Who| Kankri Vantas & OPEN
What| Settling in, meeting new people
Where| District 5 apartments at first, then generally exploring around the Tributes' area
When| Just after his arrival, some days after Enjolras' crowning
Warnings/Notes| Warning for Kankri being his annoying self, pretty much. Also, his first chronological threads will be with Claudia and the Initiate, but beyond that timing will pretty much be in the order of tagging.
Really, Kankri found the entire concept of this place absolutely deplorable. He would have no part of it. But until he could find some way to escape his captors, it wouldn't hurt to familiarize himself with the layout of the place. And also to find something to eat, he was quite famished at the moment.
He started in the suite of the district he'd been assigned and herded to like cattle, of course, but soon enough he was meandering all through the building, taking note of its occupants and features with various degrees of disapproval. He wasn't entirely sure of how to approach anyone yet, but he supposed it wouldn't hurt to try for the sake of information.

"Please, do settle down," he says, holding his hands up palms forward to show he means no harm. Of course, Kurloz must be used to everyone here trying to kill him, if what he's been told is true. "I understand that you're upset about these circumstances, anyone would be, it's only reasonable. However, there's no need to lash out at me. I suppose I could call you Makara if you're that insistent on it, though I can't imagine why, but really, I wasn't aware that I needed permission to call wigglerhood acquaintances by name! Goodness me, what on Beforus have they done to you in this awful place? Out of all our group, I'd hardly have expected such animosity from you of all people."
The longer Kankri talks, the more obvious it is that he has precisely none of Karkat's aggression, in his voice or his expression. In fact, he's looking that long distance up at the Initiate as if he's entirely comfortable with him.
no subject
His eyes narrow and he leans in close, ignoring those up raised palms and sure as hell not commenting the nerve of him to ask him to settle down.
"...WHO ARE YOU? And how all the fuck do you know me?"
no subject
"I'm Kankri Vantas," he says in a tone that makes it clear this information should be obvious. "And as I said, I've known you for quite some time. This place must be quite traumatic for you to forget all about - well - all of that."
no subject
Because there can't possibly be two of them. There can't be.
no subject
"Excuse me," he snaps out, obviously offended, "but there is hardly any need to be so very rude. I am Kankri Vantas, and I can't think what motive you'd even imagine I could have to lie about my identity, and I've never called myself by anything so impersonal as a title like that. Next you'll be telling me you don't know Mituna or Meulin, either!"
no subject
"DON'T SAY HIS NAME! He ain't yours anymore, he's mine! I DON'T CARE IF YOU KNOW THEM AND-" He stops short. Meulin. The Disciple. She'd told her name first, before her title, the strange troll. Wait a second. "You really did at your motherfucking examinations pre-emptive on up on this, didn't you? LOOKING SURE WHAT ALL PEOPLE WERE BELONGING TO YOUR 'OTHER', YOU ALL MADE AT TO DO. Well you fucked up. THE HELSMAN IS MY MOIRAIL. Not his and not yours. AIN'T CARE FOR THE KITTYBITCH ON OTHER CASE. You want for The Dicsiple, go find her your fucking self, she ain't here."
It's starting to sink in slow. There's two of him. But why is there two of him?
"TELL HIM THE FUCK AGAIN; How all do you know he?"
no subject
"One of my closest friends is named Latula," he says, enunciating each word like he's talking to a wiggler. "Through her, I made friends with her friend Mituna, and through Mituna I later met you, since you were his moirail. This was some sweeps back, now. And anyway, for the past sweep and a half, you, I, and ten of our friends have been playing some RPG Meenah found, and since there's no other trolls for us to talk to, I could hardly not know you at this point, Kurloz. Please try to calm down, this isn't like you at all."
no subject
"The Pyrope," He breathes. She knew. She mentioned a twelve. She mentioned the Empress being part of that not the Signless.
Not him.
Twelve Messiah chosen. Twelve failed. He steps back and hits the wall. His hand goes through his hair. "HE FAILED. He was of those that Messiah-failed." Deep and unshakable horror floods his veins. No. No, no, he was supposed to be their most loyal, their most devoted. Not a motherfucking sinner-failure heathen like the Empress, like-
Like this troll. He looks at him. Properly this time. This dead troll, this ghost, wasn't supposed to exist and yet here he was, before him, making mockery of everything.
He speaks slowly as well. "WHERE THE FUCK. you are up and being from. WHEN ALL WAS THIS WAS TO BE. And everything what all you know, especially of my own self. YOU ARE GOING TO TELL ME THESE MOTHERFUCKING THINGS NOW, BEFORE I, GRAND MOTHERFUCKING HIGHBLOOD TO BE OF ALTERNIA, RIP YOU LIMB FROM MOTHERFUCKING LIMB!"
no subject
"Mituna," he blurts out. "Is he here? If you can point me to him I'll go fetch him right away, obviously I've said something that's triggered you and I apologize most sincerely for that. Please try to take deep breaths and calm down, Kurloz, you're going to do yourself harm if you succumb to your coldblood instincts. This isn't you, I know it's not. Just stay calm, we'll get you shooshed and it will be all right."
no subject
"I will find the Helmsman after. BUT UNTIL YOU TELL ME WHAT ALL YOU KNOW. I ain't going no where. YOU'RE FROM SO OTHER WORLD AIN'T YOU? One where all the Empress is young with you? TELL ON THAT."
no subject
He glances for a moment at the door. He's closer to it than the indigo. If he needs to he can scarper.
no subject
This isn't working. The troll is glancing away, looking to run. Too much fear and not of paralysing kind. He needs a different tactic.
"Let a motherfucker make a deal. YOU THINK US... FRIENDS, THAT ALL BEING RIGHT ON WHAT HE SPEAKS?" He bites back a hysterical laugh. "Let him make a deal at with you then, brother. WE CAN WALK ALL AT FOR THIS. I can find the Helmsman. AND ON THE WAY, YOU CAN TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT IS YOU KNOW OF THAT LIFE. Sound motherfucking fair? ONLY A FEW DAMN FLOORS AWAY HE ALL IS IN LIKELIHOOD." He holds up his hands, false smile pulled tight.
no subject
"All right," he says, after a moment. "That's perfectly fair. But first I want you to take a few deep breaths and settle down as best you can. You don't need to live up to harmful stereotypes about coldbloods."
no subject
Don't cull him. Don't cull him.
He can't cull him.
Yet. He can cull him later. He is here for the arenas isn't he? Later. For now he can get what he want and then see Mituna. Because at this rate he really will need to see Mituna.
He doesn't manage a deep breath. Just a "Honk." Close e-motherfucking-nough.
"HOW MOTHERFUCKING UNFORTUNATE THAT ALL WOULD BE," He says through his teeth, as he starts to walk- slow so as to be sure the Vantas doesn't flee.
no subject
"So," he says after a few moments of walking. "What would you like to know? It's a little difficult to talk about such a broad subject without a direction."
no subject
He shakes his head and starts forward again. The mutant has a point. There's a lot to ask. How do you even ask about a whole lifetime.
"What the fuck all up and happened?" He tries, but that's still too wide. "GOT A WANT FOR OCCURRENCES SPECIFIC AT TO HIS OWN SELF. Who is among the twelve chosen, all their names. AND WHAT BECAME OF OUR KIND IN WHOLE."
no subject
Rufioh himself is quite friendly and pleasant to be around. He and Damara share several interests, and he's far better at interpreting her accent than anyone else. He's always calm and collected, if sometimes a bit wishy-washy.
And then there's Mituna, of course. You and he have been moirails quite some time. He's foul-mouthed and lewd but very sociable in his...rather aggressive way. I enjoy his company despite my misgivings about the way he talks."
Kankri pauses for just a moment to collect his thoughts a bit more.
"Oh, and Meulin Leijon. She's your matesprit. Has been for as long as I've known you both, I believe. She, ah, had an unfortunate accident that left her deaf some time back, but I think that's best talked about after I finish your first question."
no subject
He smirks at Mituna's description because he can just see it. He wasn't... sociable per se but he can't see him being anything but the snarky fucker he is.
He starts at Meulin's mention though. He can't even laugh in the irony that she's deaf because of his surprise.
"We hate each other," He says quickly. "SHE TOOK MY EYE LAST ROUND AND I BROKE HER MOTHERFUCKING ARM. She's a heretical sinner and traitor and she'd likewise sooner see me dead for what all is of my future."
no subject
He sighs. "Well. In any case. Porrim Maryam is a jadeblood. She's perhaps more open to romantic experimentation than might be wise, but she's quite kind and reliable, even if I do argue with her quite a bit." He bites his lip; he misses Porrim already. Even with all their bickering, she's still one of the closest people to him.
"Well, ah...after that is Latula Pyrope, a tealblood. She's one of my closest friends." A tiny smile tugs at his mouth. "She's wonderful to be around. She lights up a room when she comes by, she's a lot of fun. But she's still so considerate of other people. She, ah...she and Mituna recently became flush," he murmurs. He's quiet for a moment after that. "They fit together very well. They're both all about having a good time. I'm happy for her."
And he is. He's just also...a bit unhappy about the fact of it.
"Well. Aranea Serket is cerulean. She has significant psychic capabilities, mostly in the realm of telepathy, with some scrying. If you want an exhaustive thesis on any item at all, she's the troll to go to. She's nice, but she always seems very self-satisfied." (Irony? What's that?)
"And then there's our blueblood, Horuss Zahhak." Kankri makes a face. "Everything he says and does borders on inappropriate if it isn't unabashedly lascivious. It's rather disturbing. A very capable engineer, though."
no subject
The Pyrope much better catches and holds his attention and immediately, he knows this is the Neophyte, the one who turned when he called her last name just on speculative whim. Who was to be his partner, who kissed him and culled him, and apparently was to die. She was involved too then. It starts to illuminate, exactly what this reflects, their descendents being involved in the same thing.
This revelation isn't enough to keep his brow from rising higher as Kankri gushes hopelessly. And he's informed that Mituna and the Elder Pyrope were matesprits and he just about laughs out loud. Because never, not ever, could he see that. He could see Mituna's look of disgust though.
The cerulean was clearly ancestor to the little Pyrope's cerulean, if he were to guess right. And that meant a blueblood among the second group too. He doesn't know them.
"PAIR WHAT ALL YOU SPEAK OF SURE AS SHIT DON'T FIT NOW," He says. "Her other was here. SHE AIN'T NO MORE." He muses over the names. "I ain't met none of these else. LEAST NOT IN THIS MOTHERFUCKER'S TIME. Maybe futures. CAN'T SAY HE'D BE LOOKING FORWARDWAYS."
He eyes Kankri again. What a weird little troll. Fuck, he'd always been weird but this was a whole never level of it. He shakes his head.
"You better not be motherfucking lying to a brother or no rest will be of you."
no subject
Friends might be an extra generous term, considering that Meenah is Meenah and Cronus is...himself. Still, if Kurloz really doesn't know any of these things, he may as well keep things simple rather than going into the various intricacies of their relationships.
no subject
"YOU COME HERE WEAVING TALE OF THINGS WHAT ALL ARE NEAR OF THE IMPOSSIBLE AND MOST FUCKING ABSURD, THINGS WHAT ALL WOULD BE MADE LIKE TO BE EVER MORE FALLACY WHAT IS OF YOUR LOT, TO MAKE FOOL OF AN INITIATE. The Vantas pair and I ain't got no gratuity up at for each other. NO MOTHERFUCKING GENIALITY TO SPARE UP WITH WHAT BE OURS WE ALL UP AND GOT, MOTHERFUCKER. Not even to goddamn mention we are like to be in a cull game. YOU GOT EVERY DAMN REASON TO LIE OR ALL WHAT ELSE. He merely is choosing to give benefit of doubt based on unfortunate knowings. AND GIVING WARNING FOR WHAT ALL MAY BE. If I was sure you were lying, this would all be over much quicker and we wouldn't be up and speaking now," He says, scowling. "YOU MADE A DEAL TO TELL ME. You gave your word."
no subject
Well," he continues, "Cronus Ampora is of the violet caste. He...tries. But he's so focused on his own royal status that I don't particularly enjoy his company. And anyway, he attempts to pressure everyone into doing what he wants, so he tends to not be very good company. Particularly now that we've all begun to reach sexual maturity." He scowls.
"And Meenah Peixes is the heir apparent. She doesn't particularly want to be, which I find laudable, so she exiled herself to one of our moons. Apparently she was exploring some ruins there when she found what the game we've been stuck in is based on. She's violent and impulsive, but she never listens to any reprimands." He shrugs slightly.
"As for yourself..." Gosh, this is weird to explain details that Kurloz should already know. "Well, you've always been gentle with everyone, although the few times I saw you defending yourself and others from the various hazards we're subjected to, it was somewhat alarming. As I mentioned before, Meulin went deaf. From what I understand, the two of you were resting together when you had a particularly bad nightmare, as of course we often do. You screamed so loudly that it deafened her. After that, you sewed your lips together in penance and to ensure it wouldn't be repeated. Which, by the way, I appreciate the sentiment but it was rather a grotesque sight, so I'm quite glad you've been sensible enough not to continue in that vein. You and she often communicate in a language of gestures and shapes made with your arms or hands."
no subject
He's ready to laugh at being called "gentle" because that, surely, was a joke. The Vantas was kidding him.
You screamed so loudly that it deafened her. After that, you sewed your lips together.
He reels around before Kankri and stops, hands held out in front. "HOLD THE FUCK UP, WHAT? I did motherfucking what?" He can't comment on Kankri's disgust because in that moment he finds himself temporarily speechless.
