On the morning of February 14th when the Tributes come down for breakfast they're greeted by an impressive holiday themed spread. Pink and red baked goods, chocolates shaped like hearts, beautiful red and pink flowers, adorable stuffed animals all line the table.

On the table is also a sign in cursive that reads:

To our beloved Tributes, Victors, Mentors, Escorts and Stylists. Enjoy your holiday. -- Bartlett Industries

Most of the sweets are completely harmless, but if the Tributes taste the chocolate covered cherries or caramels they find themselves suddenly acting very strangely...

Draco could hardly say no to a chocolate or two. Blissfully oblivious to exactly why they were there - though it did occur to him vaguely that it was Valentine's Day - he didn't necessarily look like he needed some cheering up so much as he was eyeballing the chocolates Cinna had brought to their suites thoughtfully.

Cinna saw the looks Draco was giving the treats in his hands. Smiling, he walked over to Draco. "Chocolate?" he asked, amused to see Draco look so happy.

[mudbloodhater]

He looked thoughtful for a moment, then reached over, plucking one from the tray before offering Cinna a brief salute with it. Almost like a toast, before he popped it into his mouth.

"They're not bad, you know," Draco told him, looking quite pleased. "Have you had any yet? Must've done, if you've that box with you."

[setfires]

"I haven't," Cinna said with a small smile. "They're gifts for you and the other Tributes. It's not my place to try them." He let his smile widen. "That and I wouldn't want to ruin my figure."

[mudbloodhater]

Draco grinned back at him, the smile abnormally wide. "I don't think one chocolate's going to do that. I've had a few already, and I'm just fine." Though he could have stood to gain a couple pounds anyway. "I think you should have one. At least one. No one'll notice."

[setfires]

Cinna shook his head. "I'm afraid I don't have much of a sweet tooth," he replied. Though honestly it was just that he felt there were some things that belonged to the Tributes, and that people like him (who were born into the Capitol and exempt from the Games) shouldn't be allowed to enjoy. "Maybe I will the next time they bring you all steaks."

[mudbloodhater]

"D'you think it'd happen? I haven't had a steak in ages," Draco declared, easily distracted from his insistence as he quietly snuck another chocolate out of the tray.

[setfires]

"It's possible, as more and more sponsors realize what it means to have Tributes who keep returning to the Arena," Cinna commented. He imagined that eventually it would become a symbol of status to support them between Arenas.

[mudbloodhater]

The idea of it sounded brilliant to Draco. If this was what it was like just getting spoiled by the Capitol, he wasn't going to complain about getting showered with gifts from the sponsors, too. "Word might get out after this one, I think. It'd be hard not to."

[setfires]

"Just be careful," Cinna advised. "You don't want to end up indebted to the wrong people."

[mudbloodhater]

"How'm I going to know if I will or not?" He asked, leaning forward a little, genuinely curious. Cinna hadn't steered him wrong thus far, after all.

[setfires]

"Find out what the mentors think about sponsors. If it seems like there's something they aren't telling you, then they're probably the type to steer clear from."

[mudbloodhater]

Draco hesitated a moment, ruminating on that before nodding. "Well, that would certainly make sense."

[setfires]

"You're smart and you know how to look out for yourself. Trust you gut," Cinna said and then smiled a bit. "Though right now we don't have to worry about that. Do they have Valentine's Day on your world?"

[mudbloodhater]

He preened a little, cheering right up at the compliment, and nodded a little, "Yeah. Usually the girls are into it more than the boys are. I think they like to compete for how many gifts they get from admirers."

[setfires]

Cinna nodded a bit. "It's the same here," he said softly. "Though sponsors compete to be the one who gives the most to Tributes."

[mudbloodhater]

"That's not just on Valentine's Day, though. That's all the time, isn't it?"

[setfires]

"That's true, but holidays give them even more reason."

[mudbloodhater]

"So what, on the holidays, we have more to look forward to?" He liked the sound of that, and it showed. "More chocolates? Or proper gifts?"

[setfires]

Cinna watched him for a moment. "That depends greatly on you and what kind of impression you make."

[mudbloodhater]

"I always make a good impression on people," Draco stated simply, smile fading slightly.

[setfires]

"You do," Cinna said softly. "We should probably work on making an impression they always remember."

[mudbloodhater]

He paused, then nodded in agreement, the gesture small and subtle; he liked being remembered. That was how things ought to be. He was a Malfoy, and that automatically meant something, except there - it didn't mean anything there.

"How?"

[setfires]

"We can work on your Style, on the presentation you bring to the world."

[mudbloodhater]

"Do you have any ideas yet?" Draco asked, looking slightly intrigued by the entire matter.
