don't bother."

"What? Betrayal or turnin you on?" Because really neither of them really phase him. Some of his brothers are also some of his cousins and his dad wants to kill him so, you know, what ever floats your boat.

Her smile grows big and wicked and entertained.

"Just the former, if we're going to be specific." After all, it was the other way around for the latter-- and even if he was likely dead now, she'll never let him live that down.

There's probably something she's not telling him but it's definitely something he doesn't want to know.

"Family's a bitch, even if you're loyal to 'em."

"It's being loyal to them that's the problem," she sighs, overly dramatic, "and look how much good it does you?"

It landed her with a husband and an inability to return home even if she wasn't stuck in a death fight, so.

"Not that it matters much anymore."

"Be loyal but watch your back, s'how it goes, you don't gotta like it."

He understands, family loyalty has gotten him beaten, pistol whipped, and has gotten him and his sister raped.

"But they ain't here so I don't give a fuck about them."

Except his sister, he'd like to know she's okay not that he'd ever admit it.

"I think you and I understand each other," she says, taking a definitive sip of her drink, though she could do to follow his example for the latter statement. She's been here long enough that her chance must have slipped through her fingers; all that's left is to stop mourning it. "Though I'd love a chance to drive an ax through a few, should they choose to show up."

Ironborn must not shed the blood of Ironborn, but surely if they don't actually die, it doesn't count. And then I'd get to do it over and over again, until it finally sticks.

He laughs bitterly, "I'll drink to that," he takes a big gulp of his drink and mutters into the glass, "fuckin' family."

She raises her glass in mock toast and repeats, "Fucking family" with a smirk and a sideways glance that might be hinting at something extra in the words-- or at least something she finds funny. "Alas, if wishes were all we needed, the world would be a much better place. But we've got that out of the way, so we can return to murdering each other."

If he notices her double meaning he doesn't show it, then again if he did notice it he would have reacted. When his sister said Ian sexually assaulted her he tried to kill him, but when their father did it, well he was just lucky Mickey is afraid of him.

"A-fuckin-men."

He downs the rest of his drink.
