"I don't have a knife, and I try not to get violent if I can help it." Bruce tilted his head so he could look at the young man who approached him while still keeping an eye on what was happening around him. One never knew when everything would go to hell.

"I look new because I am new. Who am I speaking to?"

"Lyle Norg," Lyle said, tucking his hands behind him, between his back and the wall. "Or, if you'd prefer the more colorful sobriquet, Chemical King. But hardly anyone uses that here. And you?"

This sentient seemed to be taking great care to keep an eye on what was going on around him. He's not exactly subtle about it, but subtly can be taught and learned.

"Bruce Banner." He crossed his arms, not even trying to hide how wary he was. He didn't care if people noticed he was suspicious. He highly doubted any one of them hadn't been keyed up their first night, if they weren't keyed up now.

"Dr. Banner if you like titles." He once would have insisted on being called that, but not since being forced out of the US. Titles seemed silly after that. "How long have you been here?"

"Medical doctor, or doctor in something else?" Lyle returned, raising his eyebrows. Medical doctors were always handy to have around, as were sentients with doctorates in the sciences. His well-honed (if not well-disguised) instinct to run was also very interesting, for a doctor.

"And six months," he added in answer to the actual question, twisting his mouth into something of a pout. "They tried to put me in pants made out of skin after I got out of my first Arena, it was gross."

"Doctor of theoretical physics, but I've been acting in a medical capacity for..." He frowned, needing to think for a moment. "Eight or nine years now. I don't have a medical degree, but I work in a pinch."

He frowned, his head moving back a little at the mental image Lyle just painted for him. "Skin? Like human skin?"

"You and me both," Lyle said sympathetically. "Well, not so much theoretical physics, my fields are biochemistry and engineering, but working medical. Apocalyptic event? Or just weird-ass and unique circumstances?"

He wrinkled his nose. "Probably not, but it's not like I have that much experience with skin-based clothing. What animal do they usually make leather out of? Horse? Cow?"
