show me the side streets in your life
Who| The Psiioniic and whoever wants a free tribble (plus Terezi and Karkat)
What| The Psiioniic might have forgotten that rule about not feeding tribbles. Plus he's going to have some serious conversations with some of the younger trolls that might actually turn out terrible and not all that serious.
Where| Various places around the tribute tower. Take your pick!
When| The last week of the arena.
Warnings/Notes| Possible mentions of: slavery, body horror, torture, Psii being a raging asshole.
option 1: free tribbles!
The Psiioniic had made a grave mistake. He vaguely remembered the post on the network about the tribbles that one...random Capitolite had, but it seemed like it had taken place perigees ago and he had forgotten most of what that woman had said about the tribbles she was pawning off.
It wasn't like he had fed it on purpose. He just...didn't often finish his meals, and maybe he should have been more concerned about leaving food out in his room. He refused to let Avoxes clean his room, and after being brought back into the arena he couldn't will himself to waste his energy cleaning up every single today. Okay, so it was pretty gross, and he hated it, but...
Well.
It was too late now.
Now he had more tribbles than he could feasibly keep, and he was wandering the tower, silently shoving a tribble into the hands of anyone he passed. Sure, they could by their own, and sure, maybe they didn't want one, but he didn't care.
Option 2: Shut up Vantas
He shouldn't be doing this. He really, really shouldn't be doing this. He...He had to reason to approach Karkat, and he knew that talking with the younger Vantas probably wouldn't accomplish anything.
He wasn't quite sure he really wanted to talk to him in the first place.
But he felt compelled, and he had heard whispers of what Karkat thought of him - not that it was hard for him to realize how much the younger Vantas hated him. He wasn't sure if it was because of him and the Signless (and that was quite frankly none of Karkat's business, and he probably had only horribly biased accounts of their prior relationship anyways), or because of the Psiioniic himself, or because of his moiraillegiance with the Initiate (which was, again, none of his business, and the Psiioniic was quite simply sick of people being so judgemental of his moirail). Whatever the reason Karkat hated him, he felt like he should at least...Try to get some level of understanding with the younger troll. They didn't have to like each other, but he'd at least like to be in control of the reason why the mutant hated him.
So he shuffles into District 1's suites, hoping Karkat's there and cornering him as soon as he sees the boy.
"We need to talk."
Option 3: Can't you see that you're tearing me apart?
Pyrope. The one troll he's not sure how he feels about. She's irritating, but he doesn't loathe her like he loathes the Signless or Karkat or the Disciple, and he doesn't like her like he likes the Initiate, and he doesn't tolerate her the way he tolerates Cuthbert. She's not like all of the other tributes who are simply there, who are simply people that he needs to cut himself off from to prevent things going terribly wrong in the Arena. Maybe it's because they're the same species, or maybe it's from the way Terezi has quietly inserted herself in his life. He feels like he can't walk two feet without Pyrope being there.
He feels compelled to talk to her. And now, with the tribble he got from her having laid so many babies, and those babies having babies, he feels he has a proper excuse. So he wanders up to the third floor, wordlessly holding the tribbles in his hands up to her nose. Yeah, that's how you start these things.

First of all, Terezi isn't sure why he's at her door at all. She thought after the whole incident in the arena that he would hate her all over again. She did essentially attack his moirail, and then their fight... And yet, there he is when she opens the door. Holding... Holding...
Second of all, she did not give him that many tribbles. In fact, she's not entirely sure where he got all of them. They had to come from somewhere else because hers certainly didn't make that many babies.
"What did you do?"
no subject
Maybe it's a bribe, Terezi. He doesn't want to deal with all of this drama and bullshit more than he has to, and Terezi seems to be a source of the drama. (Granted, every other troll seems to be a source of drama, but he doesn't have enough tribbles for them. And the rest of them are terrible.)
"They laid children."
Which might not be scientifically accurate, but it is exactly what happened.
no subject
He's still holding them out at her, and it finally occurs to her that maybe he's not just trying to show her.
"Uh-uh. I am not taking them. You hatched this mess yourself."
no subject
He frowns, his hands drooping. Look (or...smell?) at these tribbles, Terezi. They're so fluffy and cute and they're all your fault.
"I didn't do it on purpothe. And bethideth, I thought they would be a good...peathe offering..."
no subject
"Why does everyone think that giving these fluffballs away as peace offerings is a good idea?" She has to wonder out loud because otherwise, how is anyone going to answer her? She certainly doesn't know of an answer to her own question.
"...Besides, why do you need to give me one? I wasn't aware that there was a strict need for peace between us."
no subject
He raises an eyebrow. Who else is giving away tribbles? Does he need to take out the competition. "I don't know. I wathn't aware it wath becoming a trend."
He grimaces, looking down. He's...embarrassed, and he hates telling people that he was wrong, or that he was being an asshole. Because he's never wrong, so coming to the realization that he, he hasn't been doing the right thing makes him uncomfortable. "We don't, but...I thuppothe I've been judging you a bit too harshly."
no subject
"Judging me, how?"

Actually, the most recent person to think that was Karkat, but she decides not to point that out. Instead, she continues with a little less amusement: "You are a lot like Sollux for the record! But I'm not using you as a replacement. You're your own person, and you deserve to be treated like an individual. Not like some collective Captor hivemind."
dating this not too long after his talk with terezi for reasons
The talk... hadn't gone according to his flowchart.
And now he was feeling raw and stupid and like everything he'd ever known was wrong and he mostly just wanted to be alone in his own block to fret.
So of course some lispy asshole just barges in on him.
"Don't you know how to knock?" he growls.
aight aight
He grits his teeth, straightening up and looking down at Karkat with narrow eyes.
"Whatever. I'm not here to lithten to you bitch I mean."
He looks around, and it couldn't be more painfully obvious just how uncomfortable he feels. He knows why he wants to talk to Karkat, but he also knows how Vantases can be. "Like I thaid, we need to talk. About...thingth that don't deal with the arena."
Re: aight aight
"What things? Maybe you haven't noticed, but that's a wide and varied category."
no subject
"Your mithcontheptionth about me. Motht of them have to do with the...Thignleth." It's so weird to not call him the Sufferer. "But you don't really know anything about me at all, and I thought I thhould fickth that."

He can't look at Karkat as he says that, turning from the smaller troll and his shoulders hunching up. A thousand sweeps is a very, very long time, and he knows, just knows, that Karkat won't believe him. But who would? He'd have been lucky to make it to sixty sweeps.

(Yeah, sorry, Psii. It's just too nuts.)

"Wh--" he rasped, his voice still scratchy and low from the damage of the recent past. "What are you--"
no subject
He sounds like shit.
"I'm performing actth of charity and giving out company to you poor bathtardth."
no subject
"I don't need a tribble," he croaked in reply. "Why aren't you keeping it?"
no subject
"I have too many." He waves the tribble at him. "And you look like you need one."
no subject
He grasped the tribble in his own hand.
no subject
"Are you going to name it?"
no subject
Thanks?"I don't know," Jack mumbled, as the tribble made its way to nest in Jack's hair. "I just got it."
no subject
You are most welcome."That'th no eckthcuthe." He watches the tribble, amused, before holding out another. "It thhould have a friend."
Or he can just get rid of two at once and free up more room in his suite.

"Hello?" she called after him, glancing down to the tribble and then to the troll handing them out.

He raises his eyebrows, shifting his arms. The tribbles are...actually kind of heavy, en masse. "Yeth? Do you have a problem?"
sorry. Holiday weeks at work are finally wrapping up now....
She sort of holds up the Tribble , staring at it a little. "Why are you giving away tribbles?" And is it going to cost her anything? Katniss had never liked her cat. Prim didn't know how she'd handle a Tribble.
it's okay! you can probably tell slowness doesn't bother me....
