Do you keep your secret away from all you meet?
Who| Bruce Banner and Tony Stark
What| Bruce has a secret he's going to share.
Where| In a park under a tree some way's away from the path, smack in a blind spot.
When| Day after the Lonestar Post
Warnings/Notes| Science bro nerdery. Will add more as they come up.
It was a relaxing afternoon. Bruce rested under the shade of a tree, which he suspected to be genetically engineered, since the changing leaves were almost an eyesore with their vibrant colors. He had a book to read and a notebook to write in. He scrawled in it, long and beautiful equations and equivalencies and proportionalities as they came to him, usually only writing briefly before returning to his book.
He, after all, has time to kill, and it wouldn't do to look anxious when he's supposed to be relaxing.

Then again, Tony was never really one to pay attention to such a boring concept as time.
When he see's Bruce he stands in front of him and nudges his foot with his own, as he sucks on his straw.
"Look at you, looking like a research intern. You know you're too old for that right? You've got grey hair to put through college. Being an intern doesn't pay like you'd think."
Not that Tony's ever been an intern, but he's knows there's at least 10 at anyone time at Stark Industries.
no subject
He looks up when he's nudged, arching an eyebrow at Tony with his smoothie. "I know. I've had them before." He closes his notebook and puts it in his lap, patting the ground next to him for Tony to sit. "But good interns are hard to find around here, so I have to do it myself."
no subject
Tony stares at the ground with a look of disinterest when Bruce offers it up to him, then after another long sip he just drops straight down on the ground.
"I don't think I've ever sat under a tree before."
He looks up through the branches and just stares for a moment while still drinking his smoothie as he tries to remember a time when he'd been in a park that even had trees in it let alone just sat under a tree.

Bruce cocks his head, giving the slightest amused quirk of the lips. "Come down from your ivory tower sometime. I'm guessing you're missing out on a lot if you haven't even done that." He leans his head against the bark, observing people walk by, out of ear shot but still within sight if one concentrated. "It's nicer in the summer. You don't have to worry about falling leaves or acorns then." Although he supposes that they don't really have to worry about that here, either, with how the vibrant leaves seem to cling to the branches. "I don't think I've met Dave. You should introduce us some time."
no subject
"I was a 5th street kid, we didn't just do parks. That and well being a target to use against dad didn't really make me much of an outside kid, either. So Ivory tower's pretty apt."
He says it simply, because really if Tony was actually someone who liked being outside and not working on engineering he could probably claim his being under near constant supervision outside the house would have been the worst part about being the heir to an empire.
But it never really bothered him. Tech trees made more sense to him than biological ones. So he doesn't really feel like he's missing out like Bruce claims.
"He's a good kid. He's like me so obviously you'll get along fine with him."
no subject
He gives a soft chuckle and shakes his head. "Now I definitely need to meet him, just to make sure you don't corrupt the poor kid too badly."
It's nice, to sit there under a tree, just talking without worrying about anything. Tony has a way of loosening him up like no one else.
But they're here for a reason. "You probably already know this, but the blackout? I didn't spend my time taking care of the kids. I'm pretty sure they were too busy vandalizing buildings to be taken care of, anyway."
no subject
Yeah okay he's teasing Bruce, a lot about this. Because really it does sound silly that too men in their late forties would be probably going to Central Park because one of them has never done that before.
"Hey believe me, there is nothing I could do to that kid to corrupt him. If anything I'd be more of a good influence on him... Maybe."
He gives it a thought, because really, what Tony has been told by Dave about his world, it was certainly some kind of screwed up if it was to be described in an overly simplified way. He turns to Bruce and raises a curious eyebrow.
"And you are worried about me screwing up one kid when you let a whole bunch of them become social deviants?" He nods either way, because he knows that would have been the case on all sides. "And they've confiscated your bongo drums, so what did you get up to?"
no subject
Maybe it is silly, but on the other hand, maybe they need a little silly in their lives.
"Hey, I never said I wasn't ruining children too." Bruce rests his hands in his lap, looking up at the unnaturally vibrant leaves above them. "I was able to find and cannibalize some of the surveillance equipment the Capitol planted in the Training Center--don't worry, I made it look like vandalism--and I bugged some buildings. If I ever don't come back from an arena, I linked it to a communicator I've hidden under a loose board beneath my bed."
He rubs his hands together. Saying all this out loud gives him a chill, like Peacekeepers will still come rushing even though he knows the Capitol can't see them. "I'll tell you what I found." And despite the serious conversation matter, he looks towards Tony, giving him a smile. An honest-to-God smile with amusement in his eyes. "But first, you have to promise to not kiss me."
no subject
Because even the clothes he wore when he had to blend in so he could bring a one man army to Killian's compound had been burnt, bloodied and all around destroyed, he just didn't have everyday wear like everyone else did. Hell even Pepper had a variety of yoga pants to wear on her off days as few and far between they were.
"Also, slumping? Bad for the posture."
After all how one presented themselves used to be very important in the socialite world, and it was always something Tony prided himself on being unable to break as a habit. Mostly because his presence was half of how he got people to respect him.
The rest of the information offered took Tony's interest, so much so he had in fact leaned in, natural body language to indicate he was interested in what he was hearing. After an amused huff he smirks at Bruce.
"Well, I don't know if I could keep that promise if I made it, I mean, that's a pretty kissable face you have there."
no subject
"Right, the face for romantic comedies, you said." Bruce looks to Tony to roll his eyes. Tony managed to get him to roll his eyes more than anyone else combined. "Well, try to contain yourself. I know self-control is an issue with you."
His smile fades. Onto brass tacks. "I watched them working with the surveillance network, and now I have the passwords. We can use any computer to tap into their surveillance system." He's very calm for the information he's now imparting. "The Capitol's eyes and ears are now ours too."
no subject
He comes back with a little defensively, after all, ever since he took on Pepper as his personal assistant she's never let him get grease anywhere outside the workshop, and fails to guilt him about adding to the cleaners workload.
He listens with intent with what he's saying, then smiles slowly.
"Any computer, huh? Well that works out well. Timing wise, our buddy Lonestar's on the look out for computer parts for me, and with the tools Steve got me in that same blackout I'll be well on my way to, while not J.A.R.V.I.S something close enough who could do just that."
He dusts off his hands as he sits up bringing his knees up as he does and resting his elbows on them.
"You know, I could probably kiss you for this."
no subject
And it wouldn't be Tony if he didn't throw in a little flirting with it.
Bruce smirks, arching one eyebrow at Tony. "I think you can restrain yourself." He doesn't think Tony would actually kiss him, perhaps foolishly. "I promise I won't be jealous of Steve if you do."
no subject
As Bruce suggests he can restrain himself Tony instead leans closer to him, because really, next to Steve, Bruce is Tony's most favourite person to tease.
"Well if I do kiss you, you won't have to be jealous, because you'll know how good he got from me."
no subject
Bruce doesn't lean back, because that would be letting Tony win. He just keeps his brow arched, his voice deadpan, and without thinking too hard about it, he says, "Like you would."
As soon as he says that, he realizes that was probably the wrong thing to say to a man who turns everything into a challenge.
no subject
Tony can tell in Bruce's eyes that he has just realised he's issued Tony a challenge, and it only makes him grin all the more as he closes the distance between them until there's only 3 inches between them.
"You know, I would."
Then he closes the gap and kisses Bruce. It's not all that intrusive, or forceful, but rather polite, even friendly, and it is almost most certainly playful.
no subject
If it had been intrusive, he would have freaked out. Instead, it's playful and friendly and about everything Tony has ever been with him, so it lasts for a few seconds, with Bruce just internally laughing at himself, at the ridiculousness of his life.
And then he pulls away, his smile finally reaching his eyes (the first time it has since he came to this horrible place) as he instinctively touches his mouth. "Okay. Point taken. You would."
He should be freaking out more, since he's never kissed a man before (hasn't actually kissed anyone in years), but Tony has a way of wiggling past his boundaries and making him forget they were there in the first place. "I asked for that."
no subject
"Isn't there a saying about never challenging fools or the rich?"
Really he could be wrong about that, but he's at least sure there's something very close to that out there somewhere.
"So, now you're done hitting on me. What was it you wanted to tell me in this 'secret grotto'?"
