The advertisements hit hard today. Tune in at 6 o'clock, you won't want to miss this special! Everywhere a person could look, it was there, and the city was clearly excited for whatever this mystery event was.

As if that wasn't enough, escorts were encouraging Tributes to be in the commons, and a small feast of finger foods was laid out along one wall, extra avoxes available for drinks.

And, as promised, at 6 pm sharp, all the TVs flickered to the ever flashy Caesar, on an equally flashy tabloid-tastick reality style "interview" of the tributes. All the TVs in the common area light up with it, as well as the Districts suites, even if the TV had been off before.

He runs a hand through his hair and takes one, glancing up with an appreciative smile before going back to looking anywhere else. "At least I didn't say anything," he sighs-- but even then it doesn't make a difference, given what happened with the others.

"At least they didn't show clips of us," he agrees, offering an apologetic smile with his quiches. "Think everyone else is doing alright?"

It could be worse, he knows; the focus could be on what they were doing, making them up to be some sort of guild of killers instead of a group 'secretly' planning on betraying themselves. "I bet a few are mad about misrepresentation."

He's more upset about them showing the truth on his end.

"I don't believe anybody thinks what got showed was what was said, or at least what was said in context." But Steve frowns regardless, taking a sip of brightly colored liquid. "I think it's just for the viewers," he says, though he'd say the same thing about reality TV and suppose the actors aren't really mad at each other....

"Everyone here must know, it happened to everyone," he says in agreement, though it's not exactly making him sound any happier. "They just want us as bloodthirsty and murderous as possible to keep themselves entertained."

The worst part, though, is that he can say anything, everything, and he's still more likely to deliver than anyone else in the room.

"Then don't worry about it," Steve replies, knitting his brows trying to figure out why Bruce is this upset about it. But they didn't say anything about Steve, so he guesses he can't really empathize.

He claps a hand on Bruce's shoulder. It's not much, but they're in this together ok idk how many more times I can say that it's so cheesy I play Captain America I get a pass.

He sighs, messing with the hair on the back of his head in a nervous tick without wanting to go too much into it-- it's easier just to grin and keep his head down, like always, and maybe someone else will do something exciting and he can slip into the background again.

But Steve's trying, so he glances to the side with a tiny little smile acknowledging that you're cheesy as fuck before throwing all of his attention into getting another plate of food. "Yeah. Let's try some hummus, it's probably not made with something terrible."

"What is hummus, anyway?" Steve asks, because he doesn't know and he can't figure it out just by looking. Or by tasting, apparently. Actually, when he first saw it, he thought it'd be really gross and he had to watch Bruce eat it first before he even knew what to do with it (he would have spooned it in, like mashed potatoes.)

All he can really make out is the lemon.

His life has become some sort of weird mix of completely morbid things... and then totally normal, mundane things. He's getting a bit of related whiplash.

"Chick peas and sesame," he says, plopping a nice bit onto a plate, because this spread is probably Hummus Place levels of quality and decked out really deliciously. "It's big in Middle Eastern food. People put it on shawarma, actually."

Then he remembers how he's the only one who actually liked that shawarma, whoops.

Yeah Banner, some of us were really tired and don't exactly like GC-quality cuisine. "I think mine could've used a lot of hummus," he tells Bruce. "It was dry." Maybe he should have read some instructions on how to eat the damn thing 'cause he was falling asleep in it.
