gamemakers: (capitol exclusive)

The shocking and thrilling adventures!

Who| Everyone
What| The Capitols oh so exclusive interviews~!
Where| Primarily the common areas, but the interviews would be on every TV everywhere.
When| This evening, at 6 pm sharp
Notes| Use this post to ICly react to the interviews (if you don't make plans of your own!)

The advertisements hit hard today. Tune in at 6 o'clock, you won't want to miss this special! Everywhere a person could look, it was there, and the city was clearly excited for whatever this mystery event was.

As if that wasn't enough, escorts were encouraging Tributes to be in the commons, and a small feast of finger foods was laid out along one wall, extra avoxes available for drinks.

And, as promised, at 6 pm sharp, all the TVs flickered to the ever flashy Caesar, on an equally flashy tabloid-tastick reality style "interview" of the tributes. All the TVs in the common area light up with it, as well as the Districts suites, even if the TV had been off before.

Hope you all enjoy your dose of fame!

"I hope not." They'd already turned him into some rogue soldier, and he might have gotten off lucky with getting the diplomacy angle taking a blow. But frankly, that was about the same as choosing between being punched or being punched with brass knuckles, and that was about it with the options. One less horrible but come on.

Daniel glanced at him, an eyebrow raising at the 'dearest' thing. "I was afraid of that. I was hoping the first step would be to force them to realize we're people. Not characters. The trolls were the grey Tributes?"

"Yup!" Jay says. "Grey, horned, vicious-toothed. I can see why they went for the monster angle, really. Always easier to sell the other than the just-like-you, when it comes to ... publicity."

He laughs, realising a touch too late that this is the sort of cynicism that can count as anti-Capitol. Damn it, he was doing so well.

Daniel's raised eyebrow does not bother him. Most people are put off by the endearments. Really, that's half the point of them.

Daniel couldn't help but shoot a glance back at the screen, as if double check if those teeth were really as vicious as he'd said. They'd looked impressive for a humanoid, sure, but they might have a run for their money against a shark or crocodile. And sure enough, the screen was busy flashing heads, this time trying to find out just how attractive was Mr. Wesker, Victor extraordinarily to the other Tributes.

"It's probably the air of mystery that comes with it and the "alien" aspect to," Daniel said disapprovingly. Easier for the Capitol to point at them, and these guys like a zoo.

"I think it's the skin colour, personally," Jay says, airily. "They do rather look like corpses. Less ... mottled, however. Nobody likes corpses."

He turns to Daniel and grins at him. The grin is crooked and entirely humourless.

"I'm sorry, darling, it's awfully rude of me to just start talking without introducing myself. My name's Jay. I'm currently of District Six."

Maybe they looked it more in person, but compared to R, they didn't look corpse-like to him at all from what he had seen in those videos. Then again, someone might look at an etching and see one thing, another person see something entirely different.

"Nobody likes being reminded of their mortality all the time, at least," Daniel said instead. He kind of wished he'd stop calling him darling or the pet names though; the only people who got away with a pet name at all was Sha're and...he didn't want to even finish that sentence, but Jack. Daniel held out a hand. "Dr. Daniel Jackson. District Ten. Cold ass bastard, apparently."

Jay took Daniel's hand, a little hesitantly, and shook it. The Capitol custom of shaking hands was still quite odd to him. Why wouldn't polite bows do? You could even regulate the level of politeness there, by the depth of the bow.

"I'm the one they're making dolls out of," Jay said, smiling. "Really, it could be worse. Much worse."

Maybe he shouldn't have offered his hand. Some people just weren't comfortable with the contact, and a great many others just didn't view it as a way to greet another person. Or you had special cases like R where it probably wasn't a good idea sticking your hand anywhere near those teeth or that appetite.

"I think you got off luckier than most. You might even be a collector's item," Daniel said dryly. Like those people who had saved Star Wars action figures years ago...and last he'd heard, they'd suddenly become worth something. Thousands of years later, one or two might get preserved in some junk heap somewhere and some poor archaeologist was going to wonder if it had any ritual significance.

Jay laughs and puts his hand over his heart.

"You think so? I'd love that!"

It's not precisely a lie. He would find it flattering, though the term "collector's item" does make him think of being arm candy and he winces, inwardly, at the association.

"Maybe you'll get to see some benefits, too, darling."

He thinks of adding "ones that could help you win", but then remembers that'd involve him being dead. Whoops.
