Parting is all we know of Heaven
Who| Gabriel and Lindsey
What| Old pals meeting up again, apparently
Where| Rooftop of Tribute Center
When| Tonight? Sure
Warnings/Notes|N/A maybe. We'll see Might be NSFW. Oops.
Gabriel loved humanity. Really. Really, he did. Honest. It was just very hard to show it here. It was pretty tough on Earth at times to stick up for them, despite the reasons he found to continue loving them. Here. Well. It was still Earth. Fights to the death were nothing new. Humans were flawed and messed up. It wasn't even the arenas, really. It was just... everything. They were playing with fire and it boggled the mind that they still hadn't gotten burned off of it yet.
At least they could throw a good party, but man they were sure weird.
Being human probably wasn't helping matters on his end, to be totally honest. It made everything seem new and a million times more irritating. He could still feel his Grace, he was still an angel, but only in name and it was incredibly annoying to be on that brink. He often thought of Lucifer, as he knew that his brother would just get a kick out of this place, but Raphael came to mind this time along with the image of an extremely soaked cat. Perhaps it was best that, out of the archangels, it was him that came here.
There was a bright side, at least. At least he wasn't dead... or, rather, if he was dead, at least it wasn't boring. Gabriel still refrained from thinking too much about the upcoming arena, though...
Anyway, yes, he did love humanity, really. Tonight, though, things were just getting a little too loud and a little too overwhelming. Again, being mostly human wasn't helping. So, he decided to do a bit of exploring, maybe check out the rest of the Tribute Center that he hadn't seen yet, which led him to the rooftop gardens. It... Well, it wasn't really all that beautiful, honestly. Not exactly an Eden, but it was okay. Provided a different atmosphere and stuff. But the foliage didn't draw as much attention as the other side of the railing that ended in a swift drop off the side of the building. It sort of provided an eye opener, in a way. Such an easy way for a tribute to end it all standing right before them, but the answer of why they didn't do so was painfully obvious and made his mouth twist into another sneer. Playing with fire, these guys.
He turned back to the greenery.

At first he was surprised that Gabriel was assigned to a different district, but he figured that was something the governing powers did. It had nothing to do with the angel himself, and Gabriel probably had no control over the change. But at least the man could seek him out. It didn't happen though. Day after day, Lindsey expected at any time for the trickster to make himself known, but it never occurred and that was definitely not because of Panem's government.
So when one evening he bumped into Gabriel on the rooftop of their grand birdcage, Lindsey could only narrow his eyes.
"Well, well, look what the cat dragged out." How ironic that it would be the rooftop terrace again, of all places to bump into the angel. It wasn't that long ago that their first meeting took place up here, in that corner in fact, by the bench and... things were a little fuzzy from there. Still, his annoyed gaze snapped back to the angel and while he grinned, it was cool and snide.

However, that being said, Gabriel was only an angel in name. He couldn't see people like he used to, just one of the many things he was trying to adjust with and found ridiculously irritating. So when he saw the visitor on the roof with him, he didn't consider that there may be twins running around.
The snide smirk and the narrowing of eyes was something to consider, though. Did the poor guy try his fishing advice on women? Well, if he had, it's little wonder why he would be a little angry about that. It didn't seem that way, though. Eliot didn't seem like a complete moron, so Gabriel just returned a smirk of his own.
"I can't stay inside with liquor and women all day. Even I need new scenery every now and then."
no subject
Lindsey's eyes narrowed at the flippant words, taking meaning in them where none may exist. "Is that so," he asked with a chilled tone and let his sharp grin add an extra aura of coolness to them. "A change of scenery." He spread one arm in a mocking gesture of showing off the garden. "Then I shouldn't interrupt your change by being the same old scenery in your presence."
Yet rather than leaving, Lindsey stayed where he was. His eyes were no longer narrowed but still burned with a quiet anger. He had thought that they got along well, and although Lindsey wouldn't call the angel a friend and if it came to it, they may kill one another in an arena, but Gabriel was the closest thing to one in this weird holding dimension. To hear that Gabriel played his disappearing trick because he was bored and wanted a 'change in scenery' infuriated him.
no subject
That was another thing that irritated him lately. He used to have all the answers... Or well, he used to have at least most of the answers, but that's not that point. The point is that he would at least know what was going on, rather than just blatant confusion. This guy definitely had something crawl up his ass since their drink together.
Gabriel stuffed his hands in his jacket pockets and observed who he didn't know to be Lindsey for a moment. "... Did she not put out again? Dude, I told you. Fish is the way to go, Eliot."
It was an odd conversation. Don't judge.no subject
There were differences between him and his twin brother if people cared to look. They were identical twins that went through completely different lives, and Lindsey had less lines on his face. His hair was a bit shorter too, though thanks to what stylists did to him, that may be hard to tell sometimes. Still, he got 'up close and personal' with the angel so many times that it felt absurd Gabriel made such a mistake.
no subject
Did he remember the wrong name? Surely not. He was at least left with a great memory, when he actually cared to remember things. Names and faces were one of those things.
So, he stared back at the very angry man who was gradually getting angrier before his eyes. For once, he actually didn't mean to cause that. Instead, Gabriel looked around the rooftop, not noticing anyone or anything else up there with them.
"Am I getting punk'd or are you just nuts?"
no subject
The angel hadn't stopped insulting him with mistaking him for his brother, unless that was done on purpose although that would have been an insult of another sort, but he dared to react like it was a joke. Masking the feeling of betrayal with his own brand of disdain, the ex-lawyer looked Gabriel up and down before he sneered.
"If that's how you want to play it, fine. You weren't that great anyway."
no subject
He glanced around the rooftop one more time. No. No one here. There had to be cameras, though. Not that the thought answered any questions he had.
"Seriously, though... I don't know about you, but I wasn't aware we were playing... I love games, don't get me wrong! You just, uh, seem to be taking this one kinda seriously."
no subject
But damn to hear it was a game from the start was like a mini betrayal.
His expression didn't change as he took a step closer towards the angel. Lindsey was unarmed, but somehow the movement appeared threatening. Probably because of how wide that mocking grin was. "No, Gabriel, you weren't that great. But it passed the time. So for that, I thank you."

Gabriel was a great soldier of Heaven. Really, more like a general really. A commander. A leader. Certainly not someone to be trifled with. He may have been stripped of his power and status, but it didn't change the fact that he had a mean left hook when he needed it.
This is the thought that goes through his mind, because he's pretty sure he's about to be decked. Gabriel thought back again, glancing away from Lindsey for a second. Maybe he got way more drunk than he thought he did that evening?
"... Did we bang?" Yes, he's near positive that he's about to be decked.
no subject
Suddenly he stopped his gesture in mid swing and fixed a bewildered look on the angel. For once, the anger was less noticeable than the wild confusion. "Do you mean... You really don't remember?"
Another pause and it finally became clear that Gabriel honestly looked confused. Sure the angel remained proud, but it was a mask rather than arrogance after playing with him. Some of his own anger quelled and he gave Gabriel a questioning look. "You don't know who I am."
no subject
That, or his previous self in Panem, but he was still not too willing to believe that. Wesker wasn't a great source of trust and the past arena tapes were even less so. It was a good option to keep in mind, but he wasn't relying on it. He'd much prefer the alcohol one.
"Either you're definitely not Eliot, or you have a serious case of schizophrenia. I suggest professional help. Not for the shizo thing. You just seem to be really off your rocker, either way... Least, I hope you are." He does not like this not remembering bullshit.
Still, he didn't get punched. Silver lining.

How did one explain to an amnesiac a relationship of being pals but not-really-friends yet with the benefits of living together and having decent sex? Just thinking that while avoiding all the terminology pitfalls was a mindful. And it was true, Gabriel really wasn't bad in bed, but Lindsey was still upset enough to declare the opposite instead.
"You forgot a lot." Major understatement, but it'll do. "My name's Lindsey."
no subject
Well, he has a name, now, at least. That's, apparently, more than five minutes ago. "We're not talking about last week when I got hammered, are we..."
no subject
"You know what, forget it. What does it matter if it was good or not when you can't remember a single time of it." That was right, they tangled more than once. It was incredibly childish, but he couldn't help but add, "But for your information, you sucked."
no subject
Still, he looked Lindsey up and down, sizing the guy up... and then the challenge is uttered. Gabriel stood taller - as tall as he could be, anyway - with a smirk and a tilt of his head. "Then you got it on with a very poor copy, my friend, because I am amazing. Besides, why come back for more?"
no subject
Taking a step forward with all the wariness of a curious cat, Lindsey tilted his head up so he could look down his nose slightly at the other man. "And as I recall, you were the one who kept coming back." At least, Gabriel sought him out as often as he did, not that he intended to admit that. It really wasn't a matter of who looked for who since their rooms were literally next to one another and at that point impersonal and identical.
no subject
He tilted his head forward, not thrown off by the macho act this Lindsey dude was putting on. It did make him feel quite short, though, and that was something he didn't entirely like.
"So says the guy that couldn't handle that I hadn't remembered our rampant sex in the night." What you got, big boy?
no subject
Narrowing his gaze in turn Lindsey dipped his head so he could stare the angel down eye to eye. "What's there to handle? It's your loss." That was the story Lindsey was sticking to because to imply anything else was to admit to this arrogant, amnesiac angel that Lindsey might have missed him. He wasn't about to set himself up like that to someone who obviously didn't return the sentiments.
Crossing his arms, he gave Gabriel a slow look over then half turned, like he found him lacking. "You're not even convenient anymore to be worth it."
no subject
Not worth it, though? Not worth it? Really? Did he really just do that thing? Was the glove thrown down? Was there a line in the sand? Oh hell, no.
Gabriel gave him a low chuckle. "That... sounds like a challenge."
no subject
Now though, the idea was planted and he was slowly letting it flower. After all, the angel might have lost his memory, but the chemistry between them hadn't changed.
"Maybe it was," he answered as he turned back, just enough to angle a look at Gabriel without fully facing him yet. His arms remained crossed over his chest. "What are you going to do about it?"
no subject
Why else would he be making such a big deal out of it? Though, Gabriel kinda hoped the sex sucked that way he could be totally convinced that it wasn't him, since his ego wouldn't allow such a thing. But if it was, well hell. It was obviously fantastic.
no subject
Their several times together had been a bit of both, mostly with Lindsey on top though it never was a sure thing. The last time in the arena with Gabriel's power back though, that had definitely been Gabriel on top. Lindsey just wasn't insane enough to wrestle it out with a powered up angel when they were in a game that thrived on killing people.
no subject
"In that case, watching you come to me sounds even more enticing than it did five seconds ago. I can wait." He wasn't leaving, though, or backing away from standing so close to Lindsey. Gabriel was fairly sure the wait wasn't going to be a long one.
no subject
He gave a good kiss though, passionate, heated, not desperate but a dominating one, where his tongue fought its way towards entering Gabriel's mouth and not caring what it encountered on its way.
Alright, and perhaps he did miss the angel's witty companionship just a bit.
