Diana was...unhappy, if the understatement could be forgiven. Taken from her bed, stripped of her powers, tossed into this world where she was meant to fight and kill for the entertainment of the ruling class...

Well, she was familiar with concept, obviously, but that didn't mean she liked it. And she liked even less what little she'd understood of the situation, of the history, before she'd been ushered to her quarters. As soon as she was left alone she was off, exploring the building, the city, anywhere she was allowed to go in search of answers. Of a crack in the prison walls.

"Solved the mystery at last," she said. He wasn't a talkative man, that much she could see. "That must come in handy, in the Arena."

He wasn't talkative about himself, no.

"Not so far," he admitted. He's a little embarrassed how quickly he died.

"No?" she asked, curious. "So few of the Tributes I've met so far have been civilians, from what I could tell." Or children. "Are trained fighters less rare than I've been assuming?"

"I've met several civilians. But yeah. A lot of us are fighters."

"For variety, I guess," she said, her voice sour.

"That seems to be the theme of the day," he replied with much the same tone.

Diana looked him over at that tone. "You sound as thrilled as I feel, to be here. Unhappy with the accommodations?" A part of Diana wanted to believe that no one taken from their homes to fight in the Arena was happy about it, but she was too aware of a certain type of people to really believe it.

"Nah, they put us up in a real nice place," he said dryly. "Who could complain about that?"

"Prisoners stolen from their beds in the dead of night to a luxury suite while they waited for death, possibly," she said. "Other than that, I can't think of anyone."

"Yeah, there is that," he remarked dryly. He didn't mention that she was lucky to get the luxury suite. He got tossed right into an arena. "That's just getting nitpicky, though."

"I'm something of a nitpicky person," replied Diana, before adding, "Although precious few have been willing to complain too loudly I've found, even when they're obviously unhappy with the situation. I'm curious as to the hold this city has."

"Enough of a hold to toss strangers into a death match and not worry about repercussions?"
