WHO| EVERYONE
WHAT| Effie is throwing a small scale party for just the tributes.
WHERE| The District 12 suite.
WHEN| Christmas
WARNINGS/NOTES| Secret Santa's are under the cut. Feel free to tag in whether you signed up for secret santa or not.

Effie had tried very hard to make this a party that was actually made for the tributes, not made to show them off.

She had tried very, very hard.

The food was what she had been able to investigate as “home” cooking for those she could track down, an odd arrangement of food that sometimes got close to the tributes home food, and sometimes was a terrible disaster. Blood pudding, for example, was a dish best avoided. But then it usually was.

The best hits reel had been her idea. It took a tense conversation with Haymitch and about 45 minutes to convince her that now, that wasn’t really what any Tribute wanted to see when they were trying to relax.

After that the party was much nicer, mellow music, holiday cheer and, for a holiday party, fairly low key. Lorne had karoke going in one room, while another had a large glittering Christmas tree and mellow music playing, with the District 12 windows wide open to show the snow covered city underneath.

Eliot smiled to himself as he watched Lindsey relax near the group doing karaoke. His brother had always been the one most comfortable on stage with their guitar growing up. The thing had been so battered it wasn't worth anything but at least they hadn't had to sell it after Da lost the house.

He snuck up beside his twin. "You up for a duet?"

Lindsey glanced up when his twin joined him by the wall. So far Lindsey had just been listening, letting the others go up one by one and not quite joining in himself yet. If anyone asked, he gave the excuse that he killed Lorne as a reason to not go up, but it wasn't that. He got over his anger at the green guy, and after their last talk, he found he wasn't really angry at him to begin with.

If anything, it was nice to have possibly two of the few people who liked him be in this world with him.

He just wasn't terribly interested on going on stage to perform for people more than they already were in the arenas.

"What song would we sing?"

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-01-06 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was thinkin' Wanted Dead or Alive might be fitting," Eliot suggested. "And it works best with someone else. Of course, we could always sing Do Your Ears Hang Low, if ya prefer."

While the children's song might fit the Capitol, it would be a horrible karaoke song. Besides, he didn't need his twin for something that cheesy.

"Huh," Lindsey observed, although he did give Eliot's shoulder a punch when he heard Eliot's ridiculous suggestion. "Yeah, while you sing that, I'll be over here laughing. I hope you plan on throwing in the gestures with it."

Lindsey did smile though and he glanced over to where his name queue was coming up for song. He hadn't chosen what he was going to sing yet, but he suppose he could do a duet with his brother.

"I haven't sang in a while now."

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-01-11 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ow, Linds!" He gave his twin wounded look. It should look real even though he's laughing inside. He learned from the best, after all. "Would you stop making fun of me? I was just tryin' t'make it easier on ya. Especially now I hear ya haven't been singin'."
hartless_cowboy: ([More Than I Deserve])

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-01-12 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Lindsey met the wounded look with his best unimpressed lawyer look. He learned from some of the best how not to take any shit either. The effect might be lessened because he wasn't in a respectable suit, or even halfway respectable in this shiny monkey garb his designers insisted he wore, but the expression was still there.

"That might work if you gave me the choice after I told you I haven't been singing."
retrieverchef: (laughing)

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-01-15 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Eliot laughed at his brother's expression. "It wasn't that hard to guess. Neither of us has a guitar here and the Arena isn't exactly a safe place for singing."
hartless_cowboy: ([Still Comin' Down])

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-01-17 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"That has nothing to do with why I haven't been singing," Lindsey answered with with a resigned look. "I don't really feel like singing for Lorne right now," he muttered despite having put his name on the queue earlier. Things were still awkward enough between him and the demon that he wasn't too eager to take up a mike on his stage.

"Then don't sing," Eliot offered. "I'll take your slot."

He did know about awkward by now. After he'd pretty much killed Don in his first Arena... "Ya wanna pick what I sing?"
hartless_cowboy: ([All I Wanna Do])

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-01-21 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
"It isn't that, Eli," Lindsey said with a sigh. "It's... nevermind. Yeah, take my spot." The beginnings of a smirk returned again as he suggested, "Sure, sing 'Do Your Ears Hang Low', with gestures."
retrieverchef: (laughing)

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-02-09 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Eliot rolled his eyes at his twin's teasing. "Fine. I'll take your spot. But I'm not singing Do Your Ears Hang Low without you. And ya will tell me what that's all about later."

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-02-10 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
"What, you didn't watch the action replays of the last arena?" Lindsey asked with a grin that hid his mild annoyance. Most people would automatically interpret the awkwardness as result of Lindsey saying he killed Lorne in the last arena. Few would think to ask beyond that or even notice there was more beyond.

Eliot shook his head. "Not really. I've been too busy. And I don't think this is about that anyway."

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-02-13 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"So you don't think me stabbing the guy's butt to death has anything to do with it?" Lindsey didn't know whether to be annoyed or amused.

"Think that's only one part of it." He hadn't forgotten what his brother was like when something was eating at him.
hartless_cowboy: ([Still Comin' Down])

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-02-18 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"One part of it? That's everything of it. Ill feelings tend to happen when you kill someone." Lindsey turned away from both Lorne's direction and Eliot's insistence.
retrieverchef: (angry)

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-02-25 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Eliot stared at his brother for a moment, remembering what he'd said when he'd first arrived. "Lorne killed you," he said quietly. "Before they brought you here. He's the one."
hartless_cowboy: ([Still Comin' Down])

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-02-26 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
There was a slight stiffening in Lindsey's shoulders when Eliot made the connection. "I never said that," Lindsey denied, but he wasn't saying Eliot was wrong either. Yet when Lindsey turned to look back at the green demon, it wasn't hatred in his eyes. Not like when he talked about his killer that first time.

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-03-26 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Eliot shook his head. "Not so hard to figure out. You said whoever did was a Tribute. and he's the only one you act like this around."
hartless_cowboy: ([All I Wanna Do])

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-03-28 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
"He's also the only guy who I killed in the arena that I also bumped into out here," he pointed out. It was a fair argument all things considering.
retrieverchef: smirk (smirk)

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-03-28 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
"This isn't your guilty act, Linds. It's what you've always done what someone hurt ya."
hartless_cowboy: ([Still Comin' Down])

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-03-29 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Do what?" he asked, sounding annoyed that Eliot wouldn't let this go. It wasn't something he wanted to get into right now, not while they were the socialites in a party.
retrieverchef: content (content)

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-04-02 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Lash out and then act like a kicked puppy." He sighed, knowing his twin wouldn't like the description. "Come on, help me pick out somethin' to sing."
hartless_cowboy: ([Rattlesnake Smile])

[personal profile] hartless_cowboy 2013-04-05 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Not liking was a fair estimation, lashing out was it also. "I did," he said with a smile that should remind people of sharks, "If you don't want to sing it, you can go pick your own."
retrieverchef: smirk (smirk)

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-04-07 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, I'm only singin' that if ya sing it with me. And do the hand motions," Eliot retorted.
