The Victor is...

Who| EVERYONE. IC participation is mandatory (OOC is not, you may handwave)
What| Momoko's victory crowning
Where| The ball room
When| The Wednesday before the next arena.
Warnings/Notes| None atm.

The party was styled for Momoko.

The tables were covered in lace, delicate dishes and silverware, flowers that fell from vases covered in Victorian paintings. It was the most extravagant tea party to ever be thrown, with tiny, thin china cups and a too many tiny little finger foods being passed around to count. The ballroom has been styled in extravagant Baroque, as the Capitol was fairly liberal with their adaption of historical time periods.

The costumes were just as liberally chosen, from tall, powdered wigs holding birdcages with live birds, clearly hailing in the style of Marie Antoinette to regency gowns gathered under daringly (and occasionally outright) exposed busts to tight corsets and the skeletons of skirts exposed and decorated. A quarter played live music at one end of the room, before a wide dance floor.

At the head of the room there was a long table with a throne for Momoko, as elaborate as anything else in the room. And along the long table, group close to those who they seemed to enjoy, was a place for many of the Tributes, with a small place card that said "Special guest of The Capitol." This table was fed first, received drinks first, and was clearly favored.

Any Tributes not seated at the long table with their peers were dispersed among the the smaller table spread about the room, left to rub elbows with the guests invited from the Capitol, and the reporters covering the event. Security was, if anything, tighter than the last crowning.

These people have seats a the big kids table. You guys are free to decide who sits by who (And if three people sit by one person, don't worry too much about it) but they are, when possible set by their friends:

Her face fell. "No," she began, "I understand. I'm sorry. I wish I was."

Holiday wanted a connection out there, too, after all.

"Still quite the coincidence," he remarked as he shifted in his chair, busying himself with getting closer to the table. Trying to pretend it didn't matter and to lighten the mood again.

"So, where is that yer from?"
doc_holi: (worried)

[personal profile] doc_holi 2013-03-17 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Right... "I suppose I'm from New York, if you know where that is. Everyone seems to be from so many different... worlds."

"I do," he nodded, finally looked at her again. Thinkin' he could trust himself to stop searching her face for similarities. "Never been there myself, but I know where it is. I'm from Kansas. Dodge City."

She feels really bad about all of this.

"Dodge City. I've been near there before on work." She's been all over for work.

Even if he could have managed it just then, Wyatt wouldn't have bothered getting excited again. He'd heard that line before.

Already felt that disappointment.

"I'll hazard a guess and say yer work didn't bring ya out any time 'round 1878, did it?"
doc_holi: (really worried)

... Dammit, he is good at making her feel bad.

"No... I'm about a hundred or two years ahead of that, actually."

"Figured," he nodded again, curled his lips for her benefit.

It wasn't her fault, after all. She couldn't be blamed for his disappointment.

"What's it like?" he asked after a moment, hoping to change that look in her eyes. "Dodge, that is. When you saw?"

She shifted, smiling to him. "It's a pretty historic place, actually. Famous for... well, your era. It's still known for cowboys and the wild west."

To be honest, it was more of a tourist attraction, but there was a lot of history there. To bad Holiday didn't know much of it.

He was pleased to find that he no longer flinched at the word cowboy. Apparently hearing it so often had finally gotten him used it.

Even if still tasted funny.

"I've heard tell folks find it fascinatin', for whichever strange reason." He shrugged bemusedly. "Don't quite understand it myself, but to each their own."

"There's a lot of history there from your era that people like to learn about. I'm not sure of it all, though. Studying medicine didn't leave much room for other studies."

Three doctorates before she was twenty-eight... They aren't all medicine, though.

His mouth curled into a polite, if disbelieving smile. He knew it was true - hell, even Capitol folks came up him with questions about when and where he'd come from - but that didn't mean he understood the why of it.

They were just people. Men and women doing what people did.

Minus the national death games, a'course.

"Knowin' how to stitch a wound will probably serve ya much better than knowin' what a man wears to bed," he mused, recalling one particularly odd conversation with a fan.

Holiday couldn't help a snicker at that. "I'd imagine so. Especially in this place."
the_marshal: (wyattSmile)

[personal profile] the_marshal 2013-03-25 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
"A'course," he shifted, mustache twitching as he smiled, teasing. "Now that you've spilled the beans about yer talents, don't be surprised if I come knockin' on yer door, hopin' for a house call."
doc_holi: (warm smile)

[personal profile] doc_holi 2013-03-27 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't mind," she smiled before glancing to the Victor's table. "It's going to make winning extremely hard." Of course, she's not telling anyone that she doesn't actually plan on winning.
the_marshal: (wyattSmirk)

[personal profile] the_marshal 2013-03-28 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
He snorted gently.

"Don't beat yerself up too bad 'bout that," he said, mouth twisting wryly. "There are plenty of folks here that have 'trouble' with winning, so you'll be in fine company."
doc_holi: (means a lot)

[personal profile] doc_holi 2013-03-29 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
... She gave a warm smile at that.

"Good. It actually does make me feel better about this place."
the_marshal: (wyattSmirk)

[personal profile] the_marshal 2013-03-30 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"There ain't much to take comfort in here," he nodded sagely, turning a bit to look over the crowd. "But there is that at least."
doc_holi: (worried)

[personal profile] doc_holi 2013-04-02 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
She nodded. "Good. I didn't stay long in the last arena, so I wouldn't have guessed."
