[open] CATCH ALL

Who| ALL Y'ALL it's a ho down
What| A catch-all reaction log for the plot developments. Saves you from making 5 logs each tbh.
Where| All around the place
When| During and post lock down, 3am~ sunday onward
WARNINGS| Panicking, talk of murder and violence. Singing the songs of panem.

When things like THIS and THIS are going down it's probably a good time to touch base with one another. Face caressing, crying and meaningful stares abound as the Tributes and Staff drag their knuckles hopelessly in an effort to figure out what the fresh hell is going on.

Make your own prompts, feel free to make them closed to specific people.

District 8, open

There was a part of him that wanted to invent a device that could determine who had done it, open a portal to where they were, and have a robotic arm extend to shake the person's hand. Such a thing wasn't possible (probably) but there was still part of him that got vindictive pleasure from knowing such a cruel individual would never harm anyone else again.

Of course, there was another part of him that thought it would've been better for her to eventually be brought to trial for war crimes, because justice yada yada, and was terrified for the people that had been taken. Especially Carlos.

And Sandy. Sandy's capture made him want to put a fist through a wall.

With Carlos' capture, he tried not to think about the suffering his friend was going through. He also clamped down on his worries that Carlos might reveal his secret. That wasn't the major concern at the moment. If it happened, it happened. The well-being of those who'd been imprisoned - who were possibly getting tortured - mattered most.

All of that worry and unease was not what he projected, though. While others worried and panicked about their loved ones, he sat there on the common room couch, playing a game of Kandyland Krush on his tablet. (Or so it looked like, given it was the very discreet interface to some of his hacking programs).

The sound was turned up loud rather than muted (which was no different than his usual rudeness, really) and anytime someone near him sounded panicked or was upset, he made scoffing noises just loud enough to be obnoxious, as if he was just so put upon by people panicking around him.

They'd dragged Carlos and Susannah out of District 10 and Lyle had had to act like he didn't care. Had to act like it didn't matter that two people -- and undoubtedly others -- were being dragged away to be tortured. Act bored, like it didn't affect him at all.

It was a relief to find Brainy sitting there in the middle of everything, making noise and being obnoxious. Brainy knew what he was going through, Brainy was going through the exact same thing.

"Hey," he said, stopping next to Brainy. "Look at us, being on the right side of the law again. Wasn't expecting that."

Brainy snorted.

"Well, when the government has more in common with people in our line of work than the Tributes, and what gets you arrested is selflessly trying to protect others, selfish dickheads aren't typically suspected of revenge murders."

Hence why they were pretending to be dickheads.

"If Hsiang hadn't been so psychotic I might have considered asking her for a job. We've been hired by worse."

"I'm pretty sure I've worked for sentients more psychotic; but I don't recommend the experience," Lyle said, absently buffing his nails against his chest as he scanned the room, looking at the Tributes around them and trying to get a head count. "Do you know how many got taken? Susannah and Carlos got yanked from mine. Carlos!" he made a disgusted noise. "And here I thought I might even be able to make a science-buddy outside of the Legion."

"It's too risky to be associated with him when we plan to eventually assimilate. Can you imagine?" He sounded disgusted. "He might even try soliciting our assistance in his naive aims. It's best we break ties."

Or pretend to, at any rate.

If he survived - which Brainy desperately hoped he would.

"That goes without saying," Lyle said, rolling his eyes. "I hate it when people I think may be tolerable company turn out to be deranged idiots. Especially when their actions result in me having to wake up in the middle of the night and deal with armed guards and the obnoxious complaining of everyone else here."
