WHO| Everyone!
WHAT| A Halloween Ball
WHEN| Halloween night
WHERE| The Tribute Center
WARNING/NOTES| None atm. Please tag in your subject lines if anything comes up.
The Capitol had been winding up to this for weeks. More and more extravagant decorations had begun to appear all over the city. Gruesome alleys dripping with gore, houses transformed into creaking, ancient cobweb covered dwellings, flickering ghosts haunting windows and doorways. The citizens themselves had becomes more and more extravagant as the days crept closer, dripping in glitters spiderwebs, hair teased to coil around pumpkins and crows, and decked out in meticulous costumes, often celebrating past victors, and even current tributes.
The ball at the Tribute Training Center wasn't anywhere near the only party that night, but it was the most extravagant, and the most sought after. The decorations had gone towards the classic (perhaps the goverment realizing other areas might move too close to home.) The building had been transformed into a spooky, ancient looking mansion, over taken by spiders and lit with flickering candles everywhere. The tables were spread with unimaginable heaping of treats, from grotesqueness mock organs to sparkling jewel colored sugar covered candies. Avoxs move about, for once literally ghosts, covered in their own shrouds of spider webs and sheer gauze, holding plates of smoking drinks.
Attendance for the Tributes was mandatory. As were costumes. And oh boy did their stylists go all out for this one. It was a parade and a party all rolled into ones and they weren't going to slack on that.

"If that's what ya want to call me, babe."

If she spends much longer smiling for the crowd like she is right now, she's going to turn into a Stepford Wife. Or give herself cavities. She relaxes the overly fake smile and extends a hand in greeting. "The cop formerly known as Detective Anna Morasca. Looks like we'll be arena virgins together."

Looking at that smile, he shook his head and chuckled, "I gave up on smilin' after I got past the camera douchebags. Not worth it. Especially not here. All these weirdo- ...Wait a sec, you're a cop?" Biting his lip, he shook her hand, "I can assure you that it's the only kind of virgin I am."
no subject
"Was a cop. Doesn't exactly apply here. I didn't get your name."

"You're pretty shameless, considerin' we're expected to kill each other soon."

"That's a rather pessimistic way to look at it. Most people would say they don't plan on dyin', or at least express some possibility of gettin' out alive." Sorry, Dean. She's a profiler, it's what she
doesdid. With a cursory glance around, she leaned in to speak softly so none of the Capitol citizens could overhear. To all onlookers, it would appear as if she was flirting with Dean by whispering something naughty in his ear. "For what it's worth, I don't intend to kill you. Or anyone, for that matter. I arrest murderers, I'm not gonna become one."

A bit surprised when he felt the breath against his ear, a shiver running up his spine, "Well. Good to know. Play your cards right, we could tag team, then I'd let you win."

Pulling back slightly, she met his green eyes with her own and blinked. Now she was truly surprised. "I'm a complete stranger. Why would you do that for me?"
no subject
oh, dean. stop crushing me with feels. T^T
And for a minute, she's just still. At a complete loss for words and wondering how she's supposed to respond to that, and eventually she finds the words. "A girl like me? You just met me. I could be a serial killer or a complete disgrace of a human bein' for all you know." Not that she is any of those things, but she made her point.
She leaned against the bar again, glancing around at the Capitol citizens who don't seem to be paying them any mind, and her response is quiet. "I don't believe anyone deserves this."
He can't help it!
He didn't look at her, he couldn't. Because no matter what she said, he'd have to disagree, and he couldn't let her see him cry. "I do. Trust me."

"I've been inside the minds of some of the most evil sociopaths the world has to offer. I've even been at the mercy of a couple of them with the scars to show for it. But you? Dean, I don't see any of that in your eyes. I think you're a man burdened by pain and regret, but you're not evil. You don't deserve this."
