Oh, this is the night and the heavens are right on this lovely Bella Notte

Who| Everyone who signed up for blind dating!
What| An evening of romance, or disaster, take your pick.
Where| The Swift Cut restaurant
When| 16th June
Warnings/Notes| The course of true love never did run smooth. Remember that if your character was not rolled in arena but you signed up for them to be here, you will need to mark their death on fatality reporting.

The atmosphere at the Swift Cut this evening is bustling. It's clear from the moment one enters the restaurant that they have pulled all the stops out for this televised extravaganza.

Every fire is lit and the air is filled with the scent of the roasting meat on spits over the flames; boar, beef, pork, venison and more. Pots bubble with the smell of hot stew, vegetables are being roasted in ovens and from giant casks around the room beer is being drawn. The staff are in full 'barbarian' getup, consisting of skimpy furs on both the male and the female servers but luckily for you they don't seem to expect a similar dress code from their guests.

Tribute's stylists may have had other ideas, of course.

The giant room has been clearly divided. Tribute's will find themselves directed to one side while trueborn citizens of Panem and petitioned out individuals are brought to the other. It is left up to them to find their table with the number they will be handed upon entering the restaurant. Whether they are the first to arrive at their table is a matter of chance but they can be sure that a cameraman will always be there to capture the moment of realisation on both participants faces when they realise who their date is.

Once everyone is seated the music will begin the play. Minstrels strum lutes and harps, their voices filling the air softly with traditional medieval ballads. There is a space set aside for dancing if anyone is in the mood.

Throughout the evening, and certainly at the end, Tribute's and Capitolites will find themselves sporadically approached by the show host to be asked questions about how they feel the evening is going. It's up to them how honestly they answer, though they should remember the camera's are always watching.

...Okay, so definitely not anything Gary was expecting. Engrossed in a one-sided debate with their waiter, he doesn't realize that the half-empty table they're headed towards with the smarmy guy in the crown is the one he's destined for until said guy starts talking to him. Gary stops abruptly and passes several very confused looks between Pietro and the waiter. Then he lingers on the latter. Is this really his table? No response, at least not a fast enough one for Gary's tastes, so he shrugs, decides to take it as a 'yes,' and drags out his chair. Dating a boy tonight! This is new and interesting, everything's fine.

"I'll have you know I won that battle," Gary proudly declares as he slumps down in his seat. The waiter hurries off to get the drinks Gary's already ordered for them. "The cape is my trophy. How about you? Is your stylist going for the 'damsel in distress' look, or did you pick out that tiara yourself?"

He is going to have fun with this.

That actually catches him off guard, everyone he'd ever insulted reacted with anger or frustration or embarrassment, no one -at least recently- had turned it around on him. He smirked, now he was intrigued. Maybe this guy had potential to be somewhere near his level.

Pietro leaned back in his seat and ran a finger along the thin silver around his head. "My stylist just knew the commoners I'd be surrounding myself with tonight would be too dumb to recognize royalty when blessed with his presence. She tried her best, it'lldoalright, I guess. It's certainly better than other options."

His smirk faded a little and that slightly bothered feeling came back in the face of a real conflict. "They don't expect us to be on a date, right? We're both guys, that's not how this usually goes."

As Gary has decided that the gender conflict is the least concerning part of this experience right now, he decides to address it first, leaning forward over the table and dropping his voice to a stage whisper. "Don't worry about it too much," he says, waving a dismissive hand. "They just want a good show is all. Act natural, you'll be fine."

He leans back and looks quite satisfied with himself. Now, to the banter.

"Yeah, she knew you'd need it," Gary says, loudly and with a heavy roll of his eyes. "Who're you supposed to be, anyways? I'm pretty sure I'm not looking at the queen of England or whatever."
