Lindsey didn't realize it at first. Hey, tributes had their own lives, even District mates and buddies who he saw on a regular basis, Gabriel could've hidden himself to get depressed over dying. Lindsey would've understood. Given, he had a better idea of how to get over it in mind, but he would need to find the angel first.

But Gabriel never showed up.

And after a few days of waiting, even after the victor was determined, Lindsey realized that Gabriel was gone.

Just fucking great, every time he got close to someone, made a friend, hell, even forgave an old one enough to maybe consider they could be buddies again, they became Gone. Way to go, Captitol, Panem, or whoever determined things like this. That was why Lindsey found himself some random bar and got drunk.

"Yeah like I'm going to arm you." Chris chuckled, he wouldn't even trust Lindsey with one of those swords they use for cocktail olives.

"Maybe in the training room tomorrow."

"You stand no chance tomorrow," Lindsey said arrogantly, "And not much chance right now either." He grinned though, a slightly drunk expression and he pointed the neck of his bottle towards Chris.

"But sure, your choice. It's less embarrassing than losing to a drunk."
