Lindsey didn't realize it at first. Hey, tributes had their own lives, even District mates and buddies who he saw on a regular basis, Gabriel could've hidden himself to get depressed over dying. Lindsey would've understood. Given, he had a better idea of how to get over it in mind, but he would need to find the angel first.

But Gabriel never showed up.

And after a few days of waiting, even after the victor was determined, Lindsey realized that Gabriel was gone.

Just fucking great, every time he got close to someone, made a friend, hell, even forgave an old one enough to maybe consider they could be buddies again, they became Gone. Way to go, Captitol, Panem, or whoever determined things like this. That was why Lindsey found himself some random bar and got drunk.

"You know... the kicked puppy look is probably a little better fitting on Eliot not you." Boy Chris can you be an ass today or what. "So, what's got you down Lindsey? Or do we not have enough booze for that yet?" He motioned to have two drinks brought over because really he wasn't going to let the guy drink alone.

Lindsey glared up blearily at the newcomer, recognizing him as one of the tributes who he crossed paths with a few times. Chris, that was the guy's name.

"You looking to get killed outside of the arena too?"

He took a drink of his whiskey, some expensive thing that he probably shouldn't drink on his budget. It was strong though, that was all he needed. "Buy the next round and maybe I'll tell you."

"Yeah, but not by you." He chuckled a little taking a drink.

"Hey fine with me I really don't have anything else to do today." Because really, his district was full of kids and he didn't want to deal with kids at the moment. "Just as long as it's not going to be one of those silly lookin' concoctions they pass off as cocktails around here. I don't buy umbrella drinks for guys."

"Wouldn't drink those myself either." Deciding that he didn't sound slurred enough, Lindsey downed the rest of his tumbler and felt his eyes water from the burn fuel he was drinking.

"Thought death wasn't permanent in those arenas." Except it obviously wasn't if Gabriel and Lorne were both gone. How could he not have noticed earlier?

Hearing the second part of what Lindsey said he figured it might be best if the bartender just left the bottle.

"Who's missing? Well other than Eliot, but he showed up when I mentioned football. Good thing too, I think Parker needs his stability more." He took another drink of his grimacing a little. He wasn't that into the stronger stuff, but hey beat another one of their overly flavored beers. Really guys don't care for berries in their beer serve that stuff to the women thanks.

That was why Lindsey bought the whole bottle and it was a good part empty.

"Gabriel," he surprised himself by answering.

He tried to pour himself another measure of the whiskey and, apparently he was more tipsy than he thought. His glass started to weave across the table and he had to hold it still before he poured so as not to waste the whiskey.

Chris had to think for a moment to remember who Gabriel was. He couldn't but frowned anyway. "Sorry."

Catching Lindsey's hand he poured the man the shot. "Keep it up I'm walking you to your room."

Chris' expression was too obvious that he had no idea who Lindsey was talking about. "He's from my district," he clarified, then muttered a soft "thanks" under his breath about the drink.

He also blatantly ignored what Chris said about walking him to his room. It should be Gabriel doing that. Damnit, he couldn't believe he actually missed the guy that much.

"What, you didn't hear about how we turned the last arena into public porn? Their fault for not giving us any privacy."

Chris actually choked on his drink a moment at the last bit. He hadn't heard about it.

"Was it worth it?" Was the only thing that came to mind, and out of his mouth before he could stop himself. Way to go Chris!

Chris' question jolted Lindsey into considering what he hadn't before. Did they get rid of Gabriel because if what they did? But why Gabriel, not him?

"Sure," he answered flippantly with a offhand wave. "Can you think of something the arena needs more? Love, but sex will do."

Chris chuckled a little at that. "And here I missed it hanging out with the pretty little blond friend of Eliot's."

"They must've thought we were really bad influence." Lindsey followed it with a bitter laugh and worked to pour more of his whiskey. "Sounds typical of what they'd do... What I would've done."

Again, the glass looked like it wanted to run away, so he steadied it with his hand. When that didn't seem to work, he blinked very hard to try to clear his vision.

Chris grabbed the bottle from him. "Why don't you start goin' easy on that." He did pour him half a glass though.

"I don't think I would have... But that's because it kinda makes for better entertainment." Hey he's a guy and yes one of his favorite places back home is a strip club, amazingly it's not for the girls, they make killer hot wings from scratch.

Lindsey made an unhappy noise when Chris took his bottle, but the half glass that returned was enough to settle him for the moment.

"Can't control people who'd break the rules," Lindsey pointed out. He must be really getting drunk after all if he was saying these things. "Better to separate them, divide and conquer. Easier to control that way."

"Yeah, hopefully he's okay. And don' worry as long as you don't come at me with a blade again I'll watch your back in there. Don't think we could get into too much trouble though."

"Hasn't heard from him in a week... no one's heard from him." Given the track record here, that wasn't a good sign at all. Why Lindsey wrote Gabriel off as dead and figured it was probably best if he was.

"You'll watch my back?" He laughed and made very good headway with his half glass. "Don't need to have my back watched."

"Damn..."

At Lindsey's laugh he chuckled. "Yeah, if you can make it to the door without help I'll believe it Lindsey." He doubted the guy would make it five steps.

"Not looking to make it to the door," Lindsey argued, showing that he might be drunk but he could still make an argument.

"I'm looking for my bottle." He reached out for the bottle on the other side of Chris. He had emptied his half glass already and wanted more. If he could walk out that door, he wasn't drunk enough.

Chris kept an arm out to block him, he wasn't going to just hand the bottle back over, Lindsey looked like if he kept it up he'd be in medical for alcohol poisoning.

And he wasn't sure with how this place was... that they'd have treatments for it. Probably do but yeah... why risk it

"Lindsey, really, you think he'd want you to be doing this?"

The question made so little sense to Lindsey's inebriated mind that Lindsey only stared back drunkenly. "What?" he asked, not understanding who the 'he' was or why would anyone think to stop him from getting drunk.

He made an annoyed noise and tried to get around Chris for the bottle. "Out of my way. I paid for the whole thing, I'm drinking it."

"You think he'd want you to get shit faced drunk in public?" Chris kept him from the bottle. "If you can get past me then fine I'll let you have it, but if not, we'll take it with us and you're going to bed."

"No, I think he'd join me." Lindsey grinned a bit at that thought, remembering the crazy things that he and Gabriel would do. It wasn't much, but he really thought he found a good companion with the angel.

Recalling the present though, his grin twisted and became a sardonic expression. Still, he tried to reach across Chris, a little disoriented, to grab his bottle. "No point in bringing it back when I can perfectly finish it here."

"And here I thought Eliot was the one who wasn't as discreet. Come on, let's head back before you say something to get your head knocked of Lindsey."

"There's nothing indiscreet about drinking!" He stopped his attempts at reaching his bottle to give Chris a drunken look of annoyance. "Why're you here?"

"No but mouthing off, thought you and Eliot were better about that than I was." He had a smug grin. "Though if you want to cause trouble fine." He handed over the bottle. Lindsey had done a good job with trying to get it.
