The Victor is...

Who| EVERYONE. IC participation is mandatory (OOC is not, you may handwave)
What| Momoko's victory crowning
Where| The ball room
When| The Wednesday before the next arena.
Warnings/Notes| None atm.

The party was styled for Momoko.

The tables were covered in lace, delicate dishes and silverware, flowers that fell from vases covered in Victorian paintings. It was the most extravagant tea party to ever be thrown, with tiny, thin china cups and a too many tiny little finger foods being passed around to count. The ballroom has been styled in extravagant Baroque, as the Capitol was fairly liberal with their adaption of historical time periods.

The costumes were just as liberally chosen, from tall, powdered wigs holding birdcages with live birds, clearly hailing in the style of Marie Antoinette to regency gowns gathered under daringly (and occasionally outright) exposed busts to tight corsets and the skeletons of skirts exposed and decorated. A quarter played live music at one end of the room, before a wide dance floor.

At the head of the room there was a long table with a throne for Momoko, as elaborate as anything else in the room. And along the long table, group close to those who they seemed to enjoy, was a place for many of the Tributes, with a small place card that said "Special guest of The Capitol." This table was fed first, received drinks first, and was clearly favored.

Any Tributes not seated at the long table with their peers were dispersed among the the smaller table spread about the room, left to rub elbows with the guests invited from the Capitol, and the reporters covering the event. Security was, if anything, tighter than the last crowning.

These people have seats a the big kids table. You guys are free to decide who sits by who (And if three people sit by one person, don't worry too much about it) but they are, when possible set by their friends:

"So that's two of us," she admitted, taking the hand and giving it a small squeeze. She dropped it quickly, though, continuing to eye the woman before her. Though the smile was pleasant - and sincere - the curiosity behind her eyes was just as real.

"Are you supposed to be a Tribute, too?" She tilted her head, studying the other woman. Lady thought back to her conversation with Enjolras before and wondered again if perhaps the Tributes were all like her: animals forced into human bodies.

Not quite - she was a batgirl forced into non-costumed form.

"I think most of us are," she admitted," eyes traveling across the people. So many tributes.

She continued to stare, trying to figure out the situation further. "Are you looking forward to it?"

After all, she'd been told she ought to be honored, and all the people here seemed to think it was a terribly important role.

"...To fights to the death?" she asked, tilting her head a bit. Did the girl not realize what exactly they had been signed up for?

...Barbara really hoped she wasn't the first to break the news.

Lady took that as a 'no', but really, what was the concept of a fight to the death to a creature unable to process what death even was? As far as she could tell, death meant sleeping forever. And Lady liked to sleep. She enjoyed laying in the sunshine on the foot of the bed, stretching and rolling around, dreaming of chasing pigeons and squirrels. It seemed pleasant to one unfamiliar with her own mortality.

"The people who greeted me said it was a distinguished honor."

It hadn't quite processed for Barbara, either - Barbara, who's surprisingly light version of Gotham almost always ended in Batman saving the day, and even the joker-gassed were usually healed like nothing happened.

But she still wasn't quite as innocent as Lady. She hoped things wouldn't go bad for the girl.

"I think they're saying that to everyone."

"So it must be true," Lady replied brightly, nodding as she spoke. She'd never been deceived before. She'd never experienced cruelty. Lies didn't exist in her mind, nor did deception. Whatever people said to her was to be taken at face value.

"That's one way of putting it..." How to explain? ...Maybe it was better not to. At least not just yet. She wasn't really good with this heavy stuff... and Lady could keep her simple world for a tiny bit longer.

"At least they give good food."

She nodded in agreement, though her efforts at eating have been somewhat hit or miss. Wielding utensils was a skill she had yet to fully develop.

"It does smell lovely. Do you know what it is?"

"Not a clue," she admitted, peeking at the food on her own plate. She had the feeling that most of it was indescribably fancy - which meant that she was probably better off not knowing what was in it anyway.
