One // He’s just a bit of a fixer-upper
Who; Kristoff and Open, with parts for Elsa, Anna and Hans
What; Kristoff has arrived and technology is baffling also finding out who is here.
Where; The tribute center
When; Backdated to 7/31
Warnings/Notes; N/A?
He should have kicked up more of a fuss he thinks now. Sure, those white knights had seemed pretty threatening, definitely not people to mess with but now Kristoff is feeling a little ashamed of himself. Who knows, maybe he could have taken them and found his way out. But then there's the question of where he even is, Panem not a country he's ever heard of. It can't be that far from Arendelle though, he almost certain he wasn't out for that long. But it's such a strange place, and not just for this whole supposedly fight to the death business.
He leaves his communicator behind in the room they've given him, determined to get so actual answers that make sense. But it's only shortly into this all that he starts getting confused, the technology far beyond what he's used to. He pauses in the common area of District 2 to stare at the screens, jumping slightly when the screens start to move and. Oh. Oh, that was someone dying, he's sure of it even if the screen has moved on. Carefully he takes a step back, looking uneasy as he leaves.
And he spends the day wandering, looking around with a sort of confused amazement. Eventually he manages to get the courage to dash onto the elevator when another person gets in, though he's clearly out of his element, grip on the bar along the side tight. This is so very strange, and though he'd be loathe to admit it, it's terrifying.
Another notable place he can be found is the kitchen. It was an accident really, he had just pressed the little leaver on the silver box out of curiosity, jumping when the light clicked on and a whirring sound came out. But then, a little cube of ice falls out, and just to test it, Kristoff presses the lever again. And then he holds it down, ice dropping rapidly, bouncing off his hand to scatter across the floor, and yeah he is grinning a little, clearly excited by this at least. At least he is, until the ice runs out, Kristoff looking confused as he presses the button a few more times.
Anyone care to clue a technologically impaired kid in?

Closed to Elsa
But knowing that Elsa's here gives him a mission to complete, and so he heads off to find her. It's the least he can do, really, and while he knows she's not really someone who needs protecting, not with all she can do, there's a part of him that knows it's what's right. And not just because he knows it's what Anna would want.
Eventually he manages to find the District 9 suites and when one tribute leaves he takes the chance to step in, looking around. He could call out, maybe, but something makes him hold back. Instead he just looks around, clearly searching for someone.
no subject
It takes Elsa a long moment to realize who he is- the man who came with Anna to her ice castle. She never got his name, nor figured out who he even was. Curiosity gets the better of her, and she moves over to him.
"Um- hi?" she asks, wondering if he'll recognize her.
no subject
He just about to leave, turning on his heel when she shows up and he has to take a second to recollect himself, trying not to show his surprise too much. "Queen Elsa!" he exclaims, a touch louder than he should and Kristoff winces, dropping it a few notches. "Sorry. I didn't. Someone said you'd be here, but I... well I kinda hoped they were lying I guess."
no subject
She gives him a sad sort of smile. "Well... it wasn't a lie," she says. "I've been here for months." There's a short pause, before she realizes- "Oh, but... I'm sorry, I don't think I ever got your name? I remember you, from before. It was very brief, but then you and Anna left. That's the last thing I remember."
no subject
But he notices her little wince, mimicking it with his own embarrassed one as he listens to her. "I.... This place really plays with time then?" He'd been told as much, but having it confirmed is another thing, and he knows Elsa has definitely not been missing for months. And what she says next only adds to this sudden certainty, Kristoff feeling himself from. She should know his name, and he's hesitant as he speaks up, using his indoor voice. "Kristoff. Kristoff Bjorgman, your Majesty. But..." He pauses for a second, studying her. "You should know that... What do you mean that's the last thing you remember?"
no subject
At his question, she can't help but feel already like he must be from her future. She gets the feeling that he must know more than her, if he seems so hesitant. "I mean what I mean," she says. "The last thing I remember is Anna coming to see me at my ice castle and you were with her. More specifically, I remember my ice guardian escorting you out." That's still not something she's proud of, in hindsight, but at the time it had felt necessary. "Anna is from after that, if you want an example of how this place can displace anyone from any time."
no subject
"Oh," he says shortly, because. Well, what else is there to say to that. He wonders if Elsa knows she shot her sister in the heart with her powers, if she knew what Anna's cry of pain actually was. He wonders and doesn't actually say it because what point is there dragging up old painful memories. "She's ok, just so- wait, Anna's here?"
That's the more important question and Kristoff feels every part of his draw up sharply, tense and tight because Anna shouldn't be here, this is the last place Anna should be. "Is she ok?" He asks quickly, careful to pull his volume back to an indoor voice.
no subject
When he brings up Anna, she lets her eyes close as she sighs. "Yes," she says. "Anna is here." She can't help thinking his following question is a little silly, even if she knows that he doesn't know better. "Well, do you want the truth, or the lie?" she asks, trying not to sound a little bitter. "She's fine. But here, it's easy to pretend you're fine when you're really not. I don't think any of us are truly okay here. But we pretend to be, for our own sake if nothing else."
no subject
He's already bitten the inside of his cheek after asking that last question, but there wasn't a way to take it back and he exhales carefully, "Stupid question, sorry." Of course Anna isn't ok. Not if what he's heard so far is true, and it stings a little to know that she's been here, somewhere he couldn't somehow help her. He knows she's a big girl, she's more independent than one would expect from a sheltered princess, but it stings all the same.
"Yeah.." he says and the words die in his mouth because really what else can he say. He doesn't know what they've been through, either of them, and he can't really commiserate with that. Words of sympathy seem almost patronizing in his mind and Kristoff draws a breath, draws himself up straight. "I'm here now, though. And I'll do whatever I can, anything, to protect Anna from all this." A pause, and he adds on, realising Elsa may not draw the same conclusion that he means. "That means I'll look out for you too, just so you know. Even though," he holds his hands up, trying a smile, even as he babbles on, "I'm sure you can protect yourself. Anna too. It's just good, to have a second set of hands, yeah?"
