Whether in their room, or in their mail boxes, various people connected with the games are receiving Secret Santa information.

Even if they didn't sign up for it.

For those given Tributes, a small summary of their deaths in included, with a neatly written note:

Be sure to help out Tribute celebrate the holiday season by honoring their courageous sacrifices!

For those who do not have a Tribute, they are given a simple list of what the Capitol believe someone in their demographic would enjoy. As if a Tribute could not figure out that a young, Capitol woman might enjoy "Perfume, Bubbble bath, Chocolates."

The note concludes by letting the gift givers know that gifts will be traded on December 22rd.

"Yeah. They're those trees with needles instead of leaves. And they put lights on them and ornaments."

He sighed. "He's not real. But they say he lives at the North Pole and brings presents on Christmas Eve while every one's sleeping."

"The ones that do be being always green?" Pruna had never seen such trees but she had learned about them.

Lights and ornaments, she tried to imagine that in her head.

"Why do they be saying that about someone who do no even be being real?"

"Yeah, them. They're pretty."

He shrugged. "I don't know. I guess they like to pretend he's real. I don't know why."

"That do be sounding stupid. Won't they be realising he do no be being real when there do be being no presents?"

Why would you try and believe in something so easy to disprove.

"It is stupid. And they already know he's not real." He shrugged. "But Christmas was fun."

"Then why be pretending?" She sighed and shrugged, "It do just be sounding weird."

He shrugged. "I don't know. And that's not what was fun, anyway. Dad put up the tree and we'd decorate it together. Mom and I made cookies together. And Mom made the frost make pictures on the windows."

Pruna wrinkled her nose, she guessed decorating a tree might be fun. The cookies not so much, she had had to bake for the inn a lot, it wasn't that much fun... She thought a moment longer.

"Did you get to be eating the cookies?" Because that made a difference she guessed.

"Yeah, of course." That was the point, right?

She frowned and nodded, "Okay that could be being fun. But you could be making cookies any time, no just at Christmas."

"Yeah, we could but Mom was usually too busy. Sometimes we used to make some for Easter."

"What do Easter be being?" As usual once she had gotten an answer she had two more questions to ask.

"It's a holiday in the spring." Kevin could understand the questions. He had enough of them and half the time didn't even know how to ask them.

"Another holiday?" She nodded, "What do you be doing for that?" She needed to be prepared.

He really had to think about that one. Yvette hadn't even bothered to decorate for Easter. "Small gifts. Usually in a basket. Candy. Sometimes cookies. And Easter egg hunts."

"So a lot of these festivals do be being about gifts." She wrinkled her nose, "Why do you be hunting eggs? Surely they do just be where the chickens are."

"Yeah, I guess." He laughed. "Not real eggs. Fake ones with candy or money inside. The grown ups hide them."

"Fake eggs? What do candy be being? Why do they be hiding them?" This made less and less sense by the minute.

"Candy is... Remember Valentine's Day? When that guy sent the food and stuff?"

Pruna wrinkled her nose, she wasn't sure when valentine's day had been and wasn't sure what Kevin was talking about, she shook her head.

"With the toy bears and all the heart stuff?"

"Bears?" And hearts? Pruna shook her head, she would have thought she would have noticed if there were bears and hearts in the capitol. "Did they be being bear hearts or people hearts?"

He laughed a little and shook his head. "Neither. They were heart shapes."

"Heart shapes?" Why would someone make a heart shape? What did it mean? Life maybe? Or a threat? "Hearts do be being hard to draw, you do be having to be remembering where the tubes go, did there no be being an easier shape, and what do it be having to be doing with bears?"

"They... don't really look like real hearts. There's no tubes. And the bears were holding them."
