Dusk was falling when it started.

Anyone in the District 12 suite's would have heard heavy sounds above them moments before a loud explosion rocked the entire building. The electricity flickers once, twice, then goes out, replaced by cool, blue glowing lights running along the ceilings. Avoxes appeared silently, as they do, herding people from one room to another.

Once the door shuts, it doesn't open again until the last person is there, sealed shut. The windows in the rooms with them were darkened, and the computer would not respond to any request to show anything. However, food could be called to the room, the trays appearing as they normally do. But the doors would not budge, and the cool blue lights stayed the only light source, the only power.

Although there was nothing to see, there was lots to hear. Banging, foot steps in the halls, on the floors above, explosions, straining metal collapsing, scraping down the side of the building. Occasionally the repetitive rapping of gun shots. Yelling. Screaming. Those near the top of the building could smell smoke, at times strongly. The elevator can be heard moving up and down, even though it doesn't respond to any calls from those trapped.

The sounds last into the late night, finally quieting around midnight. Finally, at 1 am, a calm, cool voice comes over the loud speakers.

"The rebellion forces have been repressed. We will be clearing the building for the next few hours. Please stay patient and sleep well."

It was unusual for Sigma to play the part of a parent. He had regarded his child with apathy most of the boy's life, as history required. Now freed from the forced reenaction, he'd allowed himself to keep a watchful eye on his son. Near the top floor, Sigma heard the sounds from above not too long after they began. He immediately thought of warning Kyle, and Dr. Klim tore into the hallway and snuck onto an elevator during the explosion and the confusion that followed.

Sigma slammed his hand down on a button and waited for his destination with slight alarm. He hated being kept in the dark - did the Capitol have an enemy they'd conveniently forgotten to mention? But the elevator whisked him past the seventh floor, not stopping no matter how many times he tried to override it. Emptied out onto the first, Sigma was seized by the arm and escorted into the District 1 suites.

Sigma stared longingly into the hallway until the door slammed shut. Kyle would be fine, he assured himself. He had taken care of himself in isolation his entire life. Rid of his emotions, the Doctor took a seat and folded his arms. His brief game of pretend, playing the part of a weak old man unable to take care of himself, had ended. He made a point of keeping eye contact with whoever looked his way, sometimes threateningly as a deterrent to conversation.

Elias sat down next to his Tribute, giving him a soft smile. He hadn't had much time to talk with the elderly man, so...two birds, one stone.

"See anything before they dragged you in here?"

Sigma's glare lightened when he realize the man nearing him was not another Tribute, but one of his mentors. With the numerous death games he'd played in his lifetime, Sigma found it rather silly to approach a "mentor" for a lecture on survival. But this man's job was to support him, and therefore it was in Sigma's best interest to communicate with him. Perhaps it would prove useful for Kyle, as well.

"See anything, no. Before the explosion, however, there was quite a commotion above..." The Doctor raised his eyebrow. "Is this sort of incident typical?"

He shook his head.

"Not at all."

The idea of an invasion from outside forces was inconceivable. No rebellion would be dumb enough to try a direct attack like this.

Which sat badly with him.

Doc Holiday | OTA

Holiday had been, much to her displeasure, dumped off on the wrong floor. She had never been in the District 1 suites, obviously from her time here, and she really didn't care to be at the moment.

"Anyone want to tell me what's going on?"
nofunandgames: (what am I watching)

[personal profile] nofunandgames 2013-03-05 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're guess is as good as mine."

He had been brought down here from 10. It was a bit strange to be in another Districts Suite with..them gone.
doc_holi: (seriously explaining)

[personal profile] doc_holi 2013-03-06 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That's pretty much what's going through her mind.

"Who are you? Are you another tribute?" Getting a headcount here. Don't mind her attitude.
nofunandgames: (uh what.)

[personal profile] nofunandgames 2013-03-07 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
He looked over, not accustom to being dealt with so briskly. When he caught his own attitude, he felt a bit ashamed by it, and quickly gave her the information she needed.

"Elias, I'm a mentor form District 10."
doc_holi: (calm)

[personal profile] doc_holi 2013-03-07 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
She took a deep breath and crossed her arms. Right.

"Sorry. Thought you would be one of... them." You'll have to excuse her if she's a bit on edge.
nofunandgames: (...you are seriouse.)

[personal profile] nofunandgames 2013-03-09 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Them?"

The two obvious groups of them were Capitol and Tributes. And the mentors now were some strange middle between them.
doc_holi: (worried)

[personal profile] doc_holi 2013-03-10 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
"The citizens in the Capitol."

She doesn't realize that there are some tributes that's pro-Capitol out there... otherwise she wouldn't be talking so much.

Then again, she knows she needs to shut up about some things. She just doesn't care.
nofunandgames: (warm smile)

[personal profile] nofunandgames 2013-03-10 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I'm from the districts."

Although home seemed very, very far away lately.

"Elias."
doc_holi: (worried and sad)

[personal profile] doc_holi 2013-03-10 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
From the districts... He's a mentor.

"Holiday. Sorry about that."
nofunandgames: (...you are seriouse.)

[personal profile] nofunandgames 2013-03-17 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing to be sorry for."

He smiled, sensing that this wasn't exactly good new to her. Not that he could blame her. It's wasn't a reaction he was unfamiliar with.
