gamemakers: (tea party)

The Victor is...

Who| EVERYONE. IC participation is mandatory (OOC is not, you may handwave)
What| Momoko's victory crowning
Where| The ball room
When| The Wednesday before the next arena.
Warnings/Notes| None atm.

The party was styled for Momoko.

The tables were covered in lace, delicate dishes and silverware, flowers that fell from vases covered in Victorian paintings. It was the most extravagant tea party to ever be thrown, with tiny, thin china cups and a too many tiny little finger foods being passed around to count. The ballroom has been styled in extravagant Baroque, as the Capitol was fairly liberal with their adaption of historical time periods.

The costumes were just as liberally chosen, from tall, powdered wigs holding birdcages with live birds, clearly hailing in the style of Marie Antoinette to regency gowns gathered under daringly (and occasionally outright) exposed busts to tight corsets and the skeletons of skirts exposed and decorated. A quarter played live music at one end of the room, before a wide dance floor.

At the head of the room there was a long table with a throne for Momoko, as elaborate as anything else in the room. And along the long table, group close to those who they seemed to enjoy, was a place for many of the Tributes, with a small place card that said "Special guest of The Capitol." This table was fed first, received drinks first, and was clearly favored.

Any Tributes not seated at the long table with their peers were dispersed among the the smaller table spread about the room, left to rub elbows with the guests invited from the Capitol, and the reporters covering the event. Security was, if anything, tighter than the last crowning.

These people have seats a the big kids table. You guys are free to decide who sits by who (And if three people sit by one person, don't worry too much about it) but they are, when possible set by their friends:

Atticus Bell
Draco Malfoy
Chibi-Usa
Dr. Grey
Adel
Tony Stark
Howard Bassem
Javert Neeshka
Vanessa Carlysle
Lindsey McDonald
R
Albert Wesker
K
Alpha
Diana
Katurian
Aunamee
Maximus
Blaine Anderson
Alex Rider
Glinda
Gaila
Parker
John Watson

"The colors suit you," Lindsey said as he approached the table dressed in some sort of shining blue long coat said to reflect the night sky. Something fancy like that, though he just found it restrictive.

Not that one could tell from how he carried himself as he entered the hall.

"Interesting placements we have here... If they were any more obvious, we'll be sitting on the Capitol's laps."

Hope Stark has Lindsey in the tolerable category because the urban cowboy didn't look like he was leaving quite yet.

Tony snorts a bit of a laugh - amused and pleasant - as he straightens his posture. Lindsey is in a bit of a grey category. A pleasant enough guy. Someone who clearly has his own goals in mind, and Tony can certainly respect that.

He did throw a harpoon at his head the last time he saw him. But to be fair, Tony did ruin his afternoon plans....

"Always better to be on top, I say," he tells him. Doesn't mind the company. It would actually be beneficial to talk to him, in fact. Lean his game, so to speak.

As long as Lindsey didn't try to harpoon Stark's head outside of the Arenas, they should then call it even. After all, all's fair in the Games.

Lindsey certainly didn't hold any grudge for Stark's rescue of his target. It might have something to do with Lindsey having been the one to take him out afterwards anyway. And then died soon after himself, but that's how Arenas went.

"Can't argue that. Life's always better when you come out on top."

"Agreed," and Tony certainly does. He's just still trying to figure out where the top actually is around this place.

"Nice work last round," it's a weird sort of statement/almost-compliment. But wasn't that the way of the world they were in now? He'd made it farther in the game than Tony. It was something to be admired, kind of. Strength. Or luck. Or both. Either way, Tony liked a bit of a challenge, which Lindsey seemed like the sort to provide him.

Whether that would help him or hinder him in the end still remained to be seen.

If anything, that simple compliment endeared the scientist to Lindsey in a way that other ego stroking wouldn't have done quite so well. This told him that Stark could let go, and given that they were in these games on a repeated cycle, that was a very good thing.

"Not good enough," Lindsey answered with a pull of a face. That was two arenas and two times he nearly made it to the winner. Closer the first time, less so this time, but still not bad. He got some money out of climbing over the bodies, so at least there were consolation prizes.

"Good work breaking the trap."

oh hell this is so late it is embarassing i am so sorry

"Thanks," Tony shrugs because by now, he knows he's brilliant and is mostly just pleased when others catch on to the fact. "You must come from somewhere... interesting, I take it?"

Tony's starting to be more familiar with recognizing magic than he literally ever thought he could be, considering it's relative non-existence in his own world. But Lindsey sure was using it. So, he's going to take a leap here and guess he and Lindsey don't exactly call the same place home.

He knows pretty much nothing about the guy, really.

Might be a good time to learn.

No problemos~ It's a slow game.

"L.A.," Lindsey answered with a soft slight smirk, knowing that that was probably not what Stark thought at all. "Year 2004, if you must know."

They might be from perhaps alternate realities of the world, but it wasn't that different that it would be notable. "Oklahoma born. Earth like you and most people should know it. I don't think it's the place that's all that interesting."
nightlightheart: (yeah no i don't think so)

"Hm," the look on Tony's face makes it pretty obvious that Lindsey's answer was not what he was expecting. "You study at Hollywood School Of Voodoo or something?"

He's not originally from the L.A. area, but he's lived there a while now. He doesn't say so though.

"Nah, just joined a law firm," Lindsey answered with a laugh after seeing the other man's expression. Let Tony try to figure out if this answer was serious or a joke.

"That's okay though, most of the world's not supposed to know magic exists. I mean, some obviously do, you have your Wicca and shamans, but people make up what they want to believe to fill in for things they can't explain."
nightlightheart: (having a hard time not looking at you)

[personal profile] nightlightheart 2013-04-27 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Naturally," Tony just shrugs. Isn't really sure what he's supposed to believe about anything Lindsey says at this point, but a magical lawyer seems just as plausible as anything else to him. When you're friends with a mythological Norse god, he knows he can't go back to thinking he's got the universe figured out.

"You knew though. Apparently. Unless you've been taking a crash course down in the Training Center I wasn't aware they were offering," there's a smile on his face, but he's not fooled yet, Lindsey. If he's really just some Oklahoma-born human guy, he's picked up some knowledge along the way Tony's never heard of. And that's frustratingly curious to him.

"Nah, knowing came with the job. You know, you have your share of dragging monsters out of the hole they dug themselves into and then a side of magic and sacrificial rituals." The way he kept smiling, he might have been talking about the weather for all Tony was concerned. It said: this was my job, I do this everyday, so sue me.

"I wouldn't count on them having a crash course though, magic doesn't work out here."
nightlightheart: (hey there buddy)

[personal profile] nightlightheart 2013-05-01 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
"No," Tony agrees. "But sometimes it does in there. Its nice to know who's got something up their sleeve."

"I'm sure everyone has something," Lindsey answered with a shrug. "The question is 'how much' something." He doubted he was the only magic user here, and for all he knew, some of these guys could be demons or had innate powers... or both. Lorne was.
