The Victor is...
Who| EVERYONE. IC participation is mandatory (OOC is not, you may handwave)
What| Momoko's victory crowning
Where| The ball room
When| The Wednesday before the next arena.
Warnings/Notes| None atm.
The party was styled for Momoko.
The tables were covered in lace, delicate dishes and silverware, flowers that fell from vases covered in Victorian paintings. It was the most extravagant tea party to ever be thrown, with tiny, thin china cups and a too many tiny little finger foods being passed around to count. The ballroom has been styled in extravagant Baroque, as the Capitol was fairly liberal with their adaption of historical time periods.
The costumes were just as liberally chosen, from tall, powdered wigs holding birdcages with live birds, clearly hailing in the style of Marie Antoinette to regency gowns gathered under daringly (and occasionally outright) exposed busts to tight corsets and the skeletons of skirts exposed and decorated. A quarter played live music at one end of the room, before a wide dance floor.
At the head of the room there was a long table with a throne for Momoko, as elaborate as anything else in the room. And along the long table, group close to those who they seemed to enjoy, was a place for many of the Tributes, with a small place card that said "Special guest of The Capitol." This table was fed first, received drinks first, and was clearly favored.
Any Tributes not seated at the long table with their peers were dispersed among the the smaller table spread about the room, left to rub elbows with the guests invited from the Capitol, and the reporters covering the event. Security was, if anything, tighter than the last crowning.
These people have seats a the big kids table. You guys are free to decide who sits by who (And if three people sit by one person, don't worry too much about it) but they are, when possible set by their friends:

At least she hadn't acted on her True Lady remark and actually slapped him, though he wasn't going to touch that line about her being a true lady. Anyone could be a lady, but this was one of those cases where you just couldn't win. Better to take the safe way out and play dumb. Daniel's mouth quirked. "That makes you sensible. You can breathe first, then you can slap," he told her. Might as well go for a good, hard slap, and that happened best when you could get air in. "Though I'd prefer you didn't."
She turned, slowly and stiffly. Sure enough, there was already a tear in the bodice, and laces tied so tightly that Daniel winced. "No wonder. You needed someone to stand by to adjust them or just in case a lady fainted." He didn't touch the laces yet. "Did you want me to...?"
no subject
"Would you still respect me in the morning?"
no subject
"Sure, and in the afternoon and evening and so on," he replied, and wasn't this dangerously close to flirting now that he thought about it. Daniel did the better thing, which was shut up while he was ahead, and began to loosen the laces.
no subject
"If anyone I knew could see me now..." she murmured, half-amused, half-embarrassed.
Roth would be swinging away... Sam... Sam would probably be cheering her on.
But then the corset loosened and her aching ribs expanded and she was too busy taking her first full, glorious breath, in over an hour to worry about it.
"Oh my God," she breathed, gasping for the sheer pleasure of breathing. "Thank you."
no subject
Daniel looked up for a moment, brushing the hair out of his eyes when she spoke suddenly. "They'd probably be wondering how you even agreed to the dress, much less stayed in it."
Another set of ties loosened, then another. The rest seemed to loosen itself. Daniel took a step back, grinning a little at the sheer relief. "You're welcome." He glanced over at the stylists roaming the crowd. "You might want to hide that from your stylists though."
no subject
"Back to the wall for the rest of the evening," she nodded solemnly, "check."
Then her face softened again and she turned, an appropriately sheepish smile lifting her mouth. "Lara," she offered, holding out a slim, confident hand.
no subject
Daniel took the offered hand in his own. Smaller than his, but she had a confident grip, which Daniel returned. "Doctor Jackson. But Daniel's fine too."
He could imagine what Jack would say to that; Might as well be on a first name basis after you'd unlaced her, Daniel. Or he'd not say it all, just give one of those dry looks (and it was either a testament to how well he knew the colonel that Daniel was becoming versed in all the Jack O'Neill looks and what they meant or slightly depressing), a raised eyebrow, and hold back the grin that was coming up.
Yes... I did just have the British girl make a baseball reference.
Might as well get to know the man a bit, she figured, considering they'd already hit (what would Sam have said?) second base.
Re: Yes... I did just have the British girl make a baseball reference.
"Archaeology; namely Egyptology." Daniel managed a dry smile. "I could always lecture the Hunger Games' audience for hours or days maybe until they give up. Or learn something."
no subject
Surprise and, yes, delight, washed over Lara's face in a wave; her eyebrows shooting up, a smile widening her mouth.
"Are you serious? I just got my degree in archaeology. I was - in the field when I was brought here."
